With Garrett out I see Bevil passing the ball more and welcome back Marcus Jackson. I read Coach Woodard wants to use the McNeese game plan for slowing down SE offense but I don't think we have the RB's the Cowboys do. We need our secondary to play well and stop the big plays and the front 7 need to get pressure on the QB and stop their running game. I'll take Lamar in a shootout 45-42.

Glad to hear the starters in the secondary (including Branden Thomas) will be back but not having Garrett is a blow to the offense. I think he needs to see a specialist over at Beaumont Bone and Joint (didn't they donate $100,000 to get the sports medicine facility named after their company). If he is out another game or two he must have a worse separation than a I, II or III. The others usually require surgery and he'd be out the reason of the season. [Hidden Content]

Do you know what hospital he is at? I'll check on him if he is at our facility. Sorry to hear the news as this seems to be happening more often these days. Prayers for a full recovery and emotional peace for the family from Orange. -
Kville by 36. they just had a bad start for the season. look for em in the state playoffs.
That is the funniest thing I've read all day.

I'm sure the Lamar coaches appreciate all of your concern about their jobs. Then all the players appreciate your concern about them whether you want them here or not. I thought once you bleed red you always did. I guess you are a different story.
Now that makes sense. Sarcasm is all you got. So you roll with it.
A cane is all you got. LOL In my profession I would NEVER talk about someone else and their job unless asked by my supervisor. So you love taking negative about the Lamar football program for some reason on a public forum. Roll with it but expect someone to have a different opinion. All you got left to look forward to is seeing someone like me in the ER. Hold on to those memories buddy!

Threads he read on here? I must have mis-spelled the word. I know you are use to it. LOL

You can't understand why I'm so arguementative when your post are always talking about players, the coaching staff and the team? You speak your mind pretty freely and I'm just replying. BTW, I got a PM the other day from a former Lamar football player who read a few threads and he doesn't post much because he isn't into talking about players or coaches. He was on the last Lamar team before it was dropped in 1989 and he was one heck of a player!!!! Also, you do realize the athletic complex and stadium were finished just before last season? So, they were doing weight lifting and conditioning on Vernon Glass field. Not the best way for O-lineman and D-lineman to keep their weight up working out in 95+ weather.

Have you looked at the schedules of South Alabama for the first two years. First year they played juco's and prep school. Last year Lamar was possibly their most difficult game being their first road game in the year and a half of the program. Then while looking at that schedule add twenty scholarships to their team as they are a FBS school.

I'm not going to get banned over this and I don't think the post will be deleted as I'll just say you don't know the history of Dustin Long very well.

Has WOS ever had a losing season record?
bigred360 replied to Paratrooper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
He ran a 4.3 and signed with Arkansas State and a friend of mine, Cazzy Francis was a WR there and he told me Homer was timed at 4.3 there too. -
Lamar still waiting on Garrett's shoulder

Hopefully, it is a grade I or II.
They should know by now the grade of separation at this point, huh?
Yea grad, I would think they know. I guess it's what you were talking about last week with Coach Woodard and the media. -
If the ICW game crowd of last Saturday had showed up at the last home game of 1989 against rival McNeese St, the "then" administration would have been shamed into letting Ray Alborn and 22 returning lettermen from a .500 team have at least another year to prove they could win in the SLC. As I recall, that last game crowd amid rumors that the program was in jeopardy was under 5000.
Two things to remember about that game is the weather was terrible and McNeese didn't bring a lot of fan's r/t them having a poor season which lead to the head coach for the Cowboys getting fired after the season.

1983 was one of the few years LC-M beat the Mustangs. (Homer Rhodes) Then the next year we (LC-M) lost 13-9. Roderick Robertson was the QB that year for WO-S. -
Dang, I wish I wasn't working. Maybe they'll cancel me. :)
-
Thanks for the comment WOSgrad. I support all the teams in Orange; CCS, WO-S and LC-M.
-
I heard it was going to be on channel 6. Please be patient with CCS as they are a first year TAPPS Division I team. They just got hammered by a TAPPS Division 3 team. Now, they are playing Chester and they are really pretty good. CCS is well coached and they have some athletes but being a first year program they often line up in the wrong position and don't make proper adjustments. Give the Lions 2-3 years and then re-evaluate them. Please don't judge by what you see Saturday. Go Lions.
I was replying to coachacola who was implying that McNeese couldn't crack 10k at a home game unless it was a rivalry game.
Quote from Coachacola, " Besides McNeese, the other SLC schools are lucky to break 10K for a home game except for maybe a rivalry game." I think you misread coachacola comments.
-
Now, it's time for our home opener versus Chester. They will be very difficult to beat for a first year TAPPS program.

Woodard: Regular starters out ‘news to me’
Key word played. Thanks for the memories. lol
Lamar has had about 10 years of being a pretty good team in the HISTORY of the football program so you probably played on a team that wasn't very good. "Thanks of the memories." LOL Was your team any good? The McNeese team my brother was on made it to the I-AA (FCS) quarterfinals under Coach Bobby Keasler. Please if you are going to reply do it by PM. Thanks. -

You're right, hipster can PM me if he wants to continue this debate. Need to get back to the original topic. While it is fun having the last laugh most people could care less about someone who played at Lamar 40 years ago or a guy who played at McNeese. -
Well was this as Mcneese or Swt? 4.4 is hard to fathom as i only run 5.6. Bench press 12oz. But never on a Sunday.
It was at McNeese but he wasn't a RB there as he played CB for the Cowboys. Also hard to fathom, he ran a 10.7 100 meters. In HS, I worked out with him and he could bench 330 as a 17 year old. So you only ran a 5.6 at Lamar? That is funny. Hope that is a coke you are lifting as you best not get behind the wheel drinking something else 12 oz. ;D Finally, I was saying he was faster than any RB's on the preseason or current roster. He would not have been faster than Branden Thomas or Jeremy Johnson. -

bigred360 replied to coachacola's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Well, honestly he is the last person to tell me anything about himself. But, as he is very muscular so I asked what he was benching these days and he told me. Then, he said you'll never believe it but I was timed a few days ago (back in the spring) at 4.7. Community doesn't have a track so he was timed on the field. Being the man he is, I believe him since he ran a 4.4 in college. Why do you think I'm pretty sure he could take hipster any day of the week. ;) BTW, he was faster than any of them. ;)
