If Taylor Trahan wouldn't have screwed around he may have made it.  Coaches gave him 3 different chances.  There is more to that story than everyone is presenting!
Please enlighten the rest of us since you know so much.  Also how do you know he was given 3 chances, are you a coach?  I can't see Trahan screwing off when it comes to kicking.
He isn't a coach. His brother is one but not at Lamar. As a former Lamar athlete, he has several sources and knows more than most about the Cardinals athletic department. That said, I'm not stating he is correct because I don't know. However, I do know Trahan was given a tryout as a walk-on. Can't we all get along.  :D :D :D
 2. If you are referring to me, I'm from LC-M.  ;D
 3. I thought he was playing TE at Baylor. Guess I was wrong. You're correct people on drugs do stupid things that make you go "WOW, how dumb was that."
 4.
If he comes back to Lamar.....Do you think it help Lamar on recruiting?
Heck yes it would help recruiting. He would be transferring from a FBS conference school and is a top dual threat QB meaning he can run and pass. That will make the OL look a lot better. Anyone think Lamar (Coach Woodard and co) will give Willie Jefferson (dismissed from Baylor last week) if he were to request a transfer here an opportunity. I know it would be a high risk with him but after talking to a co-worker who lost a scholarship offer to Oklahoma State due to getting busted with cocaine in high school and I know it is personal stuff here but I had to go to drug rehab twice. I think he could change if he wanted to but it would not be easy and he should be on a one strike and you are out situation. If my co-worker didn't confide his pass to me I would have never guess he had a problem because he is highly thought of at the place of my employment. I didn't share with him my past because I was at work and I didn't want the conversation to go into which person had the best stories to tell.
 5.

I am seeing a lot of posters say that the kicker is not holding up his end of the deal.... I could not agree with you more.  It's ashame that they let Taylor Trahan slip through their fingers.  We definitely would not have to worry about missed field goal attempts!
Some TSU-SM posters were blaming the kicker for their quadruple overtime loss to Nicholls on Saturday, and it reminded me of something my high school coach used to tell me. If the offense had played better, we wouldn't have needed the kicker to begin with. Before you start blaming kickers for not making chip shots, just think about if the offense had done a little better and gotten him closer. He used to tell us that if the defense had picked up some fumbles or ran back some interceptions, we wouldn't have lost either. We lost a lot. =( That's my opinion on it, but that's because I saw my offense in high school get chewed out a lot, and we were all pretty down after losses. It's easy to blame the kicker.
Oh come on, if not for the kicker we would be undefeated!   :D
If not for the kicker, you would have been shut out against SFA. I feel bad for kickers. They get all the grief if they miss one and the team loses, but the QB gets all the credit for driving them down the field in the final minutes so that the kicker can kick it.
Your coach wouldn't have been Coach Larry Haynes at Lumberton?
 6. Guy's it isn't uncommon for the QB to come to the sidelines and sit by himself. I haven't been to all the home games due to work commitments but unless he is arguing with teammates I don't see it as a big deal. You guys would not believe the actions of a former LU basketball player named James Davis off the court. I hated to watch him on the bench. Glad he was only here one season! However, back to Bevil, it would be best for him to be talking with his OC between possessions and maybe get on the same page.  ::)
 7. Depends on how we finish the season and how good we recruit (hope to God Hall gets eligible) and maybe land Jeremy Johnson. The tailgating is great and Lamar guys are doing it better than I thought they would (since we didn't have a football team for two decades). I think they had to buy their spots for 2-3 years so those guys will continue to "party" before the games and I think the students will continue to attend. After talking to my niece, her boyfriend and my nephew they are having a blast at the games. Of course, they like it better when we win.
 8. Guys, this is our first year to compete on the football field. The athletic complex (for strength and conditioning wasn't finished until after the season started) so I believe they will improve by getting bigger, stronger and faster. Plus, it is proven the better conditioned athlete has fewer injuries. It is too early to dog the coaching staff. It is the players who make the players or don't. I don't think Coach Woodard fumbled the ball 5 times on Saturday. You guys keep on talking about a running game. Well, you first have to hold on to the ball. Then it would be nice to gain a few yards if somehow you can keep the ball protected. Man, if you can't run what is the only other option? Pass the football but our QB is not taking care of the ball either. IMO, he is still hands down the best option so I hope Coach Woodard takes these two weeks to get another QB ready for North Dakota so I can say I told you so (about Bevil). There isn't a better QB on the team this year. Then how can you dog the defense when they are on the field the whole game. USA was averaging over 50 PPG and the defense held them to ONE TD, the rest of the scoring was FG's and a defensive TD. Now, the punter did a good job since he was used EIGHT times Saturday but I am not sold on the kicker. The coaching staff states he is injured but I think they may need to use one scholarship to find someone else who can back him up if he is injured or beat him out for the starting position. That is all I'm saying at this point and I'm not going to argue the point. Again people we are a first year program and I'll be happy with 5 or 6 wins this season. You guys dog the coaches all you want. That isn't my style.
 9. Was it SHSU homecoming game Saturday? Just looked at their athletic page and it was homecoming!
 10. You're right about that. Our running game is terrible. I hope Hall can get eligible and we can land a couple OL and the others get bigger and stronger with our strength and conditioning program. Coach Scott Reeves is suppost to be pretty good and they finally got him some help with Coach Joshua Miller.
 11. Hoop, you know I've been a Bevil supporter and was excited he decided to play at Lamar. That said he has to be close to 20 TO's with interceptions and fumbles through 7 games. It is hard to win at any level of football when the QB isn't taking care of the ball. That said, I still think Andre Bevil is the best option at QB this year at Lamar.
 12.
Hey why all the personal attacks.  Make your statement and have some facts to back it up. Lamar needs some help and maybe they will get it someday but stop the personal stuff.
Good luck with that one!
 13. It was a radio broadcast so I doubt all of us will hear it again. However, you have to listen to what he said and the context in which he stated it. That is the message I got and what I earlier posted here and other sites. Driving in my Ford, F-150 crew cab, that is the way I heard it.  :D :D
 14. Yes, I read it on katfans this morning and here is my reply. I heard the "where are they now" sigment last night with Billy Tubbs and Bo Brown as I was leaving work. It is funny how two different people can hear the same thing and get a different message. IMO, Billy Tubbs was not dogging the SLC. He did state in his opinion it was a bad decision to drop football and leave the Sun Belt conference. I did not hear him say one bad word about the SLC. He stated in his opinion it would have been easier to go FBS if we never left the Sun Belt and that is true. (See South Alabama) He also mentioned the old rivalries with La Tech, North Texas, SW Louisiana (now ULL) and Arkansas State. Then he stated he thought bringing back football and all the excitement around SE Texas will run over into fan attendance in other sports at Lamar. Asking a honest question here; would you think it would be a mistake to go back to DII for financial reasons it that were to happen at SHSU? (I know it will not happen at SHSU I'm just using a hypothetical.) I say yes it would be a huge mistake and it was a mistake for Lamar to leave the Sun Belt for those reasons. Just my opinion. Coach Tubbs mentioned he and a few other administrators including Dr. Simmons are looking at all situations and monitoring conference realignment at Lamar. We have to get better in our athletic department, fielding better teams including football. Plus, we have to raise money for a move to a FBS conference. I believe I've read on here that you guys are monitoring the situation with conference realignment too. No one knows what the SLC will be if you lose 2 Texas schools and a couple from Louisiana due to budget issues. For TexasTerror, he did resign as AD and is Special Assistant/Consultant to the President. He helped bring back football and has made several great hires as in Coach Tidwell now AD/WBB HC, the strenght and conditioning coach Scott Reeves, Brian White men's golf, Dewi Hardman women's soccer, Ron Wesbrooks director of tennis operations, Justin Gibert volleyball, Trey Clark men's and women's cross country, media relations and other athletic administrative positions. If Coach Roc has a breakthrough season like I heard Coach Tidwell state he believed was going to happen after watching them practice in the off season program you can add him to the list a good hires by Coach Tubbs. Billy Tubbs has served Lamar University for a total of 25 years. He was involved in the winning of eight conference championships as a coach, and since he returned to the school as athletics director in 2002, Lamar teams have accounted for 20 Southland Conference championships in eight different sports.
 15. No, the defense played well as they only gave up ONE offensive TD to USA. The rest were held to FG's and the first TD of the game was made by their defense. Still giving up too many rushing yards but heck they (defense) was on the field too long. Offense, you just can't have 4 TO's every week and be competitive.
 16. Sounds good BearKat25, sorry if saying he isn't a racist makes you think I am defending his statements because I'm not. He was wrong and I believe he would say as much if asked. Anyway, the BearKats may be the surprise team in the SLC this season. Good luck versus SFA as I don't like the Jacks at all.  ;)

Move on and support your school and I'm sure LUCardinal learned not to assume a persons race while on the internet. You didn't "made sure he got his a** whooped Texas style". LUCardinal is very smart but just didn't know he was talking to a black guy. At 43, I've put my foot in my mouth a few times and if you are honest you probably have too. Since this is your first post here on this forum I hope you will bring more to the table than this topic.

Im sorry, did I start this thread? No, I'm just responding to a thread in which I was involved in. Mind your own business and I'll do the same.
No need to get defensive, I was just telling you and everyone else LUCardinal is not a racist person he just didn't know who he was talking to. Congratulations on the BearKat victory over SE La today. We can discuss that if you would like.

 19. Score 57-7 in Huntsville.  :o
 20. They must have deleted the post on katfans because I can't find anything racist from a Lamar poster.
 21. Yep, the TCU connection with Coach Tidwell and Coach Hardman has worked out great for Lamar. I know some love him and a lot hate him but former TCU basketball coach and Lamar AD Billy Tubbs made a couple of great hires with these two.

 23. puddin tane, I was just going by what I read. Obviously, I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.  ;D
 24.
Only problem with your argument is that Lamar is not a Division II football program.
Ruckdad you beat me to it. Lamar is DI in all their sports and compete in the FCS of DI football.
 25. Sleepy, there is no doubt that RG is a stud but at the QB position it is best to stay all four years. Compare the guys that left school for the NFL early and the one who played as a senior in college. There is a better percentage of QB's starring who played as a senior. If you are talking about Art Biles, look at Kevin Kolb with the Eagles out of UH. He played for a great team in Stephenville, Texas in high school so he was ahead of the game (knowledge of Art Biles system) since Art Biles was his HS coach and when he went to Houston and starred as a freshman.
