Rhodes was nominated and was on the ballot according to a Beaumont Enterprise reporter. So writers locally didn't vote for Rhodes. What a joke and a disservice to a high school athlete who deserved much better. He led the district in rushing for two straight seasons. Finished with 1,900 yards rushing this year while also playing defense 90 percent of the time. Certainly there is a way to see all the votes from the AP writers. I would like to see how the "local" writers voted. Rhodes should have been an honorable mention at worst!

The Best Player in District 21-3A, Pierce Rhodes, doesn't make honorable mention? And the second best RB in the league makes honorable mention? DPG deserves it, but so does Rhodes who was the District 21-3A MVP! What a joke! The best RB by far that Kirbyville played all year did make honorable mention also... Cantu from Caldwell. How is the AP All-State team selected? What local reporter has votes from this area?

But a lot of us in Kirbyville want to stay 3A. So who wants to claim this joker? Somebody in 2A please take this guy off our hands! How do these names sound? Newtonballa? EastChamballa? D-villeballa? Warrenballa? Bunaballa? Hardinballa? Anaballa? Kountzeballa? W-villeballa?

No, are you kidding? I'm not just talking about talent but also shear numbers. Jasper, Silsbee, WOS all have kids who have signed D1 over the last three seasons. How many D1 players has Kirbyville had over the last three years? Let me tell you. ZERO WOS, Jasper and Silsbee always has a bigger collection of talented athletes and linemen than Kirbyville. Yet, Coach Alvarez has still beaten Jasper and finally beat Silsbee this year. Kirbyville HAS to play their players both ways and many times in all three phases. Coach Alvarez does more with LESS every year.

Don't feel sorry for us, we want to stay 3A.

We're staying 3A. It would be fun playing Newton in a non-district game. That would give us four big boys on the schedule: WOS, Silsbee, Jasper and Newton (Notice HF was not mentioned) We still have Rhodes for two more years. He's #7. Plus, Hazlewood, Musgrove, Broderick Jackson, Burley, Stefan Jackson, and the fastest player in school who will be a sophomore next year.
