  1. At this point it could easily be Central Dayton (hard to tell what is going on there) PNG Nederland Lumberton (hard to tell if they are the real deal or not. We will know next week) I would say that no one is a lock just yet. Too many big games to be played.
  2. I saw the Central JV play our JV Thursday night. They had 3 guys on their JV that were some of the fastest that I have ever seen. They have got a lot to look forward to as well. I would not surprised to see I think their numbers were 4,5,8 and 91 on varsity this year.
  3. I was gonna let that go,,, but now that its out there, you are right. He did say that.. ;D
  4. Coop you are right. Turnovers killed them. And I think they really screwed up not feeding the ball to Hall more. Had they fed him the ball in the first half like they did in the second, well it would have been a much closer game, forced Nederland to play 2 halves of football and it would not have been unlikely that Central could have won the game. They are a very good football team and I think turnovers and play calling killed them.
  5. Yep I sure have. Saw some great games this week. I saw one that scared me too. Centrals JV is awesome. Big and so fast I could not believe it. They are going to be really good next year. REALLY good. Anyway, back to MCM.. Go DOGS!!
  6. Well, I see the same thing you do Penny. But I think PNG is better than they have been in the last several years and they have not peaked yet. Its going to be a great game this year I think, I have mixed emotions about missing this one. I think this could be a special year for the Dogs. A year like we have not yet seen in Neumanns career.
  7. If you guys beat Central, you will earn my respect. Thats a promise.
  8. I am from Nederland, but I think this one is a toss up. When I saw PNG play in Houston zero week you could see that they had the building blocks of a very strong team. Just depends on what is done with them. Assuming both teams are playing their best ball next week... I think its too close to call.
  9. If Lumberton is going to beat Central in a dry football field they will need to score 46 points to do it. No possible way they shutdown Hall and hold him to 14. Had the field been dry tonite he would have had 300 yards rushing. 45-21 Central.
  10. Did you really just use the term agressive? Ya know, now that you mention it it WAS agressive. That is rare for our staff to gamble. It really seems odd to hear agressive when they had pretty much punted on first down the whole second half and then all the sudden you get agressive when all you need to do is burn the clock?? Dumb sounds bad when you say it. OK, the only thing that honestly seemed "unwise" to use a better term was not burning the clock under the circumstances. Im serious, you could have pretty much taken a knee for 3 snaps and punted on 2 series and secured the win. You did not need first downs, all you had to do was force Central to take one time out and it was pretty much over even if they scored once. Please dont take my comments too seriously, remember its all for the fun of discussion. Except for the unwise thing of course.
  11. I agree, I think Frog is going to shock Lumberton with his speed. If they gave 14 to Vidor they will give 35 or more to Central. Central 45-21 over Lumberton. MCM,,, who knows? All smart gamblers know to stay away from betting on MCM. There is too much emotion and X factors involved in deciding the outcome. I just regret that I will not be home to see it. Mike
  12. Very smart kicking game,, they kicked away from Central all night and Trahan was AWESOME in placing punts deep in Centrals territory. The kicking game literally saved the game for the Dogs tonight.
  13. Penny, I dont want to gine the wrong impression. I thought it was a great played flootball game and a pretty good chess game they played. I just thought that one thing seemed sort of dumb they way that Central had taken the "Mo" and had been scoring on every possession. No big deal, I just thought we were going to lose the game from 4:30 to about 2:30 seconds.
  14. Yep, awesome play in the first half by the offense and the defense. Grogan is the man, he is a major playmaker. The kicking game saved out bacon. If this team is allowed to play at 100% for 4 solid quarters, they are going to be hard to beat. They only played 2 quarters and napped for 2 quarters tonight and STILL won, Its really exciting.
  15. Oh I dont disagree at all. I just think that this game could have VERY easily been a loss in the last 6 minutes the way it was played out. If you just look at the last 6 minutes, the Dogs had a 9 point lead and an opportunity to burn the better part of the clock even if they took a knee 3 times and punted. Central had the momentum and was playing well, why would you want to take a chance on giving them the ball with time on the clock? Killing the clock was dumb in my opinion. They did not need to score, they did not need a first down, they just needed to eat the clock. Im just sayin'. 8)
  16. ;D Good to know that you and I still sing the same songs Penny. But, there is absolutely NO WAY that you can tell me you thought throwing the ball on those 2 series when ALL you needed to do was burn as much clock as possible was a good idea. Even your rose colored glasses outlook has to see that? Dont get me wrong. I was ok with sitting on the lead and keeping your players safe and healthy. But you gotta admit that someone had to have zoned out late in the game and forgot to think.
  17. Again, that is a very dangerous game of chicken.
  18. Playoffs are still a toss up. COuld be anyone but Ozen or Vidor with LCM fading fast.
  19. Typical for them to sit on a lead like that. My only thing is I do NOT understand why you keep throwing and stopping the clock late in the fourth quarter. On the 2 drives before the last possesion they used about 30 seconds of clock where they could have easily eaten up almost 2 minutes per possession. Central had one time out left. WHY do you not run the ball, go 3 and out running and punt if nothing else. I think it was almost a catastrophe. A win is a win but as I said in my post before the second half started, I had a feeling it was going to come down to an end like this, I was holding my breath. Very dangerous game of chicken they played tonight. I was proud to see that Central did not quit, they played hard and almost pulled off an incredible comeback.
  20. Same here NewNDN. I dont care if its 38-7, I am still holding my breath. Anything could happen. :-\ For those of you not listening. A couple of early turnovers deep in Centrals territory really killed Central early on. Also a punt that bounced off the back off the blocker on a punt bounced right into Grogans hands for an easy score. Then a couple of big passes for TD's. I dont understand why the Jags are not giving the ball to Frog. He is still averaging big yards on most carries including the long TD run. I would feed it to him, the Dogs are not fast enough to stop him all night. The second half should be interesting.
  21. As long as we get deep into the playoffs.... I dont care what the pollsters think. Not that I dont appreciate the consideration, but I would rather be unranked and winning than ranked and knocked out in the first or second round like so many teams are as the season progresses.
  22. Sumrall, Cobb, Askew, Mohica, Boyd, Parks, Peletiere, possibly Hood and Butler. Those immediately came to mind.
  23. I have no idea what will happen. Two good teams meeting up and we are at the Babe where the Dogs have struggled. This one could go either way but I think that being in the Jags house is going to make it a much tougher game for the Dogs to win. I am not saying they will lose, but I think its going to be a tough game for both teams. The biggest thing is, I think it will be the first real test for Bellows to have to deal with Speedy defensive backs and an agressive pass rush. I think we will need to run the ball and keep the handle to win. I will be surprised if we win it with an all out passing attack. I hope Roy gets his act together so we can have a power running back, I think we will need it.
  24. Im not making predictions but I will state a fact that is worth considering. Lots of folks basing expectations for Nederland basis Sampere being gone and Bellows being the new quarterback. No disrespect to Sampere, we are going to miss him. I say this with humility but being honest, dont be fooled. Bellows already has more varsity experience than Sampere and we just played out first district game. Bellows is already just about as good as Sampere was for those glorious 3 quarters. He is scary good for a kid that has very little experience. He makes very few mistakes. He has a long way to go but he is mobile, he is fast, he is not afraid to tuck the ball and run, drop his shoulder and run over people to get that last little bit of yardage and he is absolutely deadly accurate when he throws. He makes great decisions in traffic and he has 5 fantastic sets of hands on the field at any given time to get him out of trouble when he needs to unload the ball quick. I dont ever remember having so many good receivers in one year. Asa Cardenas, Adam Broussard, Regan Stanley are great receivers and there are 2-3 more really god ones including DJ. You also have Bass catching the ball out of the backfield. Granted we have not really played anyone yet except Brenham and Waller but this kid is the real deal and he has a lot of help on the line and in the skill positions. There is still a lot to prove this season for all of 22-4A, but I would not base my predicitions on Bellows being new. He is already better than probably 80% of the qbs I have seen play in high school and it is clear to see that he has a lot of room for improvement.. Our downfall could be defensive team intensity. They are maybe MAYBE the best defense we have had since 2000 or even better, but they just go through the motions. If they will ever start to take WOS's dont give an inch, shutout mentality they would be an absolute terror, the potential is there. It may never be realized, but its there. Also, you know how I feel about PNG, but dont count them out. Their defense is very good and they are gaining confidence on offense and they are back to what works for them. PNG is tough to beat when they are confident. YUK, I cannot believe I just said that. But its true. The only prediction that I would feel safe making at this point is that Vidor and probably Ozen will not make the playoffs.
