1. I'm not a coach and think another person in the profession will give a better comment than I but here it goes. I am not looking at the win loss record but to which teams we lost to and the manner in which we have been beat. South Alabama should have never shut us out at home. North Dakota should not have beat us 31-6. Georgia State, we had a chance to beat them if the defense could have make a couple of stops on 3rd down. I'm not saying we should have beat all three teams but I'll address the problems I think the Cardinals are facing this season. 1. Special teams. We've had a couple punts blocks this season. Last week we should have had a TO because instead of fair-cathing the ball on a pooch kick the up guy makes a decision to attempt to run with the ball. The kicker keeps missing FG's and extra point attempts. We've had a punt returned for a TD against SHSU. The kicker or the coaching staffs plan to pooch kickoff gives the other team field position which is another area of concern. You can't lose the battle of field position every game and expect to win. 2. The offense. Where do I being? I'm not impressed at all with the man calling the plays be that the Head Coach or the OC. I assume it is the OC since Coach Woodard is a defensive guy. I know we are young but so are 2 of the 3 teams I mentioned earlier. We can't run the ball for yardage or for TD's. Too many 3 and out possessions. Then the TO's are killing the team and keeping the defense on the field too long. Hopefully, Prewitt can manage the game better that Bevil and learn that sometimes it is better to punt the ball than throw into triple coverage. Oh, I forgot we aren't great at punting the ball.  We can't run the ball but no one wants to point fingers at the OL or the RB's. So, there is only one other place to place the blame and that is with the OC and his schemes for running the ball. 3. I do see progress with the defense and they seem to be tackling better. Starting to cause a few TO's and they are getting better at getting off the field on 3rd down. They are getting more people to the ball and if one area of the team should be hurting due to injuries it is the defense. However, IMO they are the one unit that is showing some progress.
 2.
He initially was in the wide receiver position and has moved to the QB spot. I was at the GSU game and after the first couple of offensive possessions, Doug was on target with almost every pass. He took controll of the offense and you could see him talking to the other players and leading the team. Something I believe we were lacking. Impressive for his first start.
I was impressed too for a freshman on the road in a professional stadium I thought he played well. However, the elements may be against him in the form of rain this weekend and a lack of a running game will not help. People you can't have it both ways. The OC can't be great and the OL and RB's good because we still do not have a RUSHING TD this season and are averaging less than 3.0 yard per carry. Then, if we were in the SLC this season we would probably be leading the conference in TO's.
 3. SD has lost 4 of their last 5 so they aren't exactly setting the world on fire. However, they did beat Minnesota out of the Big 10 and North Dakota who Lamar lost to a few games back. The weather may be a factor in this game as there is a 80% chance of rain Saturday which will hurt our attendance and probably hurt our passing game. Their QB has over 2,000 yards passing this season with 18 TD's and 6 interceptions. Their best RB has over 700 yards rushing and 4 TD's. Their kicker is 10 of 14 with a long of 49 yards. The punter averages over 43 yards per punt with a long of 60. The kicker appears to have a strong leg as he has 2 TB on the season. So, I think they are better in 2 of the 3 major aspects of football. I believe they are better on offense and special teams. Thus, I think it will be a hard fought game. The Coyotes 20-10 over the Cardinals.
 4. I haven't even posted in 2 days and I got another smite hit. I was wondering if I was making some upset with my comments. Now, I think someone just doesn't like me.  ;D ;D
 5. Well, ole Whitten may have a say in it. But, you are right it comes down to the Head Coach on which player to start. IMO, Prewitt deserves the start with his play but some coaches don't give away a starter's job due to injury. It would be a mistake not to start Prewitt. He has more upside to him as a freshman than Bevil does as a red-shirt junior and 7 /2 games under his belt. He was knocked out of the SFA game and didn't play today. So, he has only played in 7 1/2 games but I've seen enough interceptions and fumbles by him to last me a lifetime.  ;)
 6. Thanks, it's all luck predicting scores.  :D That said, I've got 6 smite hits this month!
 7.
From what I saw the teams looked about equal.
I agree with you regarding this game. A couple of plays here and there and Lamar wins this game. Can't keep losing the special teams battle and have a below average running game which has yet to score and win these close games.
 8. Prewitt played a nice game for his first start in college, on the road, in a professional stadium like the Georgia Dome. I only remember two plays that were bad decisions IMO with one being the interception he threw. I think as a fresham his play deserves another start next week versus South Dakota. I think he really matured as the game went along. Defense played good enough to win but the special teams are killing us. A blocked punt, missed FG within 40 yards and a pooch kick that was miss handled by a Lamar player and should have been a turnover. We got a lucky break there. Offensively, we have played 9 games and we've yet to make a rushing TD. We had 84 yards rushing on 29 attempts and averaged less than 3.0 yards per carry. Then we fumbled at least three times but were lucky enough to recovery them. Especially, the Logan fumble inside our own 20 yard line.
 9.
Georgia State will be looking ahead to Alabama. I still think Lamar comes up short. Something like GSU winning 21-17.
Raiders99LHS80, can I get some karma from you since I pretty much nailed the score?  ;D Wasn't the final score 23-17?
 10. I thought there was a local coach on here staying Lamar wouldn't hoist any playoff games.  :D Best of luck to the Silsbee Tigers!
 11. I'm in my forties and these problems have been happening for over thirty years. Look back to the 60's. Heck, I have a friend who is a single mom and her 13 yrs old daughter is in a drug rehab in San Antonio. I know it takes parents but the dad is in Florida and doesn't pay child support nor has he seen the child in two or three years. I know the mom is doing her best but she is just making enough to pay the bills and put food on the table. This is a social problem and the kids need to take the blame for their mistakes. Like the staying goes "it takes a village to raise a child". It isn't always the parent's fault. BTW, I have the okay to mention this as I wouldn't talk about someones personal problems without permission. No way, will I put out names or where these people live or how I know them.

Lamar hoops ranks last amongst all sports at Lamar with women at the bottom, preceded by the men. [Hidden Content]
I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but if the 2000 - 2003 are dates, both of your link information is a bit dated. I would like to see more current data.
They don't have more current data because you have to have the four to five years for athletes to graduate. Then a year or two to gather all the data.
 15. You want a guy who is turnover prone throwing the ball with a bruised passing hand? It doesn't say how bad the bruise is.
 16. You gotta be careful with those staph infections!

 19. Can't tell you who is going to start as they are all pretty even at each position. But, they are going to be fun to watch and the rotation will be at least 10-12 deep. So, I see us playing a very fast up-tempo game and playing a lot of players. Heck, the best player on the team hasn't even scrimmaged yet. I watched Mike James during halftime do a little 3 point shooting and he hit like 9 out of 10. Then he hit about 17 out of 20 and that was shooting with brace on his left wrist. Once healthy, I don't see them being able to keep him on the bench. Tremell really looked good last night. Heck, Coy Custer dunked the ball! Then he hit a 3 pointer. He has really improved IMO.
 20. I've heard of them as I believe they are in the Northeast.
 21. First year was a joke and shouldn't even count because the Head Coach quit before the season was over. What a loser!  ::) Hardman as a coach is the real deal and we will continue to improve at a team.
 22. Nope, it is as you posted in an earlier post. I'm sure the same holds true at SHSU.

If it wasn't for Plumley I'd say she could win POY honors.
I very much agree!!! If Kalis sticks around she can become the greatest Lady Card of all time. Imho :)
That is very high praise coming from you for sure. I have a feeling that she won't play all four years though. Probably three years then head to Europe. She will be done with her undergrad after three years on the court since she was here for a year before she could play. Hopefully she'll decide to start working on a masters and stay for a fourth year on the hardwood. I agree that she could well be the greatest Lady Cardinal of all time statistically if she plays a full four. She'll likely be pretty well cemented into the top of the books in just three years as well. And she is a great young woman!
I know this will sound crazy, but if she plays 4 years at Lamar I could see WNBA written all over her. She is tall (6'1) has a long wingspan is cat quick and very athletic. I can see her playing the point next season but the coaches will probably want her to play off the ball for her scoring ability.
