1. will coach in leu of what has happend this past week? Will we see coaches, not just WO-S,resume their style of coaching or will they retreat to a Wade Phillips type of coaching. If I was a coach I know I couldn't get in any of the kids face knowing what just took place.I guess after a period of time it will work itself out.I sure wouldn't want to be a coach right now.
 2.
I'll ask the same question I do every time this question comes up. What do you define as "best"? The team that would be all others in theoritical head to head play? The team with the best/most dominant season from a stats POV? The team that had the most eventual D1/NFL players? Are you talking about a single season or multiple? Only in the state of Texas or Nationally? Depending which definition you use, the answer will vary wildly even from the most objective poster.  The conversation is much more interesting, in my opinion, if you tighten up the parameters of the discussion.
Hotrodg we ain't got no time to to search for all those things. How about you do it for us and get back to us when your through. ;D My simple answer...83 Dangerfield
 3. At the game last Friday against WO-S ( the first half ) I have never seen a Jasper team that was so ineffective. Not saying they weren't trying or playing hard, they just couldn't do anything.First time in a long time Jasper has not tested WO-S.Guess I'll go with Silsbee on this one.
 4. All you smack talking fans are showing your true colors.Sorry.Just my attempt at a little humor.
 5.
Regarding Wimberley being ranked 4th (in 3A of course)...I am proud and honored. But...in all honesty....I say its unearned at this point. We beat Cuero at home (normally a HUGE deal) but it has been tarnished a bit with Cuero's loss the next week (at home!) to Liberty Hill. The other three we played are weak as compared to the rest of the Top 10 (or so it would appear), which leads me to say this: If we beat Sealy this Friday night, we deserve this ranking. If we lose, we might deserve a Top 10. but not a Top 5. it's that simple.
Good point Wimbo. This game will tell a lot.Our game with Kirbyville kind of the same thing, before our loss.Anyway wish I could go to see the Texans and Tigres.Going to be a great game.Good luck.
 6.
I would have loved to have seen one unified gesture of rememberance but so many people want to express their respects in so many different ways. I cant help but to wonder what kind of comfort it is to his family to see all of the out pouring of love, respect and admiration that all of the surrounding communities are showing. You have a great idea along with so many others.
You are so correct Kville. The surrounding communities have been nothing short of amazing.

It would be a disservice to our kids if Kville didn't give it their all. I know they will and that will be a great way of respecting our program and Reggie and his teammates.
I expect that when kickoff for this game finally comes, the WO-S football team will be focused on the GAME and not everything else.  I'm not saying that Reggie won't cross their minds, but the coaches will have the players locked in, fired up, and ready to hit someone.  And that's the way it should be. There is a time to grieve, but it's so necessary for the coaches and players for WO-S to get back to a normal routine, as hard as that may be (You're right about that, kicker).  This will help in their long-term emotional well-being.  Also, it's important to point out that if the players are not focused on the game, that creates a risk of injury on the field.  I expect that Kirbyville's team will be very respectful toward our players, but I also believe they should (and will) come into this to win it.  WO-S does not want to win this game on sympathy, but with a hard fought game on the field.  The posts I've read from Kirbyville posters have been classy.  We very much appreciate the kind thoughts toward our school and community.  But when the game played, let the best team win.  Both teams want it that way, and so would Reggie.  May God's peace rest on everyone who has been touched by this tragedy.
Good post Griff. You beat me to it. No doubt it will start out very emotional for both teams.I don't think it will take long for each to look at each other and say...game on.As it should be and as Reggie would want it to be.After all it is # 6 vs #9 at this point.
 8. Wow.Talk about show your love.Amazing

The way Kirbyville and the rest of the towns have responded I really have no desire in beating them. Our surrounding towns are nothing short of classy.
i agree but as a Kirbyville fan how could you go into it wanting to win it either?  Do we have to keep score, cant they just turn the scoreboard off and let them play for the love of the game and Reggie and forget about winning and losing!  I know they cant but that would be awesome!!
I thought about that to...who would want to be the first team to play wo-s.A lot of mixed emotions for this first game back. This will be the toughest for both teams emotionally.
 10. Yeah I understand.Didn't mean right away but in the future.I know everyones plate is pretty full.
 11. Hey Gas...Any talk about retiring Reggie's number or is this just a gimme.
 12. Yes it will be a very tough night. The wins and losses will not be important this season...at least for me. The way Kirbyville and the rest of the towns have responded I really have no desire in beating them. Our surrounding towns are nothing short of classy.

 14. I have been trying to deal with this tragady all weekend, without much luck.Came to work this morning and was not going to get on the board...didn't want to deal with it so to speak.Glad I did. Some of the stories and post have helped. I can't begin to know the pain the family is going through, the teammates and coaches.Prayers and may God be with you at this time.
 15. Grad. Please don't start making a poll on which chapter is going to do certain games.I know it is tempting. ;D
 16.
I can tell you that the kicking game being overlooked and not practiced enough is a problem in almost every school. How many schools out there would love to have a kid who can hit 40-45 yard FG's and punt between 50-60 yards and kickoff between 50-60 yards, but only practice about 5 FG's in practice, 5 punts in practice and a couple of kickoffs?
I agree but 50 to 60 yard punts are a little much for high school.I think most are in the mid 40s for a good punt.JMO.
 17.
Message to those sitting in the stands.  While the absolute pressure is put on the kicker---- we must also remember it takes a good snap and a good hold to give the kicker the opportunity to do his thing.   HS teams really need to work and practice on this aspect of the game.  Practicing kicking is often done on the side and really needs to practiced in a real time environment.  My nephew was a deep snapper at Baytown Lee when they were playing pretty well.  He said in the middle of practice scrimmage when nobody would expect it the coaches would blow the whistle and holler ----field goal team --and they had 30 seconds to assemble and get it through the uprights.  I thought this was a great idea.  It can make the difference in the outcome of a game.
This is so true.A lot of other things have to happen right, even before the kick is attempted.
 18.
Any WOS fans remember the name "Raul Ponce" ? The kid who knocked you guys out of playoffs in '05 from Huffman.  ;) One heck of a kicker. How long was the FG that won the game? That was a GOOD game, though.  ;D
You would think that someone to bring up history, they would get the facts right ;D.It was '04.Your right it was a good game and just shows the importance of a good kicker.
 19. I know the kicker is being worked with.If Dan thinks he is not ready I don't see him throwing him out there.I beleive that is why he went for two when we played FW.
 20. Wow.Gilmer and Giddings not in the top 20.How long has that been.Hope Kville and WO-S don't stumble before they meet.Makes it more gooder huh. ;D
 21. Skipper uderstands it completely. ;D
 22. Yall leave old Skip along. He knows exactly what he means and it's your responsebility to interpet it. ;D
 23.
ok now back to Jasper, cause this is a Jasper WOS topic!  I think Jasper comes out fired up.  They want this one and have something to prove.  I dont think itll be enough because WOS has too much talent but Im pulling for the DAWGS!!
I agree ryker. No matter what kind of team Jasper fields they always get up for this one and they will play hard but I think they will fall short. This Mustang team is a lot better than last year and Jasper is down.Glad we get them early because they will get better the more they play.
 24. Gilmer will make some noise before it's over. They are well coached.
