1. BTW, salaries for coaches in all sports would have to be competitive with coaches at other WAC schools. This is the major hurdle I see at Lamar as well as renovating and construction of other athletic facilities. Can we raise the money for travel, salaries and renovation and new construction to be competitive in the WAC?
2.
Check out these head coaching salaries for the WAC by USA today.  Rumor is that Mark Hudspeth at USL got 350-375K with incentives as well. Following are the WAC coaches' salaries, according to USA Today report: $450,000 — Sonny Dykes, Louisiana Tech; $403,820 — Mike McIntyre, San Jose State; $375,000 — DeWayne Walker, New Mexico State; $354,400 — Gary Andersen, Utah State; $350,000 — Dennis Franchione, Texas State; $263,187 — Robb Ankeny, Idaho; $200,000 — Larry Coker, UTSA. Any ideas on where Coach Woodard would rank here if the jump is made?
I think Coach Woodard makes about $140,000 but if we were to make the jump to the WAC, I could see the athletic department raising his salary to at least $200,000 with incentives.
3. I can't believe spring drills are so close but I believe Lamar is doing the right thing in holding them before spring break. I saw were Beard, Dorsey and one other player will be held out of spring ball due to injuries.
4. Agree on both points.
5. Do you guys see SHSU coming if Lamar leaves for the WAC as they really need two more schools?
6.

I heard Skelton wanted to get back to Mississippi. Do you think he'd want to come back to Lamar?
You think a DI job would pay better than a JC in Miss?
No doubt a DI job would pay better but the man has a family. His parents and his wifes parents live in Mississippi. He has school age kids. Is he willing to move them again? Most of their relatives and friends live in Mississippi. So, there is more things than money for a decision to return to Texas for the Head Coaching duties if he was offerred the job. If it is just money, than yes I think he'd take it in a heartbeat.
7. That would be a good payout for McNeese if that could get done. I have a feeling that program at Pitt will get turned around soon as there are good players left on that team. Well, I just read their TB is turning pro so that might slow things down a little.
8. I know about the NBA 6th man award but at Lamar there is no 6th man as on day it is one player then the next it's another. badnadn, I'm sure you know more about basketball than myself. But, it only takes an average fan to see changes need to be made at the Head Coaching position at Lamar University.
9. He was honorable mention to the Southwest Junior College Football Conference All Conference Team. [Hidden Content]
10. Me too. But while in the SLC I hope they keep the LU vs McNeese game as the last regular season game as it is a great rivalry game.
11. I heard Skelton wanted to get back to Mississippi. Do you think he'd want to come back to Lamar?
12. So name a few college or pro players you've heard of wanting to come off the bench. If McNeese is better than Lamar as a basketball team, I'm sorry but Roc recruited these players so it still falls back on him. Believe me, I've given Roc 100% support until this year and I waited until after the 12th game to state an opinion of Coach Roc and his coaching abilities. Playing at home, McNeese should not have been close enough for two missed FT's to make a difference. I didn't see the game last night but I've been to or listened to at least 4 games Lamar was ahead by double digits and lost the game. It is time for a new Head Coach for the Lamar Men's basketball team.
13.
BTW, sat with Jeremy Johnson last night at the Lamar game, he is pumped about being here at Lamar. He told me they started workouts this week, already throwing the pigskin around. I could tell he is very excited and ready to get started.
Glad to hear he is excited to be a Cardinal.

Oh well, I can wait to play the Cowboys in Provost Umphrey next fall. BTW, I'm hearing more rumors about the WAC and Lamar officials. [Hidden Content]
Come one, don't be a tease.  What are you hearing?
Coach, I should have stated read on bigredinsider.com. The information CardAmbassador posted on the site earlier today. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

16. Yep, I've read that too. Should be a pay increase from what he would have made at Tulsa.
17. Prayers sent from Orange.
18.
Been Caught Grinkin' IF LU forked out big bucks, and IF BCG got drunk one night and accepted the LU job (Beer Goggles), and IF he turned LU into a winner in a few years, he'd be gone ASAP!!! Skelton would be affordable, has prooven himself as both a recruiter and an X' & O's man, and would have to win over a longer period of time at LU to get a better gig. Just a thought.
Man, I was just telling Green Menace who BCG was.  :D
19. Man, I didn't go to the game as I had to work so I don't know if James played well or not. I don't know about you but I didn't like coming off the bench in any sport I played. Didn't play BB in high school. Would Mike Olliver come of the bench and spell Terry Long? Sorry, but you start your best 5 players. It is not just getting into a rhythm but confidence as well. Then you might have a deep bench but the majority of minutes goes to the Top 7-8 guys. Allen Iverson might not be the most popular player to ever play in the NBA but he cared about starting. Honestly, please list a few players who you know would rather come off the bench than be a starter? Finishing falls on the COACH, as he should have the right players in the game and playing the right schemes to WIN THE GAME.
20. Billy Clyde Gillispie....
21. Well, he scored 22 against UCA and was the SLC POW so he needs to get into a rhythm. He is at least as good a Miles and Harris.
22. Roc is so hard headed he doesn't even start a player who scored 52 in a game this year. ::) He had no clue on his in game rotation! Coach Tidwell 7-8 is unacceptable with 4 of the wins against non DI schools!
23. Sleepy, I hope you aren't referring to Alvin Brooks. I liked him as a player and he appears to be a good assistant but when given the Head Coaching duties at UH he left that team in terrible condition. As I stated a few weeks ago, there needs to be a change. I like Roc as a person but he isn't getting the job done. Just don't think AB would be the answer. Hoop_Insider what is your opinion of Alvin Brooks as a Head Coach?
