Due to SH recent success we also have(although very brief) programming spots on two Houston Sports radio programs. I personally dont think either school is ready for FBS. Lamar from a competitive standpoint and SH from a facilities standpoint, so I can see why there is some resistance to eithe program.
Don't drag Lamar down with Sam. If Sam ain't ready, then too bad. Lamar needs to get back to where it was before bad leadership.Even if we were winning at the FCS level, joining FBS will have us losing for a few season anyways.Maybe if we move up, we can hire your coach....LOL.
Hiring our coach would be the best football decision your(or I guess I should say their since you arent really a cardinal) AD ever made. Lets face it Woodard is NOT the answer to take the Cards to the next level. Thats not "dragging" LU down thats a fact. -

I cant think of one poster that cares if Lamar stays or not especially football wise. I know there are some parents that would want them to stay so they can see their kids pad their stats everytime we play but thats about it. -
Lamar could go FBS next year. It would be a transition year. Lamar would not be a full member of the SBC for 2 years. I would rather MWC, but the SBC is better than the SLC. They are freaking out on Katfans site. LOL.
Ummm, if you call what I just read on KatFans "Freaking Out" you need a better grip on life. [Hidden Content] -
Wyomings Stadium 29,181, New Mexico Stadium 39,224, La Tech 30,600, thats where I got that number from but stadium capacity is not my decision the have never asked what I think about Lamar football
Beaumont metro is bigger than 2 of those 3. We have space and population for 40k. What do you think of ULL 50k stadium plans?
[IMG][Hidden Content]] ULL has got a good bandwagon going right now. Lamar could build a 40, 50,60k+ stadium and might fill it up once or twice a season depending on who was playing and how good the Cards are at the time. ULM filled their stadium for the first time EVER last friday and that was only because of the early success they have had this season not the opponent. They didnt even fill it when Alabama and others have previously come to town.

If Lamar moves up to FBS and insists on 6 home games they will not be able to fill their non conference schedule with the TX Tech's and Baylor's of the world and they will have to schedule FCS programs to go along with a conference home schedule of New Mexico, Colorado State and Utah State which I doubt will equal decent attendance especially during the transition years when they will not be very competitive.
I'm ok with D2 / NAIA home games (McMurray is transitioning to DII) for the first few years, but later I'd like to see us move to "Quality" over "Quantity" after the next year or so. Coach Knight's goal is no D2's in basketball. I'd like to see the same thing in football. Right now, our home schedule is not a lot different from the one that UTSA, another start-up, has this year (except for the WAC teams on their schedule). UTSA is playing two Division II teams in addition to McNeese and UTSA's WAC conference mates at home. ]
Not that it matters really but UTSA is a year behind Lamar as a start up so their schedule is what it is. Playing only FCS or better each year will require travelling more and will also require not backing out on people after they come here to Bmt when its time to return the favor like they did last season or people will become very leary of scheduling home and homes with LU unless LU comes there first. -

I don't think it matter what conference they are in they still have to travel a lot. I guess if the money if right then AFA could join the BE for football and put their other teams in PL. I just think that's a long shot but you never know. But I still don't see the remaining MWC schools inviting Lamar, no matter what we think about it. If they refuse to take New Mexico State then there's no way they want Lamar.
Ok since you want to use exact words. MWC commissioner said no to Idaho and NMSU. He also said no non-football schools and he will invite the Texas schools. Cola, who are the Football playing Texas schools? No CUSA, BE, SEC, or Big 12 football playing school in Texas will leave their conference to go to the MWC. So who are those Texas schools the MWC commissioner is targeting? Can anyone tell me?
Texas State and North Texas.
Use a bit of common sense. North Texas will not leave conference games in San Antonio, Houston, Tulsa, and New Orleans to play in Fort Collins and Laramie. And pay a 5 million dollar exit fee.
And you think Texas State will??? They are both Sunbelt schools so there is as good a chance for NT as TXST. Im not sure either would trade that for a MWC that has gotten so deperate they would be going after Lamar?
This is North Texas last season in the Sunbelt. Next year they will be playing in CUSA. You did know UNT was going to CUSA? Texas st would be as crazy as Lamar was for going back to the Southland to not go MWC. MWC still ranks higher than the SBC. Will you be happy for Lamar if the MWC invites Texas st and Lamar?
Honestly no I didnt as I only follow my university and the other members of its conference and dont really concern myself with everyone else and moving up on a daily basis. -

Southland announces preseason all conference teams

This list is normally made up of returning all conference players and then they add others. Correct me if Im wrong but arent the only couple of all conference players yall had last season gone? -
Lamar wants to avoid kickoff time confusion
kingkat99 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Day games in and of themselves are not bad. thaey just affect the tailgating experience, and if you have kids involved in any kind of fall sports or events it makes it difficult to attend the game alone much less tailgate, hence the reason my kids are not allowed to play fall sports. -

Sam Houston does the same thing 6pm games in september and the rest are at 2pm. It kills tailgating and does nothing to improve the gameday experience. -
As of late there is no one here talking Lamar but you much less ragging SH. And I dont piss on Lamar in every thread, just every thread about Lamar. Big reason for it is out of all the SLC schools Lamar was the only one whose fans were wishing we would lose and be poor representatives of our conference in the playoffs last season, not that I need a reason.

Just curious why a guy who went to unlv and calls himself "UNLV" even cares, much less rants like you do about things and since no one seems to be playing along with your last couple threads I thought Id ask.
