1. I agree there is no need for a 40K stadium in Beaumont. However, I'd like to see a 30K stadium with all the bells and whistles.
2.

Boise st  33,500 Fresno 41,000 Idaho  16,000 La Tech 30,000 Hawaii  50,000 Nevada 30,000 New Mwxico 30,000 SJSU   30,500 UTSA   65,000 Texas st  16,000 Utah st  25,000 Lamar could add 13,000 and be in the pack. I preferr LU go 40,000.
now list the avg. attendance for those skools remaining in the WAC I'd rather LU be a very hard ticket to get than a half full 30k seater
Puddin, you'd need to have athletic facilities that compare to others in the same conference. Lamar has great football facilities compared to other SLC schools but not with the WAC or even the Sun Belt. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
3.
I know we Had a lot of curious fans but I think we won over most of those curious fans and will bring them back next year.
110% agree with this post. If you made it to a home Lamar game and the pregame atmosphere along with the kid's zone at the Montagne Center the vast majority of "curious" fans will come back.
4. Guess you didn't read my post as I stated J.J. Hays. It is not about a freshman from Silsbee.  8)
5. I believe every game was sold out this year but admit I saw a lot of open areas at one of the games. Man, the majority of the 43 are from the Golden Triangle. You are right, there are a lot of season ticket holders from Mid-County. You mentioned what school your wife went to but didn't mentioned yours, just saying you like LSU. Are you just a T-shirt fan there? You wouldn't be a Lamar alum but rather so to Baton Rouge to see a game? Then to compare a first year FCS program to those like A&M and LSU is ridiculous. What did you expect headed off to Provost Umphrey? I've talked to the people at Lamar about attendance and what they want is more student attendance. Lamar has almost 15,000 students now and if just a 1/3 make the game that would be 5K. Then we need more people from Beaumont. However, we are getting people from Orange, Lumberton, Silsbee and those areas. Then there is the oldest reason in the book to come to Lamar football game and that is the team has to win. Period!
6.
I don't know what people are talking about. The stadium was fiiled to capacity this year. Personally, I liked the tailgating better then the games I went to. I thought the team wasn't good, but the pre-game activities were fun. Sorry for bashing the team, but it wasn't like watching college football. Here's my two cents. LU will either have to recruit alot of local kids in the future to keep local fans going to the games or some how start recruiting some five star players. I don't think very many five star players will be going to LU. so your best bet is local talent. If it doesn't happen, then who knows what will happen in the future. Not trying to be negative, but like other people have already said, this area is more HS football then college football. My wife is an Aggie, so we go to A&M games and I'm a LSU fan. We go to Baton Rouge for games as well. It's hard to compete with those big school games.
We have 43 young men on the 2010 roster from SE Texas and the Greater Houston area. We have verbal commitments from a kid from Nederland, West Brook and a juco player who played prep ball at Ozen. Then we have a FBS transfer who is from Silsbee. Then in Dec. we signed DePauldrick Garrett formerly from WO-S and Adrian Guillory who played prep ball at Beaumont Central. So, I think we are recruiting local talent. Maybe you'd like to review the roster and signees. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
7. Glad we won but how do we continue to blow double digit leads in the 2nd half of games?
8. Dang, I'll be sick if they loss this one.
9. God, what happened to the lead. This is a two possession game now!
10. Read on another board Harris has 17 pts.
11. If James is hurting the team with his sloppy play put Harris back in.
12. James, Miles, Lamb, Davis and Brazier need to be in the game now.
13. Besides Harris' 4 TO's you posted earlier who else is playing sloppy with the ball?
14. Honestly UTA is a difficult place to play with it being on a stage and the lighting isn't real good. Still can't have 11 TO's in one half.
15. Geez, 8 TO's in less than a half. Well, that will keep a team shooting poorly in the game!
16. Smith, Lamar is having spring ball starting in Feb. I don't know when their pro day is but I would assume it would be later in the spring. I think J.J. Hays has the potential to play at the next level but I'm not sure who else has that kind of talent this year. [Hidden Content]
17. Come on Lamar, I know "The Stage" is a different type of set-up for basketball but let's get a W with no excuses.
18. WAC isn't inviting anyone until April.
19. What about a offer to walk-on? If he does well then put him on scholarship as we'll have about 25 available next season. He looks good on the video and we are loosing several WR's after this season.
20.

The South Dakota game had bad attendance because of a few different factors.   1) it was cold and rained most of the day 2) they had the game on TV 3) High School Football Playoffs started that weekend I am not sure about the last game because I did not make it into the stadium from the parking lot. I would assume that because PNG was playing about 10 miles away at the same time for both games that had alot to do with the attendance of the last 2 games. If I was lamar I would think about scheduling all your home games before HS playoffs start and play last 2 games on the road but that is just me.
didnt rain a drop at the game..dont hear Aggies, gators, wolverines complaining about the weather you cant outdraw westbrook and central , you aint ready for FBS
Just to clarify, Westbrook and Central weren't in the same ballpark in attendance as the Lamar Cardinals. I believe Javelina mentioned a PNG playoff game at the same time at the new football complex in Beaumont. Lamar has a lot of alumni from PNG and I'm sure it did effect attendance some. What the guys in the athletic development office want is more Lamar students at the games.
when people choose high school over college, maybe you oughta stay FCS.
Some people may choose high school over college (Lamar) for several reasons. 1 They didn't attend Lamar 2. They aren't fan's of FCS college football. 3. There are other outdoor activities for SE Texas. 4. They may have kids or relatives who play high school football. So brother you are preaching to the choir here. I heard from an individual who recently made a donation to the baseball program that he heard Dr Simmons talking about the WAC. We are to play our first season of football in the SLC so the higher ups aren't going to say anything publicly to upset the administration of the SLC until there is something definite regarding the WAC and Lamar University.
21. ForeverADog, thanks for the updates and I'll take a W after losing to McNeese and Jeana not playing.
22. Lamar women need to keep making free throws to win. Up 60-56 on UTA with 18.5 seconds left. [Hidden Content]
23. I hope Ang Green is in the game along with Loyd, Henderson and Whitaker.
24. I can't believe it is this close as another site posted the Lady Cardinals are holding UTA of 19 percent second half shooting.
