  1. I agree Penny. I do not want to lose Neumann at all. I was just saying that if we were to lose him that I hope we get a guy who can bring back the physical style Bulldog defenses from years past. I want Neumann to stay here until he retires!
  2. If we lose Neumann, then I hope we go after someone that will teach us to play defense again. I wonder if we could lure Cornell Thompson over here?
  3. Do you get extra points for losing a close match? Nobody in local high school tennis has beaten him yet and I still don't expect it to happen around here. He practices with a lot higher caliber of players throughout the week than what he plays in tourneys. That gives him and edge. Also, the fact that nobody has beaten him in local HS yet gives him all the confidence in the world. Somebody will have to step up to break the pecking order. But, I see no reason to talk trash about a close loss. A loss is a loss!
  4. cardenas maybe one of the best recievers ive seen in texas highschool football this yr.........he's slow though he needs to improve his speed I would not say he has superior speed, but probably in the 4.6 range maybe a lil faster. He is far from slow though and he catches EVERYTHING thrown his way.
  5. There is nothing wrong with applying for another job. Maybe he is just weighing his options and seeing what is out there. I am sure all of us have done this at one time or another. It has nothing to do with being unhappy or wanting to leave, just seeing what's out there. I see nothing wrong with it although I hope we do not lose him!
  6. Nederland will have a solid 1-2 punch at WR with Asa Cardenas and Ryan Brady.
  7. Now that the season is over.... Can we now talk about Matt Barrow? Why was he not honored on senior night? I have seen him a few times in the last few weeks walking without an apparent injury. I asked a couple of players if he would be back next season and they said probably not. What gives?
  8. SFA has a 55% of winning, SHSU 24.5%, LU only 10.4%. Since there's been upsets in the Sunbelt and the WCC, look for one in the SLC too. [Hidden Content] Looks like whoever ran these projections needs to re-boot their computer ;D
  9. This is the exact problem I have with conference tourneys. For the most part, it makes the regular season completely meaningless. In my opinion the regular season champ should represent the conference in the NCAA tourney. I think the Ivy league is the only one that does that. It is not that big of deal in the bigger conferences since they get between 3-7 teams apiece. But, for small conferences like the SLC I think it would be a better idea.
  10. If you have never seen coaches start walking over to shake hands before a game is over than you definitely have not watched much basketball. It happens in football as well. Watch when the clock is ticking down in football or basketball the next time you watch a game on TV. I would say it happens 75-80% of the time.
  11. I don't find this loss all that surprising. Lamar got hot in mid season and started to stumble down the stretch. There is a lot of parity in this league. UTA was a good team when they came to Beaumont and were good again today. UTA was the only team this season to go to SFA and win so they are no slouch. I thought Lamar had a good season, but I just wish it would have ended a little better. The loss at SELA really let the wind out of our sails in my opinion.
  12. Ask those oddsmakers what the odds of SFA losing to Nicholls were?? Or better yet, what were the odds of SFA losing a late season important home game to UT-A? I think SFA is the deserved favorite going in, but I don't think they are gonna win it. Give me Lamar and SHSU and somebody else can have SFA. I would also like to know why Lamar's odds are only 10% while SHSU is nearly 25%. That does not make much sense to me. LU beat them in Beaumont in their only meeting this year and also beat them at the conference tourney last year. I just don't see them being 2.5 times more likely to win the tourney than us. Actually, with the parity in this conference on any given night, I think the odds on even some of the lower seeds look way too low. If McNeese or Northwestern get hot than they are more than capable of making a run.
  13. I would have been there for a Thurs 6 pm game if we were the #1 seed, but I gotta work at noon. I will, however, be there Friday and Sunday if we get there!
  14. Lamar by 5!! I will be there along with 5 friends. I think LU might have as many fans there as McNeese. The LU Choo Choo is coming, get out the way!!!
  15. LU by 1 on a 26-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer by Currye Todd!!!!
  16. What is that a pro set or a tie break? Regardless, good result Bug.
  17. I hate to be a pessimist, but I do not see us winning out. Our last 2 road games have been overtime wins and we were fortunate to win both of those. I could see us losing at Texas State and/or SE Lousiana. I do not think anyone will beat us at the Montagne. But, I think we may slip up once or twice on the road. I would LOVE to see us win out though!
  18. Lamar is much improved on the men's side. There is still a lot of work to be done, but a major improvement. The women's team should win the Southland this season. They have all the pieces in place barring injuries to win the conference. Their main comp will be SE Lousiana. The new freshman(Gutierrez) from Venezuela is going to be a great, great player.
  19. I talked to Grant's dad. He said Grant won the 1st set and it was 6-2. Not sure what the score was after that, I was trying to listen, but my wife was talking to me at the same time. I think he said Grant was up 2-1 in the 2nd set, but it was all Deaver after that.
  20. UTA is one of the few teams that wants to push the pace like we do. Should be a great and entertaining game. First team to 80 wins! I think that will be us and we take it by 8!!
  21. I think that you are correct about Sanders having a lot of heart. But, I think Justin Nabors has just as much heart. He will be a treat to watch next season. I think he will remind us all of LS.
  22. Lamar by 8! We don't lose at the TAGNE!
  23. I think Lumberton still has some good ball players coming back. They did lose a lot of seniors, but two of their best Hanna and Beard return. I think they will be in the mix, especially with Dayton gone and 4 teams going.
  24. Lamar made a believer out of me on the last road trip. Wins ate UCA and at NW St. were impressive. Then, they followed it up with a pounding at home of McNeese. I think if the Cards are focused, then they will win this game by 5-10 points. Winning on the road is about confidence, now that we have won our last 2 on the road the confidence should be there. It was nice to get the monkey off our back and win a few road games. Now it is time to start a streak. I think we are a better team than Nicholls and home floor is the only thing they have going for them in this one. I think Lamar continues their recent hot streak and wins by 7!! Go Cards!! If we can win this game, then it would not surprise me if we had 7k-8k at the next home game. What a great atmosphere that would be!
  25. What are the dates of the LU tournament? I would like to come out and watch some.
