1. I have forgot his name and he has done a wonderful job with that program. Plus, if you know what year he went to Lumberton.
 2.
I don't think tubbs will be making any more major decisions at Lamar.
Thank God he was our AD when Lamar decided to bring back the program as he was a major fundraiser with all the contacts he has with the people with deep pockets who are Lamar alumni or friends of the university. He may not make anymore "major decisions" but his opinion with be asked for regarding "major decisions" within the world of college athletics.

There is a difference between advertising and promotions and public relations of a program.
Whatever, it doesn't seem to be too big a deal as GSU only had 12,000 after 30,000 for the first game. I believe the SID and AD for Development at Lamar did a nice job with promotions and public relations.
 4.

All the other recent start-ups seem to be playing mostly home games against non-D1 teams their first year. and Georgia State lost to one of them.  Lambuth is an NAIA school making the transition to D2.  Bill Curry (he's 57-96 without the 3 years at Alabama) can really coach but at least I don't have to his constantly negative color commentary.
Attendance dropped from 30K for their first game to just 12K for this game.  I read that their season ticket sales aren't that great, they had a lot of students and walkups for their first game.
How did this happen with attendance for Georgia State? 5. Yea, the defense better show up for SE Louisiana as they have this UT transfer and the QB is a transfer from Baylor.
 6. Honestly, after this game vs Webber what part of the team doesn't have you worried?
 7.
Hello everyone! Can't wait for the game this weekend between Southeastern and Lamar.  Nice to have you guys back on the football scene.  If you want to chat with some Lion fans before the game, you can head to our board at this site: [Hidden Content] As for the stadium, game-day atmosphere, and team, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by all.  The stadium certainly isn't the largest in the SLC but I think it's a cozy atmosphere and there isn't a bad seat in the house.  The pre-game atmosphere is still a work in progress but the tailgating scene is picking up and we're hoping it will continue to pick up with a few winning seasons under our belt.  As for the team, most of our fans think this is the best team we've fielded since returning football to Hammond.  Lots of high expectations for this season. Again, welcome back to the Southland football scene and hope to see at least two thousand of you guys at the Berry this weekend :)
Thanks for visiting the site hope for a competitive game with you guys. I've got to work Saturday so I can't make the trip but I do hope a couple thousand of the Cardinal faithful do.
alot of colleges kick off at 6 ???  guess so you get home before midnight.  Its SE Texas...suck it up.
YEAH!!
At 7:30 or 8:00 on Saturday night I hate to admit this but you would be going up against ESPN and one of their top games of the weekend. It is usually hotter in College Station than Beaumont. So, I guess I agree with puddin tane's comments.  Pre ESPN I would say yea let's move back the starting time. Our next home game will be in Oct. so the temp will be cooler.
 9. Thanks for post the link coachacola. Those are some great pic's.
 10. Yea, SE Louisiana will be a difficult team for Lamar. I think they were picked 3rd in the preseason SLC polls. Just hope we play better versus the Lions than we did against Webber.
 11. Don't think there will be a change in the start times for the home games this year. Glad we won but a little dissappointed in the way we played. 1. The TO's have got to stop I don't care how good the player (Bevil) is you just can't give the ball away. 2. Webber had too many rushing yards in between the tackles. 3. I think we are somewhere between how good we played versus McNeese and last night. I think there is a lot of room for improvement on both sides of the ball. The special teams played well last night with a blocked punt and one returned over 80 yards with a questionable call by an official. Great crowd and atmosphere for the game. Mark Henry a former USA Olympian weight lift and professional wrestler leading the team on the field and Celtic star Kendrick Perkins on the sidelines, the flyovers, fireworks and all were awesome. Agree someone needs to tell the PA announcer we need the noise on defense not offense.  ;) Did anyone see the score with South Dakota and Minnesota? SD won 41-38. Those guys come to Beaumont later this year.  :o Sorry didn't see the other thread about SD beating Minnesota.
 12. Nice post North and agree with your comments, coachacola's, and to an extent UNLV's comments.
 13. No, Coach Woodard seems like a good man. I've only met him one time. But we are playing a team with 18 scholarship players and 700 students so the score could get out of hand pretty quickly. That is all I'm saying. I hope he plays everyone and the reserve players get some PT. Sorry if my post was offensive. That was not my intention. Peace.
 14. So you like to talk or type just to hear yourself or read what you stated and that is "jawing". I mean as of now I'm the only one (Lamar alumni/student/fan) to reply to your resent post and honestly if you don't have the confidence in your team and just make statements off the top of your head I'm not interested. Until the week of our game vs SHSU I will not reply to one of your post that are meant to "just get under my skin". Good luck in your games versus Western Illinois and Gardener-Webb.

That is one game I'm going to love watching the scoreboard light up for the Cardinals. Please don't have any excuses after we beat the heck out of the team from Prisonville. Honestly what is the first thing you think of about Huntsville? Is it SHSU or the prisons? I say the later of the two.  ;D
I'll leave the excuses department to TT he is much better at it than I am...I doubt we need any though, the Bearkat victory will be as sweet as the Cardinal cookie from Rao's I ate yesterday on the way home...Eat Em Up!!!
At this point heck NO...weve only played Baylor and with a new Coach, offense, and QB I cant say what should even be expected yet, now after Western Illinois and Gardener-Webb lets talk... I'll love to bet on that game. You interested in putting your mouth on something besides a cookie?   :D

Why wait, as we've got a whole new team, new offense, new defense, new coaching staff and just played McNeese. But, I'm patient and willing to wait.  ;D
Its ok BigRed...so Lamar padded to schedule some to insure a home victory the first game...it was to be expected we dont want the masses getting discouraged or anything...lets just hope they dont suprise you guys
I'll be surprised if they score 10 points and the offense will light them up early and often. I just hope Coach Woodard doesn't try to embarrass Webber just to inflate our numbers.

You're right, they could have scored 150; they have an incredible offense and a Heisman candidate QB. What did you expect?
That comment came from a UH alumnus (HoopInsider). I don't think we are trash talking about any program.
 21.
Here is a better way for people to understand it. My former golf coach at Lamar is now the golf coach at the University of Arkansas.  A month ago he invited me to play in the athletic department and schools biggest supporters (Johny Tyson of Tyson Foods) golf tournament.  The reason I give you the name is because I got the grand tour from him of all of the facilities at the University because he is very proud of them obviously.  As he should be because they are amazing.  The thing about it is they are not any better than ours.  They are a bit bigger in scale and they do have an indoor practice facility but beyond that ours our every bit as good.  I thought that may give you guys a better idea of just how good ours are.
Thanks for sharing your experience of observing the facilities first hand. YOU ARE REALLY GETTING ME FIRED UP!

LOL
The way I understand it the only way they couldnt keep scoring would be to take a knee...they put in the botom of the depth chart and tried some of the coaches kids but the refs said a 12 year old could be on the field... ;D
That is pretty funny and all but in HS we beat a team 77-0 for our homecoming, scoring on the last play of the game. I was happy and all with homecoming, my date (quit thinking about the game after our coach pulled the starters). But, our 2nd team QB decided to audible at the line of scrimmage and called a pass play and one of my good friends scored on the last play of the game. (He is now a PA police officer). It felt weird shaking hands with the other teams players after the game and there were some heated words between the two coaching staffs. At the time in wasn't a big deal but the older I get I now understand how the kids on the other team must have felt.   We didn't have any freshman or 12 yr olds to put into the game.  ;D
 23. They are suppost to let us know by this afternoon. Wish standing on the concourse of the Montagne Center was an option.
 24.
For the last 20 years it seems as if almost everything that involved in athletics at Lamar has been done half-@##.  Just so you know I was a cardinal athlete from 1998-2003 so I can say this without a bunch of people getting mad.  I have been a Lamar supporter for almost all of my 30 years on this earth.  I started going to basketball games in the mid 80's and have been a die hard card ever since.  When I went to school there it made me love the school even more.   The reason I am posting all of this is because I had the chance to take a tour of the new facilities at Provost-Umphrey stadium and I was in complete shock.  I must admit that a few years ago when football was announced it never seemed like it would happen.  To good to be true type of thing for me.  Even when I bought my season tickets and my parking spaces for tailgating it still didn't seem as if it were real.  When I walked through the facilities yesterday and I had chills the entire time.  Coach was walking us around and showing every room and the attention to detail that they put in to this place is AMAZING!!!!  This facility literally blows anything else in the conference out of the water and is much like many of the major D1 facilities around the country on a slightly smaller scale.  I saw for the first time what I felt could EVENTUALLY turn in to a Division 1-AA power and I have never been so excited in my life.  I am as proud to be a cardinal as I have ever been in my life and cannot wait for the next few years of football.  This is indeed an exciting time in Lamar history!!!
Great post sleepy. From the pictures I've seen of the facilites they're first class.
