Woodard: Regular starters out ‘news to me’
BR360 did I mention I am not working so keep making those paychecks, I like your spunk but you are no contest in athletics trust me. Tell your bro I have not forgotten about trying to get him some equipment and will continue to try and help them out.
I'll put you up against my brother any day of the week and twice on Sunday. He just turned 40 and can still bench over 300 lbs and in the spring was timed 4.7 in the forty on grass. At his birthday party Coach Williams (former LC-M head coach) told a story about my brother knocking out the TE for the other team (TE was 6'2, 230 lbs). As for me, I'm sure you were much better. I do like looking at my paychecks, my retirement and bank account. Then I can't ask for a better schedule as I work 3, 12 hrs shift a week for being full-time. There aren't too many people have 4 days off a week. I know the schedule of a high school coach and they put in 60-70 hrs a week during the season. ;) I'll deliver the message as in his position he can't really post on message boards. He has kids from BC, Vidor, Vinton, WO-S and LC-M who attend his church. If he posted he could easily hurt someone's feelings. However, he has and does view the site from time to time. -
Could not come through on the supplies so if that is a lie I am guilty. Maybe I can help down the line. AAw good post. Man up and admit the mistake did
Thanks, and I was joking about the equipment. If you can help down the line that is great. Agree, Coach Woodard could have handled the situation better. But, I'm 100% sure he knew who was on the field to start the game defensively. -
I know you never played college ball!
You are correct I never played college ball. I did play 3 years of varsity football though. My younger brother played at McNeese and was also a high school coach. Football, track and baseball one year. Funny though, that one year he was an assistant for Coach Griff at LC-M they played in the state title game versus Fort Worth Arlington Heights 4A. So, I know a little about the game since I played from 6 years old until I was 18 and my brother that was very successful as a high school coach. Heck, Community Christian started a 6 man football program at the school this year. You think that would have been done if he wasn't the senior pastor and school administator? BTW, he said they never received a donation from you. Did you lie? Where is the gear you promised! LOL Oh and one other thing, I know I make more money in my profession than you ever did as a coach. So you played college ball = I make more money => I win. LOL -
If he knew why did he lie?
Because the media around here wouldn't stop at "they broke a team rule". They would be asking what rule did they break? They would be asking coaches, texting players until they got their answer. (They media have a job to do, right) This way "lie" he doesn't have to deal with it. Do you really believe the Head Coach didn't know the starting MLB and starting DT wasn't in the game? Really, if so I got some ocean front property to sell ya in Arizona! -
I believe Ray should have known during the game and should have noticed if he watched the film. He is out of his league and anyone who thinks different should enjoy the results.
Coach, right? You think maybe these two broke a team rule and as a result they did not start the game? Coach Woodard wants to keep things "in house" and so he made that statement. Seems like a coach would understand not putting your players business in public. -

Maybe we should give him a break, he probably didn't know the criminal record of some of his recruits either, yea, that's it. ::)
I can promise you Coach Woodard knew who was on the field and who wasn't. 58, you think Lamar is the only FCS school in the country that has 2 known players with a record. Yes, Dorsey was wrong for pushing down his girlfriend and Oden should not have got behind the wheel after drinking (he is over 21). When you say criminal record I think of things a little more serious. I'm sure 80% of the FCS programs in the nation would have given both these young men another opportunity.
360, it is just 1989 all over again. People just throwing up reasons not to like Lamar football. I guess they didn't learn the lessons of 20 years ago.
Grad, you right people can't be happy we have a football program they have to find some reason not to go. I'm glad we have a few Orange boys on our team! At this point I'm not worried about the administration killing the program again but I am concerned with the stands not being full in our 2nd year of competition. Heard Bevil is going to be at the WO-S game tonight! ;)
Well, tomorrow. But he will probably be there.
Your right, they (Mustang's) play in Huntsville tomorrow. My bad. Go WO-S! BTW, Andre still has Reggie's picture in his locker. 112%. -

Can't say I had a great time because of how poorly we played. Sorry, if you don't think I'm given any credit to IWU but they are DII with much fewer scholarship players. Plus, this was a home game. Lamar should have won by at least 21. I agree with some of the reasons there wasn't a sellout but not all. Finally, I was at the game with my beautiful niece who is a senior at Lamar majoring in pre-law (her friends have seats in the gold section and I was given a seat. My tickets are in the red section) after working a 12 hrs shift and having to work the next morning. Full of Cardinal Pride. Go Cards!

Agree with the prior post which is why I think a school like Lamar (FCS) should run a 3-4 on defense because we aren't as likely to get several 300 LBS DT's. In a 3-4, you just need one 300 pounder at NT and the DE can be be 235-260 lbs. Also, it would be easier to get fast aggressive LB's who don't have to be huge but fast in a requirement.

Please add Community Church in Orange to you list of prayer request as one of the young men was a very active member of the youth group there and was extremely well liked. Also, it's hard on our youth director as he lost his 10 year old son in a snow skiing accident several years ago. The hurt never completely goes away! Our school, church and individual members will be praying for everyone touched by these young men's lives. May they RIP.
You guys are letting Woodard and his awful staff off the hook. It was not the talent that caused Lamar to struggle, but the coaching. 95% of the plays in the 4th were runs up the middle with little to no gains. It was like Lamar was trying not to score. On defense, the same SFA and USA plays were used on Lamar. The easy crossing route over the middle. Awful coaching. I have no confident this team will win any SLC games.
I was at the game and honestly UNLV, I can't argue with you. If we are going to run why not to the left side of the line where you have Campbell and Oden? The running game for IWU was killing us and the QB was tearing up our zone in the secondary. The whole team needs to step up including the coaching staff.

BAD defense ?.......or we just don't want to give credit to a good offense, cause they have D2 behind their school name?...I caught the later half of the 4th Qtr(9 min), which looked like Lamar thought they had this game in the bag after 3 qtrs...If they played 3 strong qtrs, the only thing Lamar needs to worry about is finishing games!
Nope, I was there...BAD "D". Hope our Cards get it together
QB position is not the problem. If Lamar's defense doesn't get any better, this will be a very long season, one with no conference wins.
QB is still an issue in my opinion...but not near as important as the Defense seems to be right now.
Bevil was 12-16 for 226 yards 2 TD's and 1 INT. He wasn't the problem and Johnson did some impressive things with his athletic ability at the QB position. The defense and special teams are killing this team right now.

Like you guys say about Jeremy Johnson, high school stats mean squat. Personally, I wish Hussey the best in whatever he decides in the future. Seems like a great young man!

Well after seeing Texas Christian it doesn't take much for a 6-man stadium. 80 yards of dirt (grass is a plus), two small sections of wooden bleachers and a small scoreboard with multiple lights out lol.
That field was rather bare, wasn't it?
Don't expect too much as there are no lights and seating will be limited so you might bring a lawn chair to the home games. However, the field is in good condition from what I've heard. Thanks for all the support from Orange County schools and fans especially LC-M and WO-S.

I in no way, shape or form question the integrity of Coach Thompson. However, I can imagine how kids got their informaton. For example, Redd speaking to a classmate "I'm going to transfer to West Brook in the spring and play football next season for the Bruins." Based on that, it sound like he is transferring to play football. However, what he may have left out of the conversation is his father or mother gained employment in Beaumont. I'm well aware of LC-M getting several transfers from WO-S but that goes both ways as a stud WR who ended up getting a scholarship transferred from LC-M to WO-S within the past five years. Can't recall his name right now but I'm sure others will remember.
