1.
Good for Riley. Sad he isn't coming here. He could have really helped. But wish him the most success possible at McNeese. (except against Lamar ;D ) this also really helps McNeese next season. Can't wait for the rematch from last years great game.
You called it. Good pick-up for McNeese as he'll really help that team. Will make for a great final regular season game next year versus the Cards.
2. Congratulations, it was well deserved!
3. DP, I hope you are wrong too!  8)
4.

I do not go to a Lamar game to see Idaho or ULL I go to see Lamar. I don't care if Lamar is playing as the president of Ohio St. would say the sisters of the poor.  I am just happy Lamar has football!!  I will worry about conferences later down the road
Eureka! Someone finally gets it! We're here to support Lamar U, not some Sun Belt, C-USA, or WAC team that has a distantly familiar name. When people in Beaumont figure out that: UT, Texas A&M and Tech don't spend money in Beaumont, don't care what goes on here, and don't educate the majority of our youth, then Lamar U will finally have arrived!
You're right they won't get a Big XII team in football. However, in the past they have got both UT and A&M to Beaumont for baseball. They got UT, Kansas State, Baylor and Texas Tech in basketball that I am aware of and I'm sure there are a few I've missed.
5. Congratulations to John Payton it is an honor long over due.
6. Congratulations to all the players selected and well done by the staff of setxsports.com.
7. AAW, you must know about Caz as I have never mentioned him being a pole vauler in high school. Yes, he was pretty good as he went to state in that event. Forgot, in basketball he could dunk! So, I don't remember his vertical but at 5-11, it must have been pretty good.
8. Yea, he later signed a free agent contract with Tampa Bay and made it to the final cut. Now, he is at Church on the Rock, which is near the Lamar campus. The way they throw the ball now in the NFL and use smaller WR's in the slot I really believe he would have made it in today's NFL. He was 5-11, 180 and ran a 4.4 forty. Could bench press over 380 and do 225 over 20 times. Great athlete. Check the year 1982. [Hidden Content]
9. I'm hopefully both the men's and women's teams can win at home.
10. He had made some bone headed decisions in the past. Like not talking to his players at Alabama after taking the A&M job. Left and had others gather his stuff and send it to College Station.  ::)
11. Well, you can add ex members of the SLC to the list that made it to the National Championship game in I-AA now (FCS). Louisiana Tech in 1984, Northeast Louisiana 1987 and Arkansas State in 1986. You'd love the Arkansas State team. Guess what offense they ran and their Head Coach? Larry Lacewell was the Head Coach at ASU. He was at OU for a long period of time under Barry Switzer prior to becoming Head Coach of the Indians. Later he was a long time scouting director for the Dallas Cowboys from 1992-2004. Offense they ran at ASU was the wishbone!  :D Long-time friend was a 2 time All-SLC WR from that team. Also, the last time McNeese made the finals was 2002. Also, the SLC has a automatic bid to the FCS playoffs so if a team wins conference they automatically are in the FCS tournament. Now back to the topic of Riley Dodge making a visit to Lamar University. It would be a long shot for him coming to Lamar for a number of reasons. One being we are getting another FBS transfer at QB. Still, I am hopefull of landing him as you can't have too much talent!
12. SFA is loosing 12 seniors with Jeremy Moses being one of them. Moses won the Walter Payton Award and they didn't make it past the first round. Losing at home to Villanova 54-24 so I don't see their chances any better than they were this year. I know a few months ago he publicly stated he was happy and was staying but I didn't think he would and it ended up he is indeed transferring. If things worked out differently for Coach Whitten and the Angelo State job, Todd Dodge could have been here.
13.
Riley will go to McNeese or SFA. I highly doubt he goes to Lamar.
McNeese has 4 returning QB's on their roster and SFA has a transfer from UTEP. I would not bet against Lamar as they have a couple of ex UT star players on the coaching staff in Coach Woodard and Coach Brown. Riley originally committed to the Longhorns before signing with his dad. Then there is our new football facilities which are the best in the SLC. BTW, I believe you stated before that he wouldn't leave UNT a few months ago. [Hidden Content]

15. Sounds good to me. Bring on McNeese State!
16. Great job ladies! I can see the WBB team winning a lot of basketball games in a row now. UCA is probably the second best team in the eastern division.
17. Now, who was the guy that said Mike James wasn't impressive against Rice? Actually, he was the 40th best JUCO recruit by jucojunction.com. Lamb is a great athlete and gets a lot of his points from rebounds and shots near the basket. Glad James is getting more minutes and believe he deserves to start but obviously that is a coaching decision. To answer Lazeek, we have to win a lot more games before I change my opinion.
18. Thanks for posting the highlights.
19.

252 comments about the article and you are right some are brutal. Well, you can't make everyone happy.
Some are worse than others, a lot of that has to do a lot more with the score and Coach Roc telling him to keep running up the score than with him actually getting the record. Think back to last year when the Houston Yates coach caught all the flack for stomping schools, I think that's the same anger.
They are lucky Billy Tubbs wasn't coaching. You didn't dribble out the last few minutes of the game with him as Head Coach. Honestly, I liked Coach Tubbs because you knew what you were getting with him.
20. He played that long because there were several records in reach. You are correct 28 is over half. I read your post about Corey Allmond versus Kentucky. He did nail 11-15 3 pt FG's but he wasn't close to 50 points. I believe he scored 37 and he played over 28 minutes in that game. Great game, where is he playing now? You just gotta say something negative. Guess it is a BearKat thing. You can't tell me if one of SHSU players were in reach of a few school records we'd be having this conversation.
21.

I don't understand it either. He continues to start Miles and Harris who are both under 6-0 and they both aren't good shooters from the perimeter. Neither would start for most teams in the SLC but for some reason Roc keeps them in the starting line-up. We aren't great in the post either and our defense isn't very good but you better have a few guys who can light it up from the outside. James, Adams and Davis can hit for a pretty good percentage from the 3 point line.
You do realize that Milk Harris is shooting over 45% from 3 point range and leading the team??? Also Adams is streaky from behind the line. He is shooting around 32%...I wouldn't call that "Lighting It Up" James should get more PT and maybe even start over Miles, but Harris has prooven so far this year to be an improved perimiter threat. They key for me right now is narrowing down the bench so that the guys with the hot hand each night get the most PT. It drives me insane when Roc has a guy that is hot and he pulls him never to see the court again or until it's too late. A few weeks back Brazier scored at will down low against Canisius and he took him out early in the second half and didn't put him back in until the 2 minute mark when the game was already out of hand and the inside game was an afterthought.
You must like Harris as he has only attempted 37 trey's all seaon. Mike James is at .425% and he has attempted 40 3-pt shots in only 8 games. If Adams could get in a rhythm and stay in the game his percentage would be better than .32%. Agree with the rest of your post!
22. That is unbelievable, the kid is scoring almost a point per minute of playing time and you think he is better coming off the bench. What is Miles and Harris' scoring average per minute?
23.
besides a possible bowl game on espn 2 in front of 11,000 people in a 60,000 seat stadium... what is a benefit of joining the wac?  a bunch of teams, far away, that people in se texas could care less about. its the worst FBS conference in the nation...why is it soooo much better than the southland?
More money to play at other FBS schools. More national attention than the SLC. Have you read what sports writers are saying about the SLC after Mike James record breaking game? All of them don't have a very high opinion of the SLC. Other FBS schools would be willing to travel to Beaumont. I'm not talking about the Top 50 programs. However, it is possible to get UH, UNT, UTEP, Rice, ULL, UL-Monroe, Arkansas State and so on. The SLC is dying. I don't hate the SLC and if we stay I'm cool with that for the moment.
24. I would be more concerned if the game was in Arkansas but being a home game I think the Lady Cardinals take it by 10. Now, Coop wants a prediction for the men. I'm hoping for the best and some changes in the starting line-up and how the rotation in being used. I'll stay with the Cards 72-66. Hope I don't eat crow after the game.
