1. Now, let the search begin!
2. Smart, make a few comments then say you are done with it. I hope you stand by your word. I'm not a QB coach but I know a few guys that played the position and they think Jeremy Johnson is pretty good and since I know their names and I only have a username for you I'll take their word on it. I have a feeling this isn't the only username you use on this forum.
3. Can you name any of the Red Teams DB's? Maybe Jordan Garrett transfer from Tulane, Ryan Clark, Chad Allen, Adrien Guillory, Jeremiah Alexander a transfer from Houston. They did not only play against Johnson but Prewitt as well. Your memory of the game is great as you can recall several plays "exactly" as they happened.  ::) Since you can remember these plays so well and Johnson's stat line, what was Prewitt's? As for as the negative stuff you remember, they have a coaching tape of the game and one thing about video it doesn't lie. As far as Mike Venson, he was on campus last year just had to get his grades in order. The guy is only 5-10, 170 lbs but he has low 4.4 forty speed and should help the running game. The coaching staff is holding a couple of scholarships for possible FBS transfers and I've heard they will take a certain RB if he becomes available.
4. Thanks for the reply WOSgrad. Maybe AAW can talk you into coming to Beaumont to watch the Cardinals and Jeremy Johnson who in my opinion has the highest up side and will be the starting QB in the fall since he is a freshman and can make great strides from now until he is a senior. After watching the "Crawfish Bowl" I'm ready to catch some Cardinals football games. Even though the teams were divided, I could see some improvement in depth, o-line, the running game and several individuals stood out on defense.
5. mffl, is Coach Woodard going to hire an additional position coach because Coach Hinshaw coaches the safeties besides being the DC? I would think they would want all 7 assistant coaches plus the GA who coaches the secondary.
6. So, grad are you an Lamar alumnus or just attended for a few years? Obviously, you went to law school somewhere else.
7.
I still say bring back Abatemarco. Yes he is annoying, but he is a great X and O guy who can turn the program into a winner, not in 5 years but in the first year. Tom Penders would be my second choice sense many of LU players were his recruits.
UNLV I respect you but no and no. They need to offer at leat $200K for this position and get a proven winner that isn't over 60. I would be worth it because Lamar has proved in the past that if they win people will fill the Montagne Center and they could average over 7K which would more than pay for the Head Coach and coaching staff.
8. Yea, he was wearing #30.
9. Mike Venson made a couple of nice runs.
10. If they don't fire him they could lose more than $125,000 in ticket sales for next year. The attendance for next season if Roc is back could be less than the ladies at 1.5K.
11.

What I am most interested in knowing is not how the QB's performed but how did the O-line and D-line look as well as the Linebackers, DB's etc.  Does the team look like they are getting stronger, bigger, quicker and in better shape?  Do the players look like they are understanding the offensive and defensive schemes better?  These are the things that will make the real difference next year.
I wish someone who saw the game would give their opinion on this!
O-Line/Dline looked pretty solid for being separated...Once they find a first team, Im sure it will be solid. DB's Corners did an outstanding job IMO...#24 was a good cover corner and tackler...Safety wise, Garrett made some big plays as always and expect more from him in the fall....LB's I'm not sure on...there was a little guy making plays all over the field for the white defense..#42 I think...he must have had 7-10 tackles(or assisted)..
Joseph Viator from LC-M is short but is listed at 195 lbs so he is pretty thick!
12. I saw the game and Jeremy Johnson looked the best to me both as a runner and passer. JMO. I'm not a coach but I know several and played from a youth until I graduated high school. I know it isn't popular but Bevil looked good to me. Prewitt made a couple of nice passes but isn't the running threat Bevil and Johnson are.
13. Congratulations and welcome to Lamar. The Cardinals are getting a great athlete and super leader. Hopefully, he'll be a proud alum one day! If you just look at the stats JJ had the better game but Bevil made two rushing TD's. I say they still don't know who the starting QB will be once fall gets here.
14. Congratulations on a great season and with a young team I'm sure you'll be back.
15. Aledo is just west of Fort Worth so I think TCU has a real shot landing him and I wouldn't be surprised if LT didn't get him a call. Then they are upgrading the stadium and photos I've seen of what the facility will look like is awesome. Then their football program is on the rise.
16. The WBB team won at Texas State with Jenna Plumley knocking down 8 treys and scoring a new career high 37 points. She broke another record for career 3 pt shots. Amazing what she has done in this program in two years! Also, last I heard the McNeese State WBB was losing. Would be great if that held up!
17. Once, the year Lamar beat Rice twice when they were ranked #1 in the nation. Lamar lost in the SLC tournament which Northwestern State won and got the automatic bid. Lamar got an at large bid. The only time in the history of the SLC two teams made it to a regional.
18. Let me get this straight, you didn't want to play for Lamar? But, you post several messages about Gilligan and the Lamar Baseball team and want them to get better so you can go watch some college baseball? I'm missing something here? If you don't like Lamar and just want to watch a college game Lake Charles isn't that far. I got to Rice in about 90 minutes and that was with detours as they were working on the Hwy. You could catch a few of their games. Just a thought.
19. Why is he worried about a resume? He isn't going anywhere!
20. Man, you are sensitive about Gilligan. Did he not recruit you or something? I wasn't taking up for a man in the Texas Baseball HOF and has a jersey in Cooperstown. I just stated an opinion that I believe bigger name college baseball programs with be willing to come to Lamar once they have renovated the Beck. Now, let's not get personal over an opinion on the baseball schedule as I agree the last few years it hasn't been where it once was.
21. I don't know if the funds are there but they are planning on spending $3 million in 2011, $1.5 million in 2012 and $500k in 2013 for a total of $5 million. The Beck could be really nice spending $5 million on renovations. Then softball is scheduled to start in 2013 and they are planning on spending $1.2 million on that facility. Coach Tidwell mentioned the softball program during his interview with Fox 4 Sunday night. [Hidden Content] The last minute of the interview he talks about starting a softball program.
22. Ramona Jones had about 650 assist and lead the team (Lamar) to an Elite Eight finish. If Miss Booker is as good as her mom she is a great player. Best of luck to the Ozen Panthers as our last UIL local ladies team still standing.
23. WBB is 23-5 on the season. I have been really following them since our MBB sucks so bad. Maybe you should do the same? Honestly, I didn't know if I would like watching WBB when I first started going to them after Coach Tidwell was hired but it is pretty entertaining.
24. Personally, I think once the Beck is renovated everyone will see Coach G start scheduling more difficult OOC teams.
