Have we beaten anyone now?! Great win for the Dogs! They got this hire right! He’s already changed the culture.

Good old fashioned beatdown. -
Yup. Gotta win the games you are supposed to win. PNG, Lake Creek, and Huntsville should be playoff locks. The question mark in my opinion isn’t who finishes top 3, but who the 4th playoff team will be. 1-3 is easy and 7-8 is easy. 4-6 is the tough one in my opinion. Montgomery and Dayton will be tough games, but I think the Dogs can compete with them. It’s a very tough district. No doubt about it.

Those are all fair points. Only part I don’t agree with is that Montgomery and Dayton are better than Silsbee at this point. I will give you that PNG, Lake Creek, and Huntsville are though. LOL I will try not to get too emotional. 😂 1. I was simply answering the question about “where’s the D1 linebacker because I sure didn’t see one” question that your lil buddy posted. 2. I pointed out that the O-Line is definitely not a strength but improving a little each game. They were pretty good 2nd half against Silsbee when the Dogs made a comeback. Maybe the scheme matters, maybe it doesn’t. I’m sure you are right… as for the freshman group, they are very talented so hopefully that part of my post wasn’t “unfactual.” 😂 3. Dogs are 2-1. Definitely and improvement from last year. My feelings aren’t hurt at all. 😂 Realistically, making the playoffs this season would be a great accomplishment if it happens running a whole different offensive and defensive philosophy this season. PNG, Lake Creek, and Huntsville fill finish top 3 and I could see the Dogs competing with Dayton or Montgomery for the final playoff spot if we keep improving. I think we will be pretty salty when these freshmen are juniors and seniors. Time will tell. Good Luck to your Raiders, hopefully y’all win a game soon. Didn’t mean to upset you…

One of the D1 LBs was hurt in the Lumberton game and hasn’t returned. The other is not an LB, he’s actually an EDGE but has played some at LB. We have an undersized LB #4 who has been playing his butt off and is in on lots of tackles. The O-Line is not a strength, but they are learning a whole new blocking scheme and improving. You’ve always been good at pointing out negatives and talking bad about 16-18 year olds, but whatever makes you feel good, man. Coach Rich has us headed in the right direction. Nobody said the Dogs are world beaters right now. Let this guy put his system in place and have a full offseason or two. The freshman class is phenomenal. Just wait and you will see a much different team in a couple years.

Silsbee by 3 scores minimum.

Pretty good summary of the game. The Dogs had too miscues against a good Silsbee team. You can’t do that against good teams. I was very proud how the Dogs fought in the 2nd half. This was much different under the new staff than it was last year when Silsbee jumped on us. We showed a lot of fight getting back in the game. As conservative as we are, I was pretty shocked that we onside kicked down 6 with 8 minutes to play. That was a bit of a head scratcher. Great game all around. Silsbee played well and deserved the win. The conservative play calling in the second half almost bit them in the rear though. Good luck to the Tigers the rest of the way.

Silsbee beat us 49/0 last year and it was even that close to be honest. I think it will be a much closer game this year 😂

Nederland (14) @ West Orange-Stark (13) - FINAL
jake94 replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
His Dad sat right by us at the game and we had a great time. That kid is gonna be a star for the next couple years and I could see him being an important two way player for us. There’s lots to be excited about. Also, the freshman team is 2-0 and has outscore md their opponents 75-0 so far. The JV is 2-0 and has outscored their opponents 56-2. That means neither of those defenses has given up a point yet. 😮 -
Nederland (14) @ West Orange-Stark (13) - FINAL

I gotta say this was a fantastic game of great defense by both teams. I was very impressed with WOS tonight. They were in control most of the night, but a crucial unsportsmanlike conduct penalty late in the game was their unraveling. Nederland stopped them on 3rd and short with just over 4 minutes left and it would have been 4th and 2, but the penalty moved them back to the 42 yard line and made it 4th and 17 to where the Stangs had to punt. They punted and pinned the Dogs on the 3 yard line with 4 minutes left. Nederland had struggled to move the ball most of the night against a tough Mustang defense until the final drive. Several key conversions on the final drive and a never say die attitude kept the Dogs alive and in position to win even with the horrendous officiating and handling of the clock. Several times when we got first downs the clock would run and even winded the clock when we completed a sideline pass late in the game. The 15 minute delay at the end only to add ZERO time to the clock showed just how inept that crew was tonight. It was as bad as I have seen in a game in a long time. Hats off to the Dogs for hanging in there against a very good WOS team and driving 97 yard for the game winner after struggling most of the night on offense. The defense was solid all night and came up with key stops when they needed them most and played without their standout LB Ellis Walker. Great team effort! I think the Stangs look like a really good team with tons of potential. I really like the QB and the RBs and WRs are tough to stop. The defense was really solid and shot down what we wanted to do most of the night. All in all it was a great game and the fans for both teams that endured the weather were treated to an exciting ending. It’s a shame that the refs struggled so bad, because both teams poured their hearts into that game. Good luck to the Stangs the rest of the way. If they clean up a few things, they will be a tough out for anyone. Hope the Dogs keep improving each week. You can see the kids buying in already and it is a great thing to witness. We aren’t flashy, but we are gritty and don’t give up. The excitement of those kids to get a big road win tonight was priceless. -

Ned 13 WB 0 they played 2 quarters. Ned should have had one more TD. Dropped a TD from the one and then botched the snap on the FG try lol defense looks good. Hard hitting. if the Dogs can block a little, Hubert is gonna smash. He’s that dude. -

Baytown Lee 51 Nederland 57/FINAL

Nederland played well for 3 quarters, but got a little sloppy in the 4th quarter against a scrappy Lee team. #3 from Lee is a really exciting, really good player. -
Is Reagan still the front runner?
