i gotz no problem with the turf grass..but get some good ole  dirt by those bases..... gotta have something for those kids that are buried on the depth chart to do
 2.
Lamar better start looking again for an FBS conference to join.  Word on the MWC board is that Utah State and San Jose State are the newest MWC members.  This move would pretty much eliminate the WAC.  San Jose had 8K fans for their last home game.  Go figure.
The WAC  is a  who's who of teams that have left it

" Even if you can't beat those teams?
Lamar certainly can't beat them if they stay FCS.
Good Lord...we've been playing for a year!

 5. oo-la-la leaves....ulm goes to southland....appy state,ga southern join sunbelt....oo-la-la and lu join wac...can we get utah st.  and idaho to leave and go back to big west?
 6. they could fit this crowd in a mini-van..LU bball is at an all time low
if i counted right, LU has about 8 or 9 wr that will be sophs next year(2 may be juniors) ((if they all come back)), plus..if these new rb's pan out, add hussey back in the slot.. I think for a wr to get a scholarship next yr, he'd have to be something really special....not saying Sonnier is or isnt
Olsen field at A&M is nice. I played there when I was 13 for the state championship. Awesome. I like Vincent Beck though, I remember when the Gators played there, heck I was a bat boy for them for one year. The memories. I think just add visitor locker room next to the indoor batting cages and maybe look at building an awning over the stands like at alot of other college fields that covers the majority of the stands. Just a little more work and I think it will be one of the premier college baseball stadiums around.
I Agree, I love V-B  (could tell John Kruk was one heckuva player watching the gators) Awnings from first to third..leave the outfield foul line bleachers open to catch fouls...and get rid of the artifical dirt!
 9. i got out my crystal ball...i see those 2 florida skools in the sunbelt..fiu and fla at..going somewhere else...appy st and ga southern wanna move up somewhere...ULM oughta drop to the Southland...i think there will be a major shakeup in a year or two in the sunbelt, and possibly a new  FBS conference  along the east coast... and if the NCAA every sticks to their 15,000 minimum attendance to stay FBS...things will really get shaken up

Everybody wants them going to the WAC and other mid major conferences, so LU will have to recruit better. Thats just my opinion and it's way different then yours. Figured you to be a yankee by your mouth. Sorry you get your feelings hurt when someone says thier opinion, but if if your going to sit thier and say that watching Lamar football this year was like watching college football your kidding yourself. I don't care how [roud you are of LU and your family track record. I just want to see LU drastically improve the football program to compete year in year out. I didn't expect them to be a top notch team the first year, but I was surprised at the lack of fundementals that I observed.
well big...i wiped out my computer trying to "over-smite" him.. "recruit from "this area"..that means mid-county..which we have a couple on roster and a recruit..more stuff he probably doesnt care to know..looked like college football to me..not the best in the world..but it was  college football..in beaumont..gotta love it
 12.
As a former "local" Lamar athlete that won't fly and the coaches know that.  If they want local talent they have to treat them like they are anyone else.  This has been part of the problem with the basketball program.  They have lost several kids who were locals that they thought they could get to walk on and they ended up going to another southland school and biting them in the behind.
glad to hear that
 13. of  the 40 something local kids on the roster now, any idea how many of em are scholarship /walkons?  just curious... I'm thinking...you got Bubba Jones, not local, or Jimmy Triangle, local, ..you think they are equal talent....sign Bubba and get Jimmy to walk on...
 14. what do they have in mind for vincent -beck...thats a pretty nice college stadium as it is...can't get used to the idea of astro-tuff dirt tho... hopefully some shade?

As fine a program as TCU has developed over the past 10-12 years, the average about 32-35K fans per home game, depending on their opponent.  That may change for TCU now that they will move to the big East.  But I doubt it.  Rice only gets large crowds when Texas or the Aggie$ come to town, and 90% of the fans are horns or aggies which makes it a home game for them.  Same for Houston. On top of that, enlarging Cardinal Stadium to 50K will cost mucho money, so you better have a Daddy Warbucks or two to cover the cost. Not trying to keep you guys down, but ya'll need to be reasonable.
use reason, you get called an idiot
Puddin, it wasn't me that called you a idiot. I'm sure your a fine person(you're a Cardinal fan, you can't be all bad :D). All I'm trying to say is, if we win, people will come to the games. I don't know how many people will come to the games, I don't have a crystal ball. I do know everyone loves a winner. If 15,000 people come or 50,000, I'll be one of them. I hope you will be one, too. Go Big Red!
started going in the late 60's..havent missed many

I still say being in the WAC will allow Lamar to attract better home games than if they stayed in the SLC.  No FBS teams will come to Beaumont if Lamar stays in the SLC, not even Sun Belt teams.  So just being in the WAC allows a better non-conference schedule, and they could still schedule McNeese if they wanted to. Which of these conference home schedules would draw more fans? Typical SLC home slate: Nicholls State, SFA, McNeese, SLU Typical WAC home slate: Utah State, SJSU, UTSA, La Tech One other thing, would Lamar have a good crowd for a Thursday night ESPN game?
The only competition in the area on a Thurs night is Fresh/JV football games. Thursday ESPN game would definitely sell out.
Agreed... I still say once LU go FBS, Lamar should go after a home game in Reliant with Texas or AM.
why would that be a HOME game?

If La Tech leaves the WAC it will be for C-USA. Then the two schools in the Southern Conference have won multiple FCS championships and I have yet to hear of them being mentioned going FBS. SHSU is very tentative about going FBS and leaving the SLC. So for Lamar it is the WAC or Sun Belt if a team or two leaves. Otherwise, we'll be in the SLC. I would assume that because PNG was playing about 10 miles away at the same time for both games that had alot to do with the attendance of the last 2 games. If I was lamar I would think about scheduling all your home games before HS playoffs start and play last 2 games on the road but that is just me.
didnt rain a drop at the game..dont hear Aggies, gators, wolverines complaining about the weather you cant outdraw westbrook and central , you aint ready for FBS
Just to clarify, Westbrook and Central weren't in the same ballpark in attendance as the Lamar Cardinals. I believe Javelina mentioned a PNG playoff game at the same time at the new football complex in Beaumont. Lamar has a lot of alumni from PNG and I'm sure it did effect attendance some. What the guys in the athletic development office want is more Lamar students at the games.
when people choose high school over college, maybe you oughta stay FCS.
