I can't believe you still want Lamar in the WAC. YUCK. The Sunbelt does not want to give up Texas to the WAC. The Sunbelt could grab Lamar to get the Houston area recruits. It would be nutts for the SBC to sit back and let the WAC take Houston along with Austin, San Antonio, and DFW. There might already be a tug-a-war between the SBC and WAC for a Houston school. Lamar and Sam. I say let the WAC take Sam, Lamar goes SBC.
I prefer the SBC and Dr. Simmons prefers the SBC but I haven't seen one indication that the SBC wants Lamar.  It's easy to name the reasons why the SBC should invite Lamar but until I see one shred of evidence (or even a rumor) that the SBC is looking at Lamar then for now it's either the WAC or the SLC.
Have you seen the indication of the WAC wanting Lamar. hint hint the WAC added 3 non-football schools. Coach, think about it. The WAC could use it's Texas presence to crush the SBC in football in time. The SBC needs to counter by adding another Texas school in or near Houston. Who would that be?    Or do you really think the SBC will allow the WAC to take those Houston recruits along with San Antonio, Austin, and DFW. Think about it coach, I can't believe its not so obvious to you. Texas is the gold mine, the WAC has 3 and the SBC has 1. And that 1 wants out.
I'm not disagreeing with you about Lamar joining the SBC.  I agree with all the points you are making and there has been talk about the SBC eventually going with 12 football schools.  I'm just saying that unless there's some behind the scenes talking going on between Lamar and the SBC then it's only a pipe dream at the moment.  (I also think Lamar only gets invited to the WAC if all the western schools turn down the WAC.) The SBC will be down to 11 schools once Denver leaves, but they need to lose UALR and/or ULM.  Those two belong in the SLC.  Lamar could then rejoin the SBC along with two other football schools for 12 team all-sports conference that's travel friendly.  IMO, Lamar is a better fit than both UALR and ULM. I really hope this happens.  I do agree with you that Lamar needs to be proactive on this and get it done.  I'm just not sure how high up Lamar is on the SBC's wish list.
i love it, you two "wacksters" are starting to sound...puddin-ish!

 10. I love Clint, he's great with kids.....but this has me scratching my head a little... offensively, been 12 years since he callled more than 2 or 3 pass plays a game--defensively--they will smash your mouth as for Sgt. Rey and his misspelled "click" ::)...long?stump?theriot?...
 11.
Your right I'm sure the kids they recruit from Ozen are'nt wealthy. Bottom line is your crying because SPX recruits the entire Houston area and all you get is beaumont!! What a bunch of babies!
WB had a couple good years with Kelly kids that Stump recruited btw..St. Vincent is a jr hi in houston...any other wisdom to share?

And one of them was a kicker.
There were 3 seniors that went Div.1, but jr's. Taylor Meighan, who is now the starting center at Washington State, and Doug Prewitt starting Lamar Qb, both played on that team. As well as Cris Quinn who now plays for Baylor. Wasn't just seniors on that team.

Long aint much of a loss.........the 2008 class shoulda, woulda, coulda won state...Long showed then he could easily be outcoached...shoulda canned him after that season Long is one of the best offensive minds in this area. The fact is that Kelly has 400 students and plays teams that have 1,000 students. Everytime Kelly steps on the field they are the inferior team. The year you are referring to, St. Pius won state that year and Kelly had beat them during the season. Fort Worth Nolan beat Kelly by 4 points, it wasn't like they just ran them off the field. The next year when Kelly played Fort Worth Nolan again, they lost to them by 6 points and had 2 touchdowns called back. Kelly's team was nothing like it was the year before either. I would say that coaching was the only thing that kept Kelly in that game. Fort Worth went on to go win state. Fort Worth Nolan had 60 kids suited up compared to Kelly's 20 something. They had 12 coaches on staff compared to Kelly's 6. To discredit Long with what he had to work with is unjust. Kelly plays teams from Houston, Fort Worth, Dallas and Austin and all those schools recruit out of their metropolitan areas. Kelly gets kids from St. Annes and All Saints. St. Pius has put out 11 Division 1 players in the last 3 years and are in Kelly's district. The playing field isn't exactly fair, thats all I am going to say.
2008 was a once in 30 years group of kids and should have never lost to Nolan--as long as your talking scholarships, what 5 college ballplayers off that team? lost last year TWICE to Houston Christian--same size---i think they had 2 different plays---0-6 in district? at least the mystery boyz from port arthur disappeared

I just think if your not familiar with the Kelly community and program you shouldnt be talking about it. bmtball, your def right Kelly has a good deal of senior talent, and the incoming freshman are the most talented class to come through since well this years senior class.
This is public forum so I will discuss the "Kelly community" if I please.  My point is that there are kids that play ball at Kelly.  Kids that were counting on their coach to be there, not to drop them in July for a public school assistant job so that he can get his "retirement".  He could've done this earlier, since this has been his plan (according to you), in order for them to have more time to find a suitable replacement.  That is all I am saying.  Seems kind of disloyal to the players who have been loyal to Long.
Coaches leave all over the state of Texas.  Players loyal to Long?....no.  Loyal to Kelly?....sure.  Good for Coach Long.  Best wishes for Kelly. They will find a Coach that will want to "move" there.
Exactly, Kelly players are there playing for Kelly. And discuss Kelly all you want but don't spout off your opinions of what the Kelly community and players think.
I agree with him..and am part of the "Kelly Community"..dont wait till july to bail out

Of course, all this is speculation, but where there is smoke.......
Actually, I think a number of Kelly people were aware of his desire to end his career in the public school system, so he could qualify for TRS retirement.  Perhaps, just not now, given his returning class is a strong one on both sides of the ball.  Plus the freshman class coming in to Kelly next fall will be an athletic one in several sports. I can't remember if it was last year or the year before, he was one of the candidates who applied for the Orangefield job.  So we were aware he was on the lookout.
Long aint much of a loss.........the 2008 class shoulda, woulda, coulda won state...Long showed then he could easily be outcoached...shoulda canned him after that season according to campbells football mag, MKCHS has 9/9 starters returning..should be a good yr if new qb comes thru

 17. all 3 (louis, lopez, wilkins) rec some financial assistance-- and "Woodard has distributed portions of that scholarship money to quarterback Doug Prewitt, a Kelly graduate who played last season as a walk-on, wide receiver Josh Powdrill (West Brook) and defensive back Branden Thomas (Central)." good job--they earned it !

Outfielder Collin DeLome, who was placed on the disabled list May 11 with a partially torn biceps tendon and a torn labrum, has also resumed baseball activities but is a little further away from returning. But DeLome is likely to rejoin the team soon as extended spring training has ended. “He'll have to get his work in here probably,” RedHawks manager Tony DeFrancesco said. “It'll be nice to get those two back.” Read more: [Hidden Content]
hope he moves up...the Lastros are picking up quite a few outfielders in the draft.... wonder if colin can play catcher...lord knows astros need one! oh yeAH..dump carlos!

 24.
You guys do realize that just two years ago, LU did not have a football program? But now, ya'll are all pissed off that Woodard can't get any FBS schools to come play in our 16,000 seat (albeit very nice) stadium? Please tell me why that would happen when most FBS schools play in front of at least 30,000 people and make at least $500,000 each home game in attendance cash alone, but you guys are expecting them to give that up to come and play in Beaumont against a 2nd year program? No, no, no... College football is a business and a school has to make more money than they spend to keep a program afloat. That sounds familiar... (Sounds like what LU is doing by getting these schools to come play at Provost to make more money for the upstart program, when you can never have enough) So, if you're truly an LU fan... You WILL continue to come out and watch them play whoever they play. Give them some time to move up to a FBS conference and expand their glorified high school stadium (Obviously as nice as a college stadium, but I even played in bigger high school stadiums) before you start demanding these FBS programs to start coming to town. That's all Woodard is saying... As of now, LU has nothing to offer those FBS programs. "Hey, come play in our 16,000 seat stadium... We have a nice scoreboard... We're a second year program... We have the Elegante on I10 for you guys to stay in... It'll be well worth you guys giving up the millions of dollars you'll give up to come and play us... It'll be great!" No... Give them time. Good things don't happen overtime. Rome wasn't built in a day... Good things come to those who wait. Okay, sorry enough slogans. That's my piece on the subject.
karma for you been waiting along time...I'll be there vs Incarnate Word, McSneeze, whoever for me, football doesnt end on Friday nite
