Sleepy played a sport at Lamar but I'll let him tell you which one if he wants.
Glad to hear it. I've coached at the D1 level. Believe what you want to believe.
great, a pissing contest i think our kicker will be fine, punter hit some nice punts....I've seen the krap Carona gets at texas tech..our kicker doesnt need that.
 2. oh yeah... chunk that tater, Todd!
 3. I think this is ND first year in FCS...moving up from Div II, 2001 National champs, a bunch of conference championships...they definately are used to winning..that said: LU17-16 was reading on their website...they have the old , hard turf...even they dont like it...
 4.
That is unbelievable!
I was thinking, surely we aren't the only team playing NCAA football not to have a rushing TD? 632 teams?  Got kinda worried but found Div II Mizzou S&T, Div III Tufts and Maryville(TN) have zero. 4 teams outta over 600 that have not rushed for a TD....and we are one of em! Heck, lets go for it all...chunk that ball, Ray!
 5. We are the only team out of all 125 FCS teams without a rushing touchdown!
 6. weather wont bother them..40's outside, 70 inside...the noon kickoff might...we score on the road... LU 17-16 GO BIG RED
 7. didnt epke get hurt vs. so bama?
We are a first year program and two of our starting DL are injured with one being a season ending one. Heck, we had to move a couple of reserve OL to DL last week just to have some depth. So, it is the DL responsibility to protect the LB's and let them move from sideline to sideline making tackles. Maybe the reason the vast majority of football teams are lead in tackles by their LB's. Ours aren't big but they are pretty good. Asim Hicks is 6'0, 210lbs and Jonathan Ekpe 5'11, 205lbs are good but will improve in the offseason with the strenth and conditioning program. Then hopefully we'll get Anthony Beard the freshman LB from Lumberton back next season from an ACL injury and maybe add a couple of other LB's. Problems is we only have 12 or 13 scholarships to give out in Feb and LB isn't one of our biggest need areas. We heed a couple more OL and DL add a couple stud skilled position players (if able), heard they might add another kicker. So the few scholarships we have will go fast unless they are able to land a few local stars and give them partials and spread out our scholarships a little.
I didnt say ours werent any good...  I  like our LBs.  That said, we could use a redneck, smack you in the face LB. Might be Beard, if he comes back from Knee surg. ok.....
sounds like a Dr. Suess book
 10.
How about scheduling teams that people want to see?  The Texas Tech and BYU games from a few years ago drew some decent crowds.  Roc needs to stop scheduling these non-D1 teams and bring in some real teams.
i think he's trying to save his job

I think the kicker will be fine.
Was Woodard the coach at Navarro when Hall played there?  Hall is running out of chances so maybe he'll do what it takes to play for Woodard.
we played like a junior college...i think we have enuf Navarro on the team

Go Big Red!
Well, you were right about one thing.  We did change the 6pts per game they were allowing.   ;D
yup...we did do that..........
Not to join the debate as you guys got it going on but South Alabama has a pretty nice football facility in Mobile to play in and recruit to. [Hidden Content]#
talked with some of the south bammy's people..there is a big push for an on-campus stadium there
 14. this rb dude?  flunked out everwhere he's been...he gonna come to LU and suddenly decide to study? I think the kicker will be fine.

I could not agree with you more.  It's ashame that they let Taylor Trahan slip through their fingers.  We definitely would not have to worry about missed field goal attempts!
Some TSU-SM posters were blaming the kicker for their quadruple overtime loss to Nicholls on Saturday, and it reminded me of something my high school coach used to tell me. If the offense had played better, we wouldn't have needed the kicker to begin with. Before you start blaming kickers for not making chip shots, just think about if the offense had done a little better and gotten him closer. He used to tell us that if the defense had picked up some fumbles or ran back some interceptions, we wouldn't have lost either. We lost a lot. =( That's my opinion on it, but that's because I saw my offense in high school get chewed out a lot, and we were all pretty down after losses. It's easy to blame the kicker.
Oh come on, if not for the kicker we would be undefeated!   :D
If not for the kicker, you would have been shut out against SFA. I feel bad for kickers. They get all the grief if they miss one and the team loses, but the QB gets all the credit for driving them down the field in the final minutes so that the kicker can kick it.
Your coach wouldn't have been Coach Larry Haynes at Lumberton?
i think the kicker will be fine..he shanked one, big whoop-- bevil shanked the whole game...amazing though, rag the kicker, bevil is untouchable..must be a wo-s thing punter gots some wheels..put him at wideout.
 18.
He's pretty spot on, if you think about, Beaumont is 4x bigger than Nacogdoches and Huntsville, and about 2x the size of San Marcos. Y'all should be drawing decent crowds for all your sports. It's been great so far, but I predicted a while back that next year (outside of home opener and homecoming), that number will probably level off to about 9,000-10,000, with slightly bigger numbers for the McNeese game (assuming it isn't homecoming)
we also have 4x the number of people who think football ends on Friday night, have never seen Lamar, and would rather sit on the couch and watch the big ten 10k might be a little light
 19. So bammy's coach has one yr of college coaching experience....the rest high school ...our OC? an impressive 25-28 record at Slam houston...11yrs head coaching experience at college level... He got schooled by a high school coach...........
 20.

How many turnover's a game do they average?  One turnover gave USA 7 points.  Another turnover killed a long drive which cost Lamar at least 3 points.  What happened to the big pass plays they were making at the beginning of the season?  Now that the defense is improving the offense is falling apart.  Good thing there's a bye week, maybe they can fix some things on offense.  I still think a 5 win season is possible.
I agree, you SHOULD be able to pull off a win against OKPHS, and maybe a surprise win over the next three games, although UND will be VERY tough, especially on the road.
WE MAY SWEEP THE ROAD GAMES ;D... we've scored points on the road.......
 21. this second choice Off Coordinator is a joke if we are gonna stink, lets stink with some new players if the starting ones aint cutting it. Just a question...is Bevil too short to pass over the middle?  or is that too difficult for the OC to draw up? may be the first year, aint the first game.
 22. Slam's definately got some players..I would expect that next year.....but 57-7?  did they let some of the "residents" play .......
 23. yeah...that was....hmmm.........uh....i dunno.... where were the half-time fireworks tonight?
 24. wasting time on the computer while his pit bulls are starving, kids are in dirty diapers  and the plumbing on the double wide is backed up
