  1. I know you aren't a fan.... but the Jags have the personnel to be ridiculous in the spread. I agree, dayton! How ya been man?
  2. I think the Jags have a defense that may be able to slow Grogan and the running game down. I think we will find more success tonight throwing the football. Just my 2 cents. Bellow threw the ball very well last season at Central and I think he will again tonight. It's a little harder to blitz him this year with a better offensive line and Grogan picking up the first guy through. He has not been touched much the last 3 weeks. I still think this will be a very good game. I hope we can come away with a win.
  3. Actually, my wife just brought up the fact earlier this evening that we wore ponchos the whole first half last year. She does not forget ANYTHING. It's actually weird that we had more success in the 1st half in the rain as a finesse passing team last season than we did after the rain stopped.
  4. Come to think of it..... Wasn't it raining for most of the first half last year when these two teams faced one another? I am not certain that it was, but my foggy memory is telling me it was. I believe the start was delayed because the lights at the Babe were not working. Anyone remember what the weather was like that night?
  5. How would you say the rain impacts the Nederland/Central game?? On one hand, a wet field should slow the Jags down a bit since they have the speed edge. Yes, it also slows Nederland down too, but they are not really built on speed. On the other hand, it could wreak havoc on the passing game for Nederland if the ball is wet and make us rely more heavily on Grogan. Or does it make the passing game better since the QB and Wr's know the routes and the defense has to react on a slick field? What are y'alls thoughts?
  6. Prior to the season my playoff picks were in order: Central Nederland Port Neches Ozen My updated selections are: Nederland Lumberton Central Livingston I still am a little worried about Nederland this week vs. an angry fired up Central squad at home coming off a loss.. A lot will be clearer after this ballgame.
  7. Looks like the starters were still in the game. I know because Bellows found himself on the grass for most of the second half and Cardenas and company was getting jacked up on the line. I was making a joke, soulja. I remember the game vividly. I really thought we were going to blow the huge halftime lead. The Jags had me scared!
  8. You know we put it on cruise control in the 2nd half... ;D LC-M shut us out last week. ;D
  9. So you think 19-4A will sweep 20-4A? I promise that will not happen. I don't see either district getting swept. Dayton "should" take care of their 20-4A opponent. CE King "could" win. Assumming Crosby and North Forest are the other two teams, both those teams probably won't win. I do think 19-4A has a little more on the top of the hill. If one district were to win three of the four, it might be 19-4A this year. I agree. I think either district could go 3-1, but most likely 2-2 depending on the matchups.
  10. "It's raining Cats and Dogs!" Nederland Wins in a Shootout "Moody Tries To Cancel Livingston/LC-M Game as Wildfires Spread Across California" (JOKE) "Lions Get Ticketed For going 50 in a 0 zone vs. Bears" "PN-G Makes Pirates Walk the Plank on Last Minute Bootleg TD" "L-Train Exploits Holes in Ozone's Layer Defense"
  11. Since a lot of people think that PN-G is no longer a good team, I will go with them to "upset" Vidor since several have hyped Vidor from the beginning. So, my upset is PN-G over Vidor by 7.
  12. So you think 19-4A will sweep 20-4A? I promise that will not happen.
  13. Wrong, we just played that bad against Lumberton. We had the same starters on the field against Lumberton as we did against Ozen, just completely different attitude and execution. Excellent post! It is all about execution each and every week. How do you explain the Redskins losing to the Rams at home after back-to-back impressive road wins at the Cowboys and at the Eagles? It is all about how a team plays THAT NIGHT. PERIOD, end of sentence. While I will agree that the better team will usually win, that is not always the case especially when you are talking about 16-18 year old kids on a given Friday. If the Cowboys played the Cardinals 5 times do you think the Cards would win EVERY time? If Texas played OU 5 times, do you think the Horns win all 5? How often would Oregon State beat USC? It is all about how a team plays and matches up on the date that they actually face one another, not what they do before or after YOUR TEAM plays them. ok, arizona vs dallis is in your favor... but texas has beat oklahoma 3 out of the past 4 times and oregon st has beat usc 2 out of 3 times... lmao What I am saying is that just because those teams beat the others on a GIVEN DAY does not mean that they are better than the other or that the other team sucks. It's kind of like Lumberton smoking Livingston, then losing to Vidor, then Vidor goes and loses to Ozen who lost to Nederland and every other team they have faced all season. I would still after last week have a hard time convincing YOU that Ozen is better than VIDOR. They just were better than Vidor last Friday. There are so many instances of this each year. Nederland beat a very good Waller team last season and Waller was a MUCH BETTER team. Catch my drift?
  14. I disagree with the light years comment. A lot of the kids that play prior to middle school come in with bad habits or improper techniques that have to be fixed by the middle school coaching staff. The reason why is in many cases the youth football teams are coached by armchair QBs that may or may not know what they are doing and how to teach technique.

  16. I'm always cautiously optimistic. I just can't believe the difference in the team since the first game, that's all.
  17. I'll take the Dogs 31-21 if they can continue playing the way they have the last 3 games. If they revert back to week 0 form, then my prediction changes!
  18. PN-G by 7. Vidor's first half struggles have hurt them all year. PN-G is the type of team you have to get ahead of by a few scores early to get them out of rhythm. Vidor's offense is very one-dimensional and I think PN-G can simulate it well in preparation.
  19. 1st stringers did not play a single play in the 2nd half on offense or defense. Nederland played the 3rd string tailback and the 3rd string QB the whole 2nd half. Also, the Dogs kneeled the ball with the 2nd stringers at the end of the game while on the 5 yard line of LC-M. So please MR Cherokee spew your BS somewhere else.
  20. Surprises... Vidor, Nederland Disappointments... Jasper, Ozen
  21. You actually think that Nederland will SCORE?
  22. I'll rate Nederland in each game... vs. WO-S I'd give them a "4". One dimensional on offense, not physical on defense and missed WAAAAY to many tackles. vs. Ozen I'd give them a "6". Balanced on offense with Grogan toting the rock and the line blocking well, passing game was okay, Cardenas made great catches, run defense was VERY solid giving up only 62 yards, pass D was hit and miss. Much more physical effort in this game. vs. PNG I'd give them an 8. Offense was very balanced again. Great job by Grogan again and what a game by Vidrine, Kirby overthrew a few but had a solid outing, defense was very good against the run and not too bad against the pass. Hopefully we will continue to improve and be a "9" or a "10" this week!
  23. Apples to oranges... Mosley did it over 3 years! Grogan has had a great start, but its two games. Let's remember Micah's senior year. His worst game of the year yardage wise was against a very good LaMarque defense and he had 136 yards! I hope Grogan has the same impact, but to compare them right now is ridiculous in my opinion.
