He is tall so it doesn't appear he is moving very fast. I bet he runs at least a 4.7.
??? Did you watch him play any? He is SSSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW. But like I said he has a legit arm. If he plays QB he will be a pocket passer. Sonnier only ran in the 4.6 range! And he was football fast. 6'5" 250 pounders dont run 4.7's very often! I'd be willing to bet Cam Newton will only clock 4.6ish at the combine.
Cam Newton 4.6ish. I'll take that bet and it has to be at the combine where they usually run slower times. Fair? 2. Wish him the best of luck in the future. But, you don't seem to know Lamar's scholarship limits. Lamar only had two seniors. Everyone else is returning. They can only sign 13-15 players total. So, they can't sign a young man just to land another one. They need too much help in other areas of the team like OL and DL. This may tell you more about our scholarship limits. [Hidden Content]
3. You are right I don't know L. Ford and you probably do. However, I was just going by the post Ford made on this thread.
Being that he is from Kirbyville (Call) and has a lot of family in Beaumont and some in Orange, you might think Lamar would have the inside track especially with their lack of run game but I personally don't think Coach Woodard and staff are pushing hard enough and showing as much interest as some of the other schools to land him.  The article is true in that he hasn't made up his mind, so more than likely the staff that shows the most interest will land him.
I've been to one football game in Kirbyville and that was when Butch Hadnot played there. I have family that lives in Merryville, La which is about 25 miles from Kirbyville. So, I've been there for other occasions. Ford posted Lefredrick Ford has a lot of family in Beaumont and some in Orange. I think they would count as familiar faces. Then there is distance from Kirbyville to Nacogdoches which is about 95 miles and Kirbyville to Beaumont which is 54 miles. He can go to Lamar and be away from home but still an hour away from a home cooked meal.  ;)
4. Come on, Forney is faster than 5.0 in the forty. He is tall so it doesn't appear he is moving very fast. I bet he runs at least a 4.7. I agree, he will probably change positions at the next level.
5. Lord I hope he is not the one Lazeek is talking about. Did Forney even make All-District? I think he has some talent but I was thinking he'd go juco and work on being a dual threat QB.

how hard is it to do this

that runs infront of wo-s high school  to Reggie Garrett ave. this would be so fitting if thay can do this
Not to burst your bubble, skipper.  But I bet that if you were a resident on Newton St., you might not be so anxious for this change as you have to notify EVERYBODY that you believe would try to contact you of your change of address. I do think there should be something done to remember Reggie, but perhaps something on the WO-S campus itself.
WOS, not to disagree with you but a change of address isn't that difficult and this would be a great way to honor Reggie for years to come. Heck, change the name of Western I don't care. Plus, I'm a LC-M alumnus but this tragedy has really effected me. If I was asked if I was willing to have a address change for RG on the street I live I would humbly do so.
7. I don't know as I think Ford may know a lot more about L. Ford than you or I know. SFA is a great program but Lamar has the best facilities in the SLC. Plus, SFA already has a great tradition and he could help Lamar begin one as I hear Lamar has a verbal from a stud QB already so he would not have to carry the team on his own.
I can tell you for sure that Ford has not committed to Lamar.  Lamar is on his list of possibles.
For a young man from a local HS to rush for over 5,500 yards in his HS career; I hope the coaches at Lamar are showing him some love!
9. Yep, I agree great job and class act to have Reggie Garrett as Team Captain.  8)
10. Seriously, you read the article and didn't see Lamar listed?
11. Sorry, I'll post a little information I found on rivals. 12. It was our first year and we were 1-3 versus the SLC but I see what you are saying and agree we need to work on the football program and watch the university's growth.
13. Congratulations on a great HS career and best of luck in the future.
14. Brett Farve?
15. Congratulations to the Lady Cards.
16. [Hidden Content] I'm sure there are others that aren't on this list. From Coach Woodard, they are going to recruit the Juco level hard for OL and DL and then take the best athletes available. I hear next year, they will concentrate on the high school level.
17. It may be helping the team get better but Nicholls State is among the lowest in attendance in all of DI basketball. A large crowd for them is about 1K. So Beaumont is no different that any other place. Win against good competition and the fan's will attend. I do agree, I would rather see Lamar loose at home to a quality opponent than watch them against a non DI school.
18. I'm personally in no rush to go FBS unless things change in the SLC with other schools leaving and adding DII schools in their place. I do think that should be the goal of the admininstration because it is the most prestigious level of DI football. As for expanding the stadium, with the right architecture they can add a upper deck on the home side too. Possibly even having a small bowl for added seating. JMO
19.
LU was 1-aa playoff eligible 82-89.  But only "at large" eligible 87,88,89 due to not being in a conference for football.
Thanks for clearing that question up smith. I do remember when Burton Murchison played at Lamar, the Cardinals were in the I-AA Top 20 for a few weeks. That was some during the 80's.
20.
Still really sloppy for them but they are shooting lights out. Now lead 65 to 35 with ten minutes left.
By sloppy, are you talking about TO's again?
21. Sounds like the ladies are playing pretty well and not taking Southen lightly.
22. That is a great event for those kids and a class act by Coach Tidwell and the Lady Cards.
23. The I-AA, now FCS was started in 1978. I'm not sure what year the SLC joined but Lamar has never made the playoffs.
24.
Sorry bigred360...I was there (I live in Houston and am a LU alum...my first game of the year). I was very disappointed in the play of James. I didn't want him in there at the end based on what I saw. I thought he played terrible and got some quality minutes early on and did not produce. But what's the deal with Devon Lamb?...is he in the doghouse? And Davis who made some critical 3's only got in the game due to others being in foul trouble. We have NO inside game. Coy Custer is the best we have...mature and a leader...perhaps a step slow but we should play him 'til he fouls out. Brown shows flashes of athleticism, but RICE had their way with him. I like Minor's hustle...BUT, he missed the shot that cost us the game. Hard to sugar coat that...he was wide open.
You stated he played some quality minutes? He only played 8 for the whole game. I must admit he did have a TO and was 0-2 from the field but you can't base or I hope you don't base your opinion of Mike James' abilities in 8 minutes. He also had 1 rebound and 1 assist in those 8 minutes. Lamb is a great athlete but he can't shoot the ball. He is about 30% from the FT line this season and Minor is a good defensive player but he wouldn't be the one I would have taking the last shot. He stopped for a 15 footer and could have drove to the basket and drawn a foul or made a layup. Agree we are lacking in the post but I think Brazier along with Custer are the two better post we have. Another question I have is where is Tremell Adams? He scored 31 points in one scrimmage and 38 in another yet the coaching staff isn't playing him. I guess the scrimmages don't mean much? I'll leave the rest for the debate about Mike James to Hoop_Insider, Lazeek or someone who knows more about the game of basketball than I do. I'm really just a disappointed fan right now.
