WAC might replace Hawaii with Texas school

It will have one left with the remainder being secondary agreements.
In another thread Coachcola posted that the NCAA would determine in a few weeks if the WAC would keep its AQ to the BB tourney. Based on what would they loose it. Looking at the conference standings they currently have nine teams this year and even if they are loosing three they will be picking up two with TS-San Marc and UTSA. There are already AQ conferences with eight teams.
Based on the current rules, they would lose it... This has some more on it... [Hidden Content] ... and the general thought is it will not change.
How many Bowl agreements does the SLC have? The SLC is sinking as it is only going to get worse and SHSU can sit back and watch it unfold or start looking at other options. Lynn Hickey and UTSA, nor the leadership at Texas State would not have left the SLC for a league that isn't going to keep a AQ into the NCAA basketball tournament. If you were hearing rumors of the WAC losing it's bid to the NCAA tournament from WAC member schools that are staying I would be a little more concerned. The worse thing for Lamar is the WAC loses their bid and we stay in the SLC. Never have understood why you worry so much about what is going on in Beaumont and Lamar University. -
YAWN ::) ::) ::) Do it against DI competition and then I'll be interested. This is like getting excited about the Varsity team beating up on the JV team. I would be shocked if it didn't happen. Congrats for the young man though, his names in the books for nailing about 50% of his shots against a DIII school Does this mean Roc gets to keep his job now? All well with the Cardinal faithful?
JJ, your a pretty cool Kat and I like reading most of your post but you must not be much of a basketball fan. That's okay because I like watching the sport but don't really know the x's and o's of the game. However, I can appreciate a young man scoring 52 points in 28 minutes of action. James played less than half a game. If he played the whole game I would agree it wouldn't be that big a deal. No, not all is well with the Cardinal faithful regarding the men's basketball program.

I don't understand it either. He continues to start Miles and Harris who are both under 6-0 and they both aren't good shooters from the perimeter. Neither would start for most teams in the SLC but for some reason Roc keeps them in the starting line-up. We aren't great in the post either and our defense isn't very good but you better have a few guys who can light it up from the outside. James, Adams and Davis can hit for a pretty good percentage from the 3 point line. I have supported Roc since he was first hired and basically gave the position of Head Coach. Now, he needs to finish first in the eastern division of the SLC or he needs to be history. -

No Sgt., I really don't as I was giving your son props for his completion percentage. Did you read the next sentence? I stated that was great at any level. Does the word "Great" mean anything to you? Well, it is better than good. ;D -

Too small, I guess your new Head Coach hasn't seen Drew Brees. He is listed at 6-0, 209. Dodge is listed at 6-0, 194. Agree he has been prone to injury. -

The Sun Belt doesn't have any openings so that's not an option.
Totally agree with you coach. Plus, there was is going to be a western and eastern division in the WAC so we won't be playing teams in the western division every year. -

If he was that good at UNT why isn't the Head Coach giving him an opportunity to be the starting QB next year? In my opinion, as I stated a couple of months ago, he was going to transfer anyway. I don't know about you, but if someone fires my dad I'm not staying either. -

Dang, with all that talent they should have went pretty deep in the playoffs. :D No need for excuses for no other players given scholarship opportunities. I'm not talking about just the o-lineman but the RB or one of the 3 all-district WR's. Can we please get back on the topic "Dont Assume Johnson Will Start". -

That isn't the case with a RB, WR, O-lineman, D-lineman, LB, DB or PK. I've seen a 3A RB who signed with UT that was bigger than all of his O-lineman. No need to call out sleepy.
Ok..........I will call out you. :D "all of his O- Line" ......... same size as the the other players that they played against. 2......two......first team all district O-Line players. two...2.........second team all district O-Line players. Also, with 4 all-district O-lineman how many were offered scholarships? -

It's not like he won't have competition there. SFA added Tim Curry a transfer from UTEP. He is 6'4, 210. He will have 3 years eligibility left to play for the Jacks. -

Lazeek, that would be great but we have to add softball and built a complex. There are plans to renovate Vincent-Beck. The track and field complex (Ty Terrell) needs to be relocated. Then there are plans to add a practice facility to the Montagne Center. All this and then renovate again Provost Umphrey to FBS standards. We are talking millions of dollars here and that isn't even talking about improving our academic status. I know you and sleepy are in the know there at Lamar. I'm sure if there is an announcement to come soon the administration and athletic leaders at LU knows what they are doing. -

Well, congratulations on the win and to Mike James and the scoring record. I really hope Coach Roc has figured out Mike James needs to be on the floor at least 30 minutes per game. Good luck in conference Cards! -

Yep, they (UCA) shot like 20 FT's in Conway last year when they beat Lamar. Coach Tidwell still gets upset when talking about that game. I'm sure he'll have the Ladies ready for the Sugar Bears. Speaking of Herbert, she is a flat out stud and I can't believe she ended up at UCA. She has over 30 double-double for her career and she is just a sophomore. Last season, if Jenna Plumley didn't win the POY honors it would have been Herbert. She did take home the Freshman of the Year honors. -
67% vs 57%.....what else needs to be said? they both had drops....etc..one played 3A and one played 5A what's your point....? ???
Sgt, I believe my prior post clearly state what I thought needed to be said. Sorry, if you can't figure it out. I'm not going be try to take lightly a 67% completion percentage. That is great at any level. I think Jeremy's dad made some valid points as to why his completion percentage was down compared to others. The comparison you make about 3A and 5A is true but there are very talented players to play HS ball at small schools. There just aren't as many of them. To be honest here and obviously JJ dad has too much class to say it. But, JJ had 3A talent around him. The O-lineman were 3A level, WR's 3A level, RB's 3A level and so on. I'm sure there were 2-3 drops per game. Plus, throwing the ball down the field instead of hitch passes and screens to the RB and WR's makes a difference. As far as talent that has came from small schools. You can add Troy Aikman, Tony Dorsett, Emmitt Smith, Colt McCoy, Eric Dickerson, Tramain Thomas (Arkansas), Sean Weatherspoon (Missouri), Trey Franks (Oklahoma), and possible NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Earl Thomas from 3A WO-S and UT. Honestly, there are too many to count who starred at a small HS. BKJ85, thank you and Jeremy for coming to Lamar when he had so many other options. Welcome to Lamar University, we are glad Jeremy chose to become a Lamar Cardinal. -
There's a lot that can go into that at the HS level. Chances are, there were 2 or 3 drops a game by his receivers. Not saying they did or didn't, but those happen pretty frequently at the HS level compared to the college level which would bring that percentage down. And I'm not saying he'd be good at either position, just spit balling and ''what-ifing.'' Either way, LU is better off this season than last, and will be solid contenders in the slc.
Despite the mathematical question of....how much would 2 or 3 catches help 57%....I still like JJ as a QB, but think he can help LAMAR as a back up(today), on special teams, and yes at WR. again, still say this team is prewits
See this post about completion precentages. Now, look at a post on another thread regarding completion recentage from the same poster. -
I think a healthy competition at QB is a good thing for LU. Why get so worked up about it? The coaches will select who is best for the team when the time comes. Realistically a QB who had a shot to play for WVU, Baylor Michigan and others would seem to have the upper hand.
Thanks for the post Gabe. There is going to be competition at every position per Coach Woodard. Lamar is only a 2nd year program so there will be several changes to the starting line-up. I think the O-line will have a few changes. Heck, Lamar even brought in a PK to compete with Stout. The guy was a 2nd team juco All-Conference selection but you don't hear the debating going on about that competition. Makes be wonder why all the debating and personal attacks? Coach Woodard is going to start the best QB that gives his team a shot at winning football games, period. I'm with you on who it would appear to have the upper hand but it will all get worked out by September.
