Newton not the team it has been in the past.They will come to play no doubt about that but WO-S will have their way.

Not going to look at this game through rose colored glasses.Going to be a tough test for WO-S but the kids welcome this type of challenge.

 

Also the speakers on the visitor side doesn't work, and the scoreboard only shows the score and time.    timeouts stuck on 3 each, downs stuck on 1st and 10.

Yeah it was like that last year.I thought they would have it fixed this year but guess not.Let's face it...why spend the money on such a loosing program.

You have a very good team PNG.After the first half I didn't know if we were going to be able to stop you.All I knew was what it was going to take to do that and that seemed questionable.Coach T had the answer and the kids did their part.I think all the false starts and us being able to get to Morse did you in.I swear I have never seen a crew of refs that seem to have no clue.They must have been using that common core math.lol.I had said this game was a toss up imo and it did not disappoint.

Nope. I know for a fact LCM beat WO-S at LCM.I was there. The Bears shut us out 27-0 IN '83.By the way that was our only losing season,we went 7-3 that year.The other LCM win was '94,don't remember where though but another butt wuppin 37-6.We went 8-2-1 that year,

Pigskin Prep has WO-S by 10.Padilla has PNG by 10.That's pretty much the way I see it to.

If a coach kicks a player off the team for the entire season for good cause then other coaches should respect that and not allow him to play if he transferd.That's the way I feel about that.

 

You can't lose two players with the talent and leadership Cole and Chase brought to the team and think it want hurt.I think it's going to be tough for awhile and they will still make the playoffs though. But like apollo 13 they just lost the moon imo.Hope I'm proven wrong by some fine young kids.

That # 2 ranking is because D2 does not have that many good teams and as for as I'm concerned it means nothing until they prove it.If we were D1 we wouldn't even break the top ten.I don't see anything special about this years team.It's your average WO-S team and really has only one team that might stop their run for state unless someother team comes on strong.

First game of the season and both teams will show it.Rain could be a factor in a low scoring game.Last time we played in the rain against LCM, WO-S won 7-0 I think and that score came towards the end of the game.I'll go with WO-S for the win on special teams and the big play.

He saw a scrimmage and you know that tells without a doubt how good a team you have.If I rated WO-S season on their two scrimmages I would have to say they are going to have problems winning games.Think I will wait until preseason is over before making any rash statements.

We did cut down on the flags.looked at a lot of people.Good scrimmage for both teams.Now lets play ball!!!

The only team that gave us problems in the past in this district is Silsbee and they are D1 now.As Buddy said...The only roadblock is WO-S themselves.

Coaches look at a scrimmage a lot different than most of us fans.We go to see how good we look and are dissapointed most of the time.Coaches are looking at players and seeing if they have them in the right spots and so on as Thompson states.Like he said it's a practice.

 

I agree, Gun. We did have some success running between the tackles, but notice when we get near the goal line, and Ned didn't have to respect the pass as much, that success greatly diminished. We have a stable of outstanding receivers that teams must respect. That is going to open some things up for us (like running between the tackles). But thinking we are going to be a "power" football team now is crazy. It's great to see we have a running game, but it was also great seeing us with the big play ability to go down the field and score in 35 seconds in the 4th when we were down. We get the turn overs and penalties cleaned up and we will be deadly on both sides of the ball.

The turn overs and flags,those are drive killers.I really thought Ned looked better than us overall.Was shocked that we didn't go to the power I on the goal line.That's what it's all about right now...see what works and what doesn't.

 

he did not go under center  just a hand off the the big power back   ran right up the gut  stop me if you can ,if you had  looked  close  6 -7 yards per carry not to  bad with no led blocker ahead of him

I must have been at a diffreent ball game.I saw a couple of good runs but not what your talking about.Wasn't impressed at all on both sides of the ball...very sloppy game for wo-s.Lots of flags.They have some work to do but will get better.

 

When they originally built that stadium, the home side was on the west side. Then they made the east side bigger and moved the home side to the east side. They finally made the original home side bigger and added a press box and now the home side is back on the west side where it originally was to start.

They almost did anyway.Seven out of 10 are D1 and the first 5 are D1.I'm with you.They crown two state champs from each classification so they should have polls to reflect the same.

I know it sounds crazy but with the amount of talent they have, the loss of Cole wont really be an issue. The way they have been the last few years, lose one and two more that are just as good or better are waiting.

 

Cole is still young.Like I said the worst thing about loosing Cole is we would have had him for two more years.Loosing him now is not as bad as loosing him with another year under his belt.Don't get me wrong I still wish he would have stayed but Chase is well tested.

District 11 and 12 out of region 3...

 

La Grange - 7 returning starters, last year (13-1 state semifinalists)

Giddings - 7 returning starters, last year (3-6)

Smithville - 14 returning starters, last year (1-9)

Caldwell - 15 returning starters, last year (1-9)

Salado - 13 returning starters, last year (1-9)

 

Wharton - 15 returning starters, last year (9-3 area finalists)

Bellville - 6 returning starters (none on offense), last year (8-3 bi district finalists)

Sweeny - 13 returning starters, last year (8-4 area finalists)

Columbus - 12 returning starters, last year (6-4 bi district finalists)

Brookshire Royal - 11 returning starters, last year (1-9)

 

Thanks Bobcat.District 11 with LaGrange only returning 7 seem to be weak.District 12 might be a little better with Wharton,Sweeny and Columbus returning a few more from playoff teams but it don't look like anything special is coming out of these two districts.WO-S has a real shot of getting out the region if they don't #$%* up.

I concur and also, there is always a team every year that comes from nowhere and demolishes people.

 

Maybe not every year but it happens often enough.The two teams that come to mind that it happened to were Gilmer and Brownwood.They were thought to be unstopable.

Region 3 looks weak with LM being the only standout but I don't know what Giddings,La Grange and Columbus have coming back.I do know D1 region 3 is loaded and that will be a dog fight for sure.

Cole will be deeply missed! Hate to see him and his family go. I believe the Mustangs will have a rough time in the playoffs without Cole.

 

The Mustang will make their deep run without Cole as usual.Chase is a three year starter and is very capable of leading this team.Like I said,Cole will be missed but it aint going to break the bank.What hurts the Stangs is not having Cole when Chase graduates.The Stangs will be fine.
