GUNHO replied to the sports guy's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
What was the score last year? Why do you fell the tigers will dominate this year?Did Davis lose a lot in graduation or what? -
How can you have a 15 game losing streak if you went 1-9?Guess he means district losing streak. And no contact at practice...What the...

Don't know what all the fuss is about. When you have a good football team you get the hype.PNG,Nederland,Central,Ozen,WB and others when they have good teams they are talked about a lot also.WO-S fields a compeitive team year after year due to hard work and coaching. They have erned it. -
should instant re-play be used in HS Football?
GUNHO replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Also each stadium would need to have a jumbotron so the fans could see the replays. ;D -
I'm with you aggie.Went to Texas Stadium for the first when WO-S played Ennis. Was not impressed at all...was a little disapointed to tell you the truth.I felt like it was closing in on me...really felt small. Now the dome had all the room you wanted. What a wonderfull place to play football.

I agree with both of you.The thing is when wo-s dropped to 3A everyone was expecting a state crown pretty quick. We were to dominate 3A easly and we have in our district and bi-district,but in the state as a whole there are some pretty salty teams on the same level as wo-s.

Battlin' Bears bringing back the gold helmets
GUNHO replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I doubt very seriously that they are "worried" about it. When you are setting off on a new program, sometimes it is good to change thinks up a bit to help the feeling of the new start. I think this is a fairly common occurrence and certainly not limited to LC-M. I don't think they are going to miss any two-a-days because of a new helmet logo. Isn't PN-G going to change their scheme up a bit? Maybe their new coach isn't worried about winning. 8) Good luck to LC-M, their new coach and their new helmet logo. Yeah. That bojo thing really helped. :-* -
Not really.Gary tries real hard not to be just a homer. He likes to do the games that have some meaning to them out of WO-S,BC,OFand LCM.Granted if your team is having a lousy year you might not get on the raido much.I remember when wo-s and lcm were in the playoffs and both had good teams...Gary ran himself crazy to do both teams with some of them being on the same day.Your right about him being this best though.

Yeah...Texas would have been better off had he not pitched in the CWS at all. -

That sums it up pretty well.Had Texas got the hits it needed when those bases were loaded the LSU sixth might have been and inning that just tied the game. For Texas to win the CWS they had to stop LSU from getting those big inings of 6 plus runs...28 of the 29 inings they did just that. -
Would you be for or against...
GUNHO replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I agree. -
Would you be for or against...
GUNHO replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I don't know.Seems like that would be defeating the purpose of having the two in the first place. But I would like to see it...what would you call it...High School Superbowl State Champions or just plain undisputed 3A.4A or 5A State Champions. -

I said in another thread I didn't think Texas could take two in a row but after last night I think it is possible. In two games Texas hasn't allowed LSU to have the big innings they have been getting in this CWS.Whoever wins tonight they deserve it...no question about that. -
CWS Championship Series Thread..............
GUNHO replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That was one great game.Texas just couldn't get that one out in the ninth.Thought after getting out of that jam in the tenth the horns were going to win it but started the eleventh out the same way. Can't give a team like LSU to many oppertunities are they will bury you.I hate to say it but I think that was Texas season last night.Don't think they can take two in a row from LSU. -
Want to try again. ;D

Dave Campbell Picks WO-S to win 3A DII State Title
GUNHO replied to WOS87's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ok...Why? -
They were called "The Zing Along Gang" because the offense was so overpowering. As I recall, the All District Offensive team was practically the Stark starting line-up, with the Tigers supplying 9 of the 11 positions. And I think they had 5 out of 11 on the Defense. In district play that year, 1962, the other five teams scored a total of 12 points against Stark. Of those five, only one team held the Tigers to less than 40 points. The "zing along" tag was inspired by the TV show "Sing Along With Mitch" which featured a choir of about 30 male voices that was called the Sing Along Gang. The show had a brief bit of popularity, but is now long since forgotten. Year after year, we at Stark didn't have a lot of athletic success to cheer about. The handful of bright moments meant a lot to us. And still do, even a lifetime later. Being a Stark grad the 62-63 team was the only bright spot that I can remember.I have often said if our qb had not broken his arm we would have been playing in the state game. Now I follow WO-S.The 87 team was great and would have to be considered the best to go 15-0 but I kind of like the 2000 squad for the heart that team had.Picked to finish fourth in district( the 87 team was picked to win it all ) and no real stars on that team they never quit beleiving in themselves and made it to the state game.
