Much better post than your "Lamar is a bad school in a dirty town" (my paraphrase) comment of past.  Maybe your relative here took you to the woodshed.
Just giving credit where its due....you still couldn't pay me to live in the Dirty B though... ;)
 2.
Wow kingkat! Thanks! Usually we get you going the other way lol AAW, tell me if I'm right but shouldn't we not be eligible next year? I think its some sort of two year beginning probation (Not sure the actual name for it) I think UCA had that issue a couple years ago when they came up to the SLC. They won conference but didn't earn the automatic bid and it went to Texas State.
I want to say that Central Arkansas ended up waiting like 4 years all together before being eligible for the playoffs but their situation was a little different than Lamars...and you're right I don't know what has gotten into me lately, I told my Mom my oldest could go to a Lamar game where my grandpa is being recognized with a bunch of past players and could where a Lamar shirt while she is there(as long as I didn't pay for it)[img][/img] and I can use it to wash my truck when she's done with it...
Usually, visiting fans get a good reception in the tailgate areas.   You may get a little good natured ribbing but, if you are friendly and go introduce yourself, you will probably get offered all kinds of food and drink. At the game, you should be okay.   We have a several fans that sit above the visiting section in P & O that have caused a little trouble before but we have tried to calm those guys down.   If you encounter them, best thing to do is just ignore them.  Best not to have rabbit ears with those guys. If you get there in the afternoon, come to our tailgate area (spots 14 & 16 in the Westside Reserved Tailgating Area - numbers are painted on the roadway) and introduce yourself.   If you get there after the Band marches through the tailgate area at about 6PM, it will be too late as we will be putting stuff up to go to the stadium. As fans from all over the country that have been down and tailgated with us will agree, "We will tailgate with you before the game, try to beat the heck out of your team during the game, and then tailgate some more with you after the game no matter the result". Doc
My wife and I went and watch Sam Houston play there last season and we had a good time...you will be razzed during the game especially if you sit on the student side as we did, but they seemed to take as good as they give so it ended up being a great time...
 5. Not sure if they are just sandbagging or if they really are concerned but there are several Mcneese fans on AGS that are unwilling to say that Mcneese will win this game saturday...
 6.
I would like for Lamar to be included with UTSA and TxST but that may not happen. So my question is,with the budget crisis in Louisiana and the possibility of losing 1 or more Louisiana schools, what would be the SLC options? The conference would be down to six or less schools. What D2 school could they invite or what conference could they merge with, etc? I do not like this scenario, but I think this is real possibility. What options does the SLC have or what do you think the SLC will do?
If the SLC loses UTSA and TXST its essentially a wash football wise in that UTSA has never fielded a football team anyway and TXST would basically be replaced by Lamar so at the end of the day the conference hasnt lost much.  Now if they start losing La schools due to budget issues I would say invite the likes of Tarlton State, Or TXAM Kingsville to join in, or they could consider telling UTA and AM-CC they have to field teams now if they want to stay in the Conference.

I really dont have the answers right now but i hope someone does and makes the changes quick friday will be upon us before we know it.
That went out the window with "we're gonna be unstoppale" and "cant catch what you cant see"... ::) I gotta mention this...  What happened to that 30 points you said y'all were gonna put up???? ;) ::)
We want even play in the southland till next year. Lets just make sure we support this program through what is probably going to be a tough couple of years.
UTSA never snapped the ball and is 1 year behind LU, yet they are ready to join a FBS conference. Keep in mind change is coming to the SLC. OUT UTSA Texas st possible Nicholls possible UTA possible SHSU possible SFA IN Tarleton st Texas A&I Central OK Can you honestly see the stands full...
If you put a quality winning program on the field the stands will be full...SHSU only recently began studying the feasability of making that move but that ball isnt exactly rolling down hill.  UTA doesnt even field a team at all, SFA hasnt given any indication they are looking to move up.  UTSA is a year behind LU but they went a completly different route in starting their program so they may be a year behind in play on the field but they are light years ahead in every other category.  Nichols State well to be honest isnt much better than Tarleton State anyway, and remember Texas State and UTSA may be in a better position to make that move but they have not even been invited by anyone yet either...
We need to win. However winning at the FCS will not pack the house especially playing SFA, SHSU, Abilene Christian, Delta st, etc etc... At the FBS level even if we are having a 2-6 season, bringing in Alabama, Texas Tech, Boise st will pack the house.
Id say Mcneese's house stays pretty packed and so do the likes of Appalachan State and Montana and most other programs with a winning tradition.  And having a home and home with the likes of Tech and Alabama would not ne a regular occurence by any means especially if you cant be competitive and you cant play in a bigger stadium than provost umphrey...
Boise st opponents said the same thing.
Boise State could be used more as an exception than a rule...ask Western Kentucky how fbs is working out for them and they have played fcs football in the last 20 yrs hell they won a national championship this decade and got greedy made that move and last season they sold season tickets for 5 dollars a game just to try and fill the seats.  Ask Marshall if fbs is as great as they thought it would be...Montana has voted down the idea at least once before already because its better and more fun for the fans to be cream of the crop than cellar dweller or middle of the pack...

 15. Mcneese will be the toughest fans you see all season...if you plan on going you better sit with Lamar fans and most definitely not on the student side...team wise SFA will prolly be the toughest and SHSU the easiest since we have a team younger than the cardinals team...I'd go so far as to say the only team you guys should get your hopes up to beat of the four southland opponents is SHSU...and that's no given either.
Stick around buddy and you will see who is obnoxious. You will not find one PN-G fan discussing their hate for any other school just to do it. You are not going to find a PN-G fan with a screen name on here that directly reflects their hatred of another school. Fact is every week the team we play is gunning for us whether we are up or down. Open a thread about PN-G and you will find fans from schools we do not even play making stupid comments. Find me a thread on here where a PN-G fan is doing that. Just like Aggy these other fans are jealous. They fixate on one opponent and make it their whole season. How many A&M stickers you see with the stupid "saw em off" stickers on cars or shirts? Really? Beat the heck out of TU? Really? How many Longhorn fans do you see with an anti-A&M sticker or shirt rolling around on a normal week other than MAYBE T+1? Aggy obsesses over UT and the average HS fan in this area loves nothing more than to hate PN-G. If you can dispute that I would love to see you do it. Most on this board or not like that but the few make it all the more intolerable. And yes our "Chief" is great for PN-G football.
Aggy fans and PNG fans are obnoxious for very different reasons....Aggys have a different envy and cant seem to get it that they are second class compared to UT in football but they still run their mouth...PNG is more often than not good and everyone knows it hence the reason you have a target on your back, but case in point when a thread is started about a game two months away and four post into it before the first down of the first scrimmage has even been played you have a guy saying "PNG will attack through the air and on the ground...they wont be stopped"...Really?? and two posts later "watch and be amazed you cant stop what you cant catch"...Really??  and all this followed by excuses of why games played by the beloved "Gods" of football were close games, just cause a crappy team almost beat you...its not at all hard to see why people want to see you beat and be the ones to beat you week in and week out... Please do not name private body parts  PNGP

SFA will be the team that hands it to LU. Lamar      38 Mcneese  41 Mcneese will look past LU and get a scare.
I will put good money down that Lamar doesn't score 38 against a defense that returns 10 starters, including preseason all conference members at every position in the secondary.
;D ;D ;D ;D....anythiing less than a 5 td margin of victory for McNeese should be considered a disappointing victory...
 19. Point well taken....but he does this on every board he posts on....Im not gonna defend him, but I will defend my alma mater.
 20. The point of my original post was why do you wait until you actually play the first down of football before you throw other programs under the bus for attendance numbers.....truthfully why don't you wait until the end of the first round of three year committments people had to make in order to get a decent seat and the new wears off before we talk about problems of other programs.   I will say one advantage you will have is that most alumni dont  leave the area after graduation where as there isn't much to keep folks around huntsville.  I drive there 5 saturdays every fall  after my kids soccer games and not many people want to do that.
 21. You do see the same at shsu...and yes our fan base is very fair weather as the majority of most fcs schools are, but at least ours has never gotten to the point of a program dying all together...look I hope LU does well since I'm contributing through my wifes fees for he masters degree...
 22. I live here in se Texas and I am aware of how the communities support their hs teams and what not but I am also aware that ten years ago all you saw were aggie shirts and stickers on cars and now it's all ut junk...so you will see that when the new wears off if you guys aren't worth a flip the attendance will drop like a rock...even at shsu where just 5 years ago we had double digit attendance numbers and all it took was a useless sack of crap coach(who is now your oc) to run our program in the ground...people will come and support a good product win or lose but when you aren't even competitive as a consumer not buying the product is how you complain and get someones attention and it worked as we have a new coach...I am a season ticket holder to SHSU Football and I never quite going but the seats around me slowly emptied as time went on...Hopefully you'll be as good as you think...oh and as for bball who gives a rip...
 23. Lamar Football would only make more money as long as ol daddy umphrey and his buddies keep buying up suites and tickets to make it look good...What was Lamars football attendance for the last 20 years??? Oh yeah ZERO and Im guessing you'll have a better excuse for the program dying last time other than the Golden Triangle being the fair-weather fan capital of Texas...it new now so everyone will come out and watch but wait till woodard and co fall on their face and the old folks that make up the cardinal club get to old to attend and you'll be back to basketball as your flagship sport again...
