  1. LOL, there is no talk about any mighty offenses other than to point out that this offense is different than what Dayton has faced in district,, in response to DJ's comment above. You must have not read my thought on the game above. I totally agree that its going to be about defense for both teams.
  2. Actually I thought Kirby was a little off. He was throwing behind receivers quite a bit. No big deal, everyone has a few misses and he made so me great throws. But I did not think it was a great night for him. His greatest night yet will happen next Friday night. 8)
  3. Purple, Not that it matters but you have to understand Coach Neumann. He will not ever run up the score on anyone. He will not even run up the score on dangerous teams,,,, i.e. Bmt Central. We score 28 easily in the first half and 7 in the 2nd last night. We scored 38 in the first half against Central and 0 in the second. Not that it matters. No team come close to Daytons points allowed... Well no other team comes close to firepower of Nederlands passing game either. We just need to wait on next week and let it unfold. We cannot will a win or a loss here so there no need talking about what we our teams are going to "do" to one another. This is going to be one of the most interesting matchups of the year. Anything can happen and there is no favorite.
  4. 1 Allstate defensive back? I am sure that he is very good, but he cannot cover everyone by himself. Again the Dogs have numerous receivers out there all the time. Not decoys, Bellows goes to all of them all the time and when Bellows hits his mark they almost never drop. Dont get me wrong, we from Nederland all know that Dayton is a very good team. I dont think you will see anyone talking trash about winning. We know its going to be a tough game but make no mistake, the Dogs are every bit as capable of winning as Dayton is. Its going to be a fun week. 8)
  5. I figured that Daytons defense had picked up where it left off last year. I was telling a friend last night at the game that we need to hire Daytons staff as a consultant on how to avoid missing tackles. As far as the running game, its still not going to show in the stats because the number of attempts are so low. But, its always been there, they just have not used it. They have and I am serious about this, 4 really good backs not counting Bass. Of course everyone know about Gutierrez, but there are 3 others the best of which is,,,, well, you will see when the time comes. ;D
  6. Historically Ozen does not play well when they have nothing to play for but pride and all Vidor has ever known is playing for pride and they are very good at it. I say Vidor 28 Ozen 13
  7. For all intents and purposes the winner of this game secures themself a spot in the playoffs. If Nederland loses it comes down to a Showdown in L-Town. When I started to type the thought that came to mind, and it's true, "Defense wins Championships". Dayton has got great D and Nederlands defense is looking like its beginning to peak and truly has some very good players if they can just put it all together. I can't see Nederland "lighting up the scoreboard" against Dayton so I really think this game is going to come down to stingy defense and gritty offense with smart pressure play calling. Fortunately for Nederland, they absolutely HAVE found their running game. I know what the stats say, make fun if you want, but how many yards we get on the ground will depend on what strategy the coaches take, "who" they play, and how smartly they adjust to whatever defense Dayton has. Thats all I am gonna say about that.
  8. Yep, he is the first back I have seen in Nederland that has a really good ability to find clear lanes to run in, does not want to go down, has an excellent ability to cut and SPEED all in one package. All that and he is in the 9th grade.. WOOHOO...
  9. For the community its about pride, having an interesting social activity and bragging rights. For the kids its about setting goals and trying to meet them. It teaches them about success, failure, handling pride, being humble and gracious. It teaches them team work and selflessness. For coaches I would think its about winning and doing what they love and earning a paycheck in the process. When it comes down to it they are working for job security. For the school its about revenue. Football is by FAR the biggest money maker there is besides taxes I would think.
  10. The Dome was the BEST, nothing else would come close. I never saw it as a dump. It was clean and functional and it had a lot of history. The next best would be Sam Houston State, such a beautiful backdrop and the air has a really piney smell. Reliant would be awesome for the playoffs if they kept the prices within reason.
  11. He was one extremly fast white boy that is for sure. The kid could scoot.
  12. No. You have talent, that is the truth. It would not work without the 2 running backs you have. OR at least 2 similar athletes. There is no surprise playcalling, they just run right at the defense and dare them to try to stop it. I love it, but any OC could do well with a smash mouth running game with a great line and 2 great backs that just line up and run over people.
  13. If you would have been at the game against Giddings last year you would understand. I was there, it was u-g-l-y in many ways. Truthfully, its probably not something to air out in public but if you trust me at all trust me that it was REALLY bad,,, I mean in a biblical way it was bad.
  14. They are all just OK, I dont think there are any out there that are vying for any awards this year. The closest thing to innovation is Nederland going to the spread but even that is pretty much the status quo nowadays. Generally I would say that this thread is a N/A. Not applicable. LOL, PNG.. Why can't I stop laughing?? That is the funniest thing I have read in a while.. ROFLMAO.
  15. Depends on who shows up. If the proud, supremely overconfident Dogs show up and LCM plays like they have been,, 24-14 Dogs. If LCM really wants to win, it would be possible if the cocky overconfident version shows up. If the humble, focused, resolute Dogs show up, 49-14 LCM. No way we can pitch a shut out or a 1 score game. I would love to be wrong but if we get way ahead I can almost guarantee that LCM will hang 1 or 2 scores on us in the 2nd half. Please prove me wrong here, that would be awesome.
  16. Yeah, I am a 7th grader at Central Middle School. ???
  17. It is fun to see your team in the rankings, were almost in the top 10 until we lost to PNG. :'( ;D
  18. I agree and Soulja said it the very best. However, it would be a nice change to finally get a DC some year just to quiet those who taunt us because we have not accomplished that goal yet.
  19. WHOA NOW! ;D I said I HOPE its 56-0 WB... That was not my actual prediction....... was it??? I think my "on the record" prediction was conservatively, 35-14 Bruins but realistically I would guess that or worse. 8)
  20. Looks like the VH from Van Halen.... 8)
  21. I dunno about 4a. I think there is a really good argument for Coach Matt Burnett and his yet to be defeated in district PNG Indians. The good people of Port Neches were dead seriously ready to string him up just over 2 weeks ago, and now he sits solidly atop the district and the "Always be faithful to Purple and White" are feeling like winners again. Not to take anything away from Lumbertons coach, he has done a great job with the Raiders this year and is a good candidate but after PNG had been pronounced dead by the PNG "faithful" I seriously think Coach Burnett and crew deserve some serious LOVE.
  22. For the same reason you guys needed so many Lumberton threads to convince yourself that Lumberton was going to beat PNG before last Friday night! ;D
  23. Nice back handed comment Jake. It took me a second to catch it. I would not make a prediction on any of those 4 teams hooking up. I think its too close to call. Could go either way. I will say this, I like feeling like a bit of an underdog, it felt weird being picked to win every week before the PNG game. We play better when we are underdogs.
