There is plenty to be excited about.  8)
Is the offensive coordinator here to run these offenses?
The NFL and college football is a copy cat league so the OC can get plenty of tape on what offense he decides to run. Heck, he may have a few more running plays up his sleeve than he ran last year and will continue with his current offensive schemes.
2. I've heard from a very good source that although official team workouts have yet to begin the coaching staff is already saying "the others just can't do what he does with the football". It's a very good source so I'll wait and see if it turns out to be true.

4.
checked out the utes little brother's website they are as thrilled about Lamar as I am of them...hmmm---i could learn to hate em.......... man, i'd rather play southern skools..........
Yea, reading some of this stuff gets my blood to the boiling point. Is not like any of them are in the Top 25 in football, basketball or baseball. Don't know what they are so high and mighty about?
5. As soon as L. Ford and J. Johnsons authentic jersey's go on sell I'm buying a couple of each. It's great to get juco talent but you can't beat star athletes with four years of eligibility remaining. Two great players to build an offense around.
6. If he runs a legit 4.5 as a TE and can catch the football we have a sleeper here. Still not very big 6-1, 210 lbs.
7. Count me in too! I'll just have to give away the tickets to games I have to work.  8)
8. This is what scares me about the MBB program. Coach Tidwell and Coach Roc are good friends so he is going to give Roc every chance in the world to win. I say, at the end of the season Coach Tidwell tells Roc to fire a couple of his assistants so it appears they are doing something. To be honest one of the assistant coaches should already be history. I'm not going to name names but considering the places he has coached I would have expected better. Then he needs to look at the young coach at LSC-PA as a possible assistant. BTW, coachacola is right in that everyone (except for a few people) were rooting for Coach Roc to be successful.
9.
I don't know much about you guys.  How are your basketball/football teams?  Any facility upgrades?  What kind of alumni support do you have?
[Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] Hope this helps with getting to know us at Lamar University.
10. Good luck to Frog as I'll always support him and wished things were different for him at Lamar University. Best of luck with all your dreams and obtaining that degree as it sounds like you already have a family that needs your support.
11. Hey, I don't know if it is a great achievement or not. But, if there are only 27 public universities listed it must be pretty good.
12. Yep, you did Lazeek and it's the only thing keeping me from the bars. Then MBB program has me wanting to drink my blues away.  ;D
13. Another loss. Wonder what are the excuses this time?
14. Seems like everyone is getting some inside info about this. I just hope we are ready financially and the administration is willing to do everything in their power to make Lamar competitive in all sports.
15. He needs to get in with a good strength and conditioning program and gain about 50 pounds. However, he is pretty fast for a TE with a 4.5 forty and athletic with a 34 inch vertical. Lamar could use him like the Colts use Dallas Clark.
16. Thanks for the updates. Maybe the guys can rally in the final minutes?
17. The ladies are now 16-4 overall and 5-1 in conference. Congratulations to the lady Cards and the coaching staff.
18. That sounds really nice but for $17 million it better.  8) Off the subject, I read a little on Coach Fran's coaching staff and they sound really good. Congratulations!
19. I heard Coach Tidwell the AD/WBB Head Coach at Lamar state there were several very good juniors in SE Texas. He couldn't mention any names but did say one was the daughter of a former Lamar star player in Ramona Jones. Can someone name the top 3-4 juniors? Thanks.
20. DP, you are doing a great job with Lions. Congratulations to the kids!
21. Lamar had suites this year built onto the Montagne Center and they were sold for $25,000 with a 3 year commitment. [Hidden Content]
22. Problem for Lamar expanding Provost-Umphrey is we have the Montagne Center on one end and the athletic complex on the other. Then one side of the stadium is within 500-1000 feet of the feeder road to MLK. IMO, I would change the feeder road and make it one exit to the Athletic Complex. Then I would close the road from there to the Montagne Center. This would give architectural firm the room to add an upper deck on both sides of the stadium with a small bowl at the Montagne Center end of the facility. Then, I would have a multi level press box and suites on the home side of the complex. IMO, at least 3 levels so it would be user friendly to the coaching staffs of both schools, the media which includes the SID's of both school and TV and radio media, and finally the suites for the major donors still named in honor of the Morgan's.
23.

I do believe Lamar will be added as the next WAC member.  Benson will be sending invites to teams in April.  If Lamar is given an invite and accepts this year would be your last year in FCS, Lamar would be FBS transitional in 2012 (which would count as FBS wins for WAC teams) and Bowl eligible in 2013. Lamar would be on the same timetable as Texas State which is one year ahead of UTSA.  We have signed home and home series with Wyoming and Navy. Bobcat Stadium is scheduled to be complete with our new addition taking the capacity to 29,500.  Your old rival Louisiana Tech would be on your schedule again. I hope you guys join us in the WAC.
1st and last year in FCS.  I am taking a cautious approach.  It is my preference, but not a necessity to go FBS.  Saying that, I hope that Dr. Simmons is in the process of securing the funding that is necessary to have a real chance to be successful.  If we can't get the proper funding, it doesn't make sense to go forward
True North as you make a great point. Why move up if we can't financially support the move. I assume the administration has some people lined up to pony up some money if we go to a FBS conference. Plus, Lamar may take it to the students to support a renovation of Provost Umphrey to the 32k Dr Simmons has said he has plans for. Then there are the additional scholarships, additional coaching salaries, additional sports and more expenses with travel. If they sell it right to the students, I could see them passing an additional fee of $5-6 dollars per credit hour for an athletic fee. The students already passed the football fee and the fee for the rec. center so I can see them willing to add $5 or $6 per credit hour to have a great stadium, start another woman's program and maybe two with swimming, renovations to stadiums for other sports and to be peers in a better conference like the WAC, Sun Belt or another FBS conference.
24. Lamar needs to get Jeremy Johnson's number and the number of LaFredrick Ford once he signs and put official jerseys with their numbers on sell and I bet they would sell a lot over the next 4 years.
25. Coach Tidwell already acting like a seasoned AD.  8)
