  1. Not much talk leading up to this game by either side. But, it beats foolish talk of when the starters would be pulled in a game that we LOST outright. I think the Dogs offense is rolling and will continue to do so tonight. I think the Raiders are on the right track and improving, but do not possess the speed and matchup problem for Ned that a very game GCM did last week. Hope for a good, clean, and injury free game. Dogs pull away in 3rd quarter for the win.
  2. No team in our district can stop the run, it's not just an Ozen problem. If our backs get more than 8 carries a piece, GC will have the same problem stopping the run.

Agree. Nederland ran it 50 times for 411 and threw for another 203 last week and LOST! 614 yards and 56 points and LOSE! GCM did most of their damage on the ground with a little over 400 of their 474 total yards on the ground. Neither team turned the ball over.

The key to this game will be taking care of the ball. The Panthers and Patriots have plenty of speed and talent.
  3. I have to disagree about meltdown, a loss in 2012 to a semi final team and a loss in 2013 to a top 5 ranked team doesn't mean you had a meltdown. Elgin also didn't have their QB the next week.

Maybe I chose the wrong word. Last year I kept hearing how they'd beat Elgin and maybe even win state and they got taken to the woodshed by a team that got beat the next week. What top 5 team beat them the year before? Was it close? I know the year before was the Vidor debacle. I was there for that...
  4. Agree with everything you said. That game scared me before it even started last night. If you guys take care of the football, offensively y'all are as good as any team we played all year. No turnovers last night. Y'all got a QB and 2 RBs that can take it to the house. Good luck the rest of the way!

And to think y'all lost another really good back(Allen) who transferred to Crosby! My word that backfield!
  5. When our boys play turnover free ball, we can play with most anyone. That may sound cliche, but we haven't been completely shut down by anyone. We avg 3.5 "LOST" turnovers a game. Coach Boyd went for 2 vs Vidor 2 weeks ago for the W after trailing 35-7 at the half, and scoring 41 in the 2nd half to make it a 1 pt game. We came up short that night, but fought our tails off, just like we do every week. One thing you guys don't realize is, that GCM, although being considered a "Baytown" school, is made up by mostly of kids from a small town named Highlands, just north of Baytown, that for 70+ years have gone to school together from k-8 grades, only then sent to Baytown for 9-12 (HS) When GCM opened, on the North side, Highlands finally had a school of their own, with the northern most parts of Baytown proper attending as well. Highlands boys are full of fight! Just thought I'd share that history/logistical lesson with yall!! By the way, my hats off to BIG NED, class program, and class kids!! GO GCM BEAT OZEN!!!!

  6. GCM has some really good athletes and didn't turn the ball over at all tonight. I think that has been their Achilles heel all year. It was a very exciting game and the Pats definitely deserved the win. There were so many big plays in the game and it came down to the gutsy 2 point conversion by the Pats QB. A great HS football game. I hate that the streak ended, but the game was incredible. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way.
