I think we've got a lot of question marks. I'm very surprised we are ranked in any polls. I'm excited to see us in action in a real game Friday. Crosby will be a really good test as they are well-coached and have good athletes. This is a very tough game right out of the gate and it doesn't get any easier the next week at home vs. Dayton. These types of games will definitely get the Dogs ready for district.
D1 talent for sure, that's not bragging, it's fact. They've got 2 kids that are juniors with big time offers already. Just because you have D1 talent doesn't mean you're going to win. Still have to protect the ball and play together. Nederland is well coached and will have in my opinion one of best pure football players in the area on the field. Nederland is ranked higher in every poll in the state, so yeah, it's an upset.
Would this really be considered an upset? At home, beat us handily last year, and all kinds of D1 talent? -
We had at least 367 fans LOL. I am so glad we caught Crosby with a first year head coach. That was probably the best win in the history of our program to beat the Cougs... Said nobody EVER.
And last year y'all had less fans than they did combined rushing yards, 366. Just be glad y'all caught Crosby with a first year head coach in his first game, otherwise Ned would be 0-fer against Crosby which is pretty funny considering how great your program is supposed to be.

When y'all came to Nederland two years ago, y'all had less fans than the TWINS had combined rushing yards that night. Both were under 100 by the way.
Exactly, guy is cracking jokes on our stadium when they didn't even fill up their side last year, and two they have one of the nastiest and most raggedy visitor's side I've ever seen other than east Texas. To top it all off you have to park in the dang neighborhood and walk in the street by people's houses to get to the stadium. SMH

To piggy back on this:
I am a Nederland fan.
Halftime is my least favorite part of the game.
I do enjoy the Central and Ozen halftime shows.
I would still prefer to watch highlights from local games at the half on the scoreboard and shorten halftime to 15 minutes.Knod, for all the games you attend this year, I want you to pay attention to the visitor and home sides at halftime and see how many people leave their seats as soon as the teams go in for halftime. Now when we Central plays Nederland (I'm assuming that's who you are with) October 10th, pay attention to how many people remain in their seats as the Jaguars band "entertains"...
It's like apples and oranges or me keeping it real, a white and black thing. I don't knock the UIL competitions and the bands that do great there but they are not catered to "US" and Ozen if you can follow me. The Jags still go there and compete but that's not what they are working on on a daily basis. If you were to ever pass by there practice field you would see them "working hard" for their show routines.
Ever since Central switched to that style of band, their band numbers have doubled if not tripled as for kids participating. So in the end it's all about the kids for me. Is it all about the kids for you or do you have a hidden agenda??? -
Jax in Liberty. Trust me! That's where we are going and I'm more excited about the burger than the game!
Where's a good place to eat in Crosby? Is iguana joes any good?

Crosby's band has the most D1 prospects at the tuba, trombone, and percussion positions. Their tuba player is 6'2 270 and can bench press his tuba 37 reps at the last band combine. If you look at most of the freshman and soph members, they are running sub 4.4 warmup tunes with ease.
-
I'm sure they are both D1 with a 6 billion Sparq score so it should not matter...

It's not Mexican food, but Liberty has the best burger I've ever had. It's at JAX. It's by the courthouse. Get the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger on Jalapeño bread. I will be eating there next Friday on my way to Crosby. You're welcome.

Thanks 85. How do we look?

How do we look, Mack? Did Livingston drop to 4A or are they just a different 5A district now?

The "secret game" is the key to our success year in and year out. LOL Maybe other teams should try it. 23 and counting...
-
I can't make it tonight, so any updates appreciated. My battery couldn't take the play by play last week LOL.

One popular poster on the board states Nederland has no chance due to the geographical location of the Trinity River. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything unless the Dogs plan to arrive by boat.
Nonetheless, Crosby does usually have very good speed and a dynamic offense and will he a tough early season challenge much like Dayton and Clear Lake will be as well. -
So apparently there were TWO scrimmages... One that the Crosby fans watched and one that the Huffman fans watched. Good thing nobody wins or loses in a scrimmage because this one would have an asterisk by it for sure!

I will take the Train by a TD.

I thought it was pretty even. I expect better days ahead for both teams. I was pleasantly surprised with the young Dogs not turning the ball over, but a couple of lapses in the secondary concerns me. Too many penalties on both teams. Good scrimmage. Both teams will be solid.
The turn overs and flags, those are drive killers.I really thought Ned looked better than us overall. Was shocked that we didn't go to the power I on the goal line. That's what it's all about right now...see what works and what doesn't.
