  1. Listened to this game.If Gilmer had a better defense they would be hard to beat.Carthage had big leads and Gilmer scored two TD in less than a minute. They did this twice in the game. You have to score a lot of points if you are going to beat Gilmer. This game was not in doubt until about 4 minutes left.I look for them to make it to the big dance. The final was 55-37.

That's the truth... on two separate drives we picked up decent first down yardage, then ran a pitch outside with the edge set and what appeared to be daylight in the secondary, only to drop the pitch and have to fall on the ball with close to ten yards lost.... 1st and 10, 2nd and 6, 3rd and 15.... we just couldn't convert third and long on that defense... there aren't many third and long plays in our playbook.

The Center/QB exchange has been a problem since the season began.  I think we were down to maybe three fumbles on that exchange this week.  It's hard to play 4 yards and a cloud of dust when you lose a down to fumbling, if not losing possession.  I don't know how it's fixed, but it needs to be.  We're shooting ourselves in the foot.

I think the team will bounce back this week and match up well with Newton.  Two consecutive byes, then we open district play with Cleveland and LCM.  They would seem to be our most favorable district matchups, but the last part of our schedule is a grinder.  HH will be good, and it looks like Silsbee is starting to find their identity.

It all comes down to how the team overcomes the distraction that they created for themselves last week, and if we are able to replace the missing part of our secondary.  It will be interesting to see.

What about Sota?I know they are 0-3 but a poster on another board said they want lose a district game. That's a bold statement for a 0-3 team.

Gilmer moved in front of WLV up to #3. I will be stunned if we are still there after Saturday night. Not that I won't be pulling for my Buckeyes.......I just believe Carthage my pound on us a little bit.

Yall moved ahead even though WLV got one first place vote.Like WO-S moved ahead of Argyle last week with less first place votes. We made it right this week though with 16 first place votes.Yall gonna make it right next week when you take down the Dwgs.Ya know we got a score to settle with the Buckeyes.lol

After they get their 4th straight this week, what are their chances of giving up no points at all till the playoffs start? I know they have Kennedale and Silsbee, but if they shut both of those teams down they have a chance. I don't see anyone scoring on them in district play this year. Heck they only gave up 3 points in district last year, and this years D is better. Has any team in Texas high school football ever went unscored upon in the regular season? I know Daingerfield back in the day had some great defenses, but not sure how many shut outs they actually had that year.

Only one team scored on Daingerfield and that was by way of a fumble late making them give up 8 points( I think ) in 1983.Needless to say they won state that year.So they had 14 shut outs if it was 15 games.Quite remarkable to say the lease.

Wo-s will have a few more shut outs this year but they will give up some points. All I care about is getting back to Jerry World.

The 2000 Chain Gang was one of the best! If it had not been for the cheap shot by LaMarque, that put Pinkins out for the season, the whole complexion of the WOS-Ennis game would have changed, in my opinion.

I think that was our first time against a spread team. They ran all over us in the first half before coach T did what he does best, adjusting at half time.Shut them down the second half but the damage was done in the first half that we just couldn't overcome. The spread offense was relatively new at that time.

This kind of reminds me of the buildup surrounding the WO-S/H-J game in 2014. Hawks were 8-0 going into the game I believe.

Yeah and they were putting up some numbers.According to most of HJ one questionable call did them in because they were fixing to turn it around.lol

Just to show you how important I thought it was I can't recall that much about it other than it had to do with a punt.

Jasper should have quit playing WOS after their first meeting in 86.  Quit while you are ahead!

Yep beat us 21-8.Played again in the regional final that year and we won 21-15.The next year was a slobberknocker with WO-S kicking a late field goal winning 3-0.1990 another hard fought win for WO-S 7-6.Been some good ones.

I hate that the game thread is closed and I have to make one to respond to the picture of our side of the stands. I stayed for the entire game and WOS stands were pretty empty as well. I feel pretty sure most of our fans knew how this game would go, but when quite a few of them have kids in band,  Westernaires, Twirlers, Flags etc and they leave because of rain so do their parents.

Well at least Ned has a working score board.Got a ton of money from the state game in Dallas, not so much from the Houston game and still will not fix it.
