1. UNLV, let's just talk about coaches. Dr Simmons has stated Coach Tidwell will probably have to decide on either the AD job or the WBB job. Then we are probably going to fire our MBB head coach. They have to hire a softball coach pretty soon and give them 2 years of recruiting to have a decent team. Then look at how many coaches are on a FBS staff like UT and add that to Lamar's current staff of 9 with one being a grad assistant. Then even at a low level FBS conference the salaries of all the coaches are higher. I honestly think Lamar can do it but it's going to take a lot of money.
2. Congratulations as at least the WBB team knows how to win close games.
3. Any one know any many times this year a player had a career night offensively against the Cardinals. It has to be at least 6 times this season.
4. All I can do is shake my head. They find ways to lose!
5. Lamar is a second year program. While I'm not thrilled about Incarnate Word on the schedule I would be more upset if it was 2 or 3 years down the road. Lamar has 3 FBS opponents on the upcoming schedules. Hawaii, Okie State and A&M. Like prior post and an article in the PA news stated the NCAA nixed the TCU game. Hardly Lamar's fault.
6. We need to upgrade our facilities and like 41 stated Lamar needs to start a softball program but that can happen within a 2 year period and that includes building facilites, hiring a coach and recruiting a couple of classes of players. We could add swimming as a sport with a pool already on campus. However, I want Lamar to be competitive in all their sports and that is going to take dedication from the administration, to the alumni, students and supporter of Lamar. There has to be money to be raised from adding sports, coaching salaries, scholarships and travel expenses. Then you have to have things in order on the academic side as well. IMO this will happen but not by April 1st 2011. Plus, why join the WAC now? You don't know what is going to happen to the Big East, C-USA, Sun Belt and a couple other conferences in the near future. Speaking 1-2 years from now. Something better may role around as you never know. As for as SHSU, they are no farther alone in moving to a FBS conference than Lamar is.
7. The article is still up under men's basketball.  [Hidden Content]
8. When was the last time the Ea-gals won the Super-Bowl? A. One, B. Twice, C. Three times, D. Never. Your answer was D. That is correct! Yes, we have a winner here. What do you want to say to all the Ea-gals fan's? Ya'll suck!  :D
9. Personally I have no problem with his rants especially if a player make a poor decisions. I also was at the scrimmage where he made the team run after it was over. I have no problem with that (Have you seen the Miracle On Ice USA Hockey movie) He had the players skate after a GAME. My problems with Coach Roc is losing to teams his team is more talented than. Having large leads and loosing the game. Not make second half adjustments and always blaming loses on the players. A good coaches take on some of the criticism for losing games but I have yet to hear him blame his staff or himself for not having the team ready to play. Time for some new blood at the MBB head coaching position IMHO.
10.
She could barely make it up and down the floor for 10 minutes a game last year. And was to slow to guard anyone defensively. She was great her first couple years but never got really better. Hill was the one we miss the most. And why we have lost 2 conference games.
At least Hill is back in school to earn her degree. Both are valid points as Hill could go inside or hit a 3-pt shot. Williams, was very friendly with the fan's but knees were bad especially last season. Even with a bad season she is in the top 10 is scoring and I believe rebounding as well.
11. I doesn't take long to know Lamar's MBB team lost. What time was tip-off?
12. JJ, I was referring to a post provided by a different individual. [Hidden Content] It states here he is #17 at his position.
13.
He is only allowed to talk to a player so much. I'm sure he did all he could to get Ford.
Would think a coach would know that!
14. I think the signing of Daniel Campbell ended any thoughts of him coming to Lamar as this is a small class and the coaching staff has already signed Justin Brock who was a Super Team selection by the Beaumont Enterprise. You can read all the bios here [Hidden Content]
15. Did you see his position ranking of 17 in the nation? [Hidden Content]
16.
While getting Ford would have been a nice addition for Lamar.  I do not think it is as big of a let down as some are making it out to be. The Enterprise said Lamar is still searching for a break away runner?  Well obviously they have not seen Depauldrick Garrett Play. I promise you this, the first time Garrett plays next year for Lamar he will make everyone totally forget about Ford.  Garrett is a tremendous back with great hands and 4.5 speed.  I have seen both Garrett and Ford play up close and personal and Garrett is definitely the better back.  The only down side to Depauldrick is Lamar only has him for 2 seasons. I so wish the Enterprise would hire some sports writers who have a clue, because it's articles like the one in today's paper that make them look like complete morons.
Agree with your post but in college football you need at least two backs. I have seen DPG play and was disapponted Ford decided to go to SFA. But, if you look at the overall picture Lamar still did pretty good recruiting. Ford was a 2 star athlete and Campbell was a 5 star athlete headed to USC. I think the coaching staff can work with what we've got and no what we don't have.
17.

Thats right, even last year, pass happy SFA had more rushing attempts that Lamar did, and a ton more yards and 4 TD's. Kinda blows the theory their line can only pass protect, doesn't it!  :)
Not that we ever ran the ball effectively last year, but normally when teams fall behind, you abandon the running game and pass the ball so you can catch up...
Makes sense to me...
18. Coach Woodard stated in an article on the cards website that he reminds him of himself. Big, strong with great feet. He could stay at TE or move to the O or D line. Sounds like a good athlete.
19. Congratulations to a former LC-M Bear and his family. MSU is a good program, may all your dreams be fulfilled.
20. Thanks for the replies.
21. If it wasn't for AAW and Lazeek I wouldn't put two cents here but they both know a lot of people so if they say something is up conference wise with Lamar. I'll take note.
22. North, if you go in that direction you take Alvin Brooks out of the equation. Not sure if that is a good are bad move. The more I think about it I don't see BCG here as he and Roc are good friends. Obviously, I could be wrong about both.
23.
bigred360, I might just have to say negative comments again next year if it turns out this good for recruiting ;D I'll take all of the credit :D I have two former teammates and friends that coach at LU and do recruiting as well. I'll just make it annual bashing if they will get mad and continue this kind of recruiting.
Scalp'em, that isn't a term known for West Brook?? If Lamar continues this kind of recruiting and you feel it helps the team with an annual bashing go for it.  8) I'm sure James Brown being a legend at UT for the play versus Nebraska in the Big XII championship game and former West Brook star and Will Richard, who has a little more experience coaching at the college level is also a West Brook alumnus which helps to connect with local players. I'll give you all the credit.  :D
24.

If he runs a legit 4.5 as a TE and can catch the football we have a sleeper here. Still not very big 6-1, 210 lbs.
I'd make him a running back
Well, if L. Ford signs somewhere else that may be a possiblity.
25. Well, I guess I was wrong about MBB as Utah State is ranked 31st in one and 38th in another. However, they really have cracked the Top 25.
