1.
Hard to say right now. He's just a Jr this yr and has not played varsity yet. We will know in a few weeks. Huge person to be compared to though... LOL
Yea, his dad was one heck of a football player and very physical. Not fair to compare the two because his dad was a special player.  I was just surprise by the name being mentioned by WOSgrad and not hearing anything about him before now.
 2. In your write-up about WO-S you mention a DB named Quinton Tezeno. Is this the son of one of the players back in the mid 80's who was a All-State safety, helping WO-S to the 4A state championship with players like Kevin Smith? After reading the write-up, WO-S is more talented than I thought.
 3. I don't know if BC can beat WO-S but it isn't because the QB for the Cardinals isn't talented. I saw him interviewed by KFDM and the kid is well put together. You can tell he as spent a lot of time in the weight room. I bet he can bench over 300 lbs and squat 450-500. You don't normally see that type of muscular development on a high school kid at QB. I've also seen a highlight video of him from last year and he can throw or run the ball. I predict he'll be a finalist for the Willie Ray Smith awards on the offensive side of the ball.

I think he'll make some noise at the 3A level. Man, I'm getting old as I was a HS teammate of his father's.
Matt Menard is one heck of a football player....Should be a great match-up Sept. 3rd when the Cards come to Vidor, bty that game will be televised on KFDM.
Bet Coach Mathews loves this game on the schedule. Thanks for the heads up about the game being televised on KFDM.

 6. For the most part guys on here are VERY knowledgable regarding High School football. Plus, they are very passionate about their town/city/school. I'd say at least 50% of the guys on here know you aren't to use pads yet. [Hidden Content] Like a few others said this is a very minor infraction and probably no action will be taken. No big deal in my opinion.
 7.
Great for him, but it's sad for the coaching business that they don't have a quality guy like that coaching kids.... I was blessed to have great Christian men as coaches, and know many more... No bigger mission field than local high schools...
That is exactly what I tried to tell him!!!  8)
 8.
Correct spelling.............Mustangs.........Must have graduated from West Orange!
No, he is a LC-M graduate. Was a pretty good basketball player and is a good person. Edit: Didn't know the guy is talking about WOSgrad.  ???
 9. WO-S is a great program and Coach Thompson is probably the best defensive coach I've heard of in SE Texas. However, there was a lot of turnover in the coaching staff. IMO, letting Coach Foreman leave was a mistake. I know Coach Thompson believes in a strong running game but I'm not sure the current group of athletes at WO-S are built for that type of offense. Back in the 80's and 90's your O-line was big and strong as you dominated class 4A for several years. Back to Coach Thompson, from friends who played for WO-S he was basically running the show back in my day. I know he is a great coach and will make changes as he sees the need. I didn't play for Coach Thompson but he lived down the street from my parents and Van Wade (growing up) the sports editor of the Orange Leader. He is a first class man. He even talked to a college recruiter about a family member who didn't play for WO-S. Best of luck to the Mustangs.
 10. In the BMT Enterprise on-line edition (in the huddle) it states Nederland will take more snaps from under center and use a FB and two TE's at times. They will still use the spread at times.
 11. I thought they did spring ball but I guess I was wrong.  Let's hope the Bears can get back to that 1997 form. Go Bears!
 12.
Congratulations, Pastor Rose. 360, the last I saw on the CCS website, he was principal.  Will he have to relinquish that now that he is senior pastor?
He told me he will delegate some of his administative duties at the school but he is planning with assistance to do both. Thanks for your replies as I know this is a sports forum but I'm just so proud of the man my brother is. May Pastor David enjoy his retirement!
 13. Sorry, to brag on here but my brother 1995 alumnus of Lamar in Kinesiology and teaching certificate in special education was just named the Senior Pastor at Community Christian Church in Orange, Texas. At age 17, he started going to Community Christian. Then after he graduated from LC-M, he attending McNeese on a scholarship. After red-shirting his freshman year he decided to give up football and marry his high school sweetheart who was an English major at Texas A&M. So, at 20 he was married, working as much as possible and going to school full-time. After graduating, he was hired by his alma mater LC-M and worked there for four years. Each year the Bears made the playoffs. At age 26 he was a finalist for the Deweyville HC/AD job. He then was hired by West Brook head coach Al Rabb. The Bruins had a all-american in Chip Ambres at QB and they made the playoff both years he was there. His last year they made it to the 5A quarterfinals. He then moved to Mansfield to coach but was asked by a close friend to be the associate pastor at a small church in Arlington. So he did both coach and was the associate pastor. He was still successfull as a coach as Mansfied made it to the playoffs both years he was there. But, he felt he was to go full time into the ministry. He left Arlington for a small church in Illinois. I thought he was crazy as he was a successful coach and left Arlington for a church of 35 members which under his direction grew to about 100. Then in 2002, my dad was diagnosed with primary liver cancer. My brother was very close to my dad and wanted to come home. He was even willing to leave the ministry. He called a few of his coaching friends and told them of his desire to get back to SE Texas. He was offered a coaching job but the senior pastor of Community Christian called him and offered an associate pastor job and his wife gain employment with WO-C ISD. Feb. 8th, 2003 my father died. I took a leave from my job (hospital in SE Texas) but my brother was able to work through it with his faith I guess. Anyway, I always wanted my little brother to stay in the coaching profession because he was great at it and I felt it was only a matter of time til he was a head coach somewhere. However, that was not his hearts desire. So, since 2002 he has been the associate pastor of a church with about 1,000 members and the school administrator for CCS. Remember this is the same church he started going to at 17 years of age. Well, tonight he was voted to become the senior pastor at the same church he attended as a kid. Although, it wasn't my dream job for him. It was his hearts desire to one day be the senior pastor at Community. Tonight, it happened and I'm really proud of everything by little brother has done from athletics, to coaching and now, his dream job. Congratulations Daniel as I love you! Again, sorry for bragging and just pass over this thread if you don't like reading this.
 14.
I thought former LCM coach David Williams was going to coach the team. What happened?
Coach Williams was never going to coach the team. I believe originally, he was going to help out over the summer and get the kids ready for the season. That didn't happen for some reason. CCS has a HC/AD and three assistants but they can't work with the team until Aug. 1st. They have another former LC-M coach working on fundamentals, route running, proper way to pass and catch the football. Just the basic fundamental that a 1st year program requires.
 15. Now, that will never happen in my lifetime!  :D ;D I just hope for the kids sake they are able to be competitive so they won't get discourage and quit playing. I have it from a good source some of the kids have never even put on a uniform or played youth football. I mean this kids are starting from the very basics. I think the guy working with them this summer can at least teach them the right fundamentals. I don't think Coach Thompson and Coach Crouch will be jealous of the program at CCS as long as their coaching careers last! Again, WOSgrad thanks for showing some attention to the Lions.
 16. I'm a LC-M alumnus of 1985 Like I stated earlier, this merger will probably never happen. Just thinking the "what if's".

You would have WO-S speed and the size of LC-M. It would be a small 5A school if my numbers are right. They would be awesome in football, baseball, basketball, track (WO-S speed and LC-M distant runners). Heck, I am having a hard time thinking of a sport these two schools combined wouldn't be good at. Wishful thinking but it probably will never happen.
Your numbers are wrong. 1200 (rounded up) + 700 (rounded up)= 1900 4A
Thanks, as that is even better!

 19. Didn't he play for that local indoor semi-pro team that played in the Civic Center and later at Ford Park arena?
 20. WOSgrad, that is very possible. Thanks for giving the Lions some love as you do a great job previewing all the area teams. Personally, I don't see how you are able to do it by yourself. Thanks for all you do regarding high school football in the area.
 21. WOSgrad, you are probably right and I was talking to Daniel about the Lions as he was traveling. I asked if they had time to put a full 10 game season together and he said yes. However, I'm sure the HC gave you the right number of games. Daniel has a lot on his mind right now.
 22. Yea, Adam Strandberg is the guys name. As for as you already hearing the news that is funny. Because, no one who attends Community, my mom, Daniel or other close relatives told me. I was told by someone who stated they would now start attending church at Community. I guess this is the worse kept secret in Orange, Texas.  ;D LOL
 23. You need to make it to church tomorrow as there is some HUGE news coming out of Community Christian Church. I can't give out details but it involves my brother. How are those Deweyville Pirates going to do this year? For those interested CCS has a 10 games schedule with 4 home games on the campus of CCS. By brother (former football coach) will assist in getting the team ready for the fall but he'll be too busy to coach the team during the season. CCS has a head coach and athletic director but I can't recall his name at the present time.
 24. Dude you want to meet for lunch or something? No need to continue this on here, two people having a conversation? A little ridiculous IMHO. I'm not digging anything and I don't know what you mean by you guys.... ::)
