It looks to me like our coaching staff needs to prepare the team a little better and teach Bevil to look off a receiver every now and then. I do understand he is under pressure so I say(Bevil) RUN with the ball every now and then. We really need to practice some tackling drills, seems we can't tackle anyone unless we use 5-6 guys. I do think if the coaching staff is very good that in a couple years we should be much improved.
the coaching staff hasnt impressed me........please prove me wrong, Ray
 2. you don't need 4 years of college football experience to learn how to wrap up and finish a tackle............. did I expect Lu to be good this year? no...do I expect them to make a tackle here and there? yes...do i expect a little more than schoolyard "go long and I'll chunk it?, yup... on the positive side, the band played a new tune!
 3.
Congratulations to the BearKats on their victory starting a true freshman QB and red-shirt RB who transferred from Kansas State. Our offense is terrible, too many TO's, the O-line can't create a lane for the RB's to gain some yardage on the ground and they aren't protecting our QB in the passing game. SHSU had pressure on Bevil all night. Yes, he makes some very questionable throws into coverages. I hope Coach Woodard recuits a QB, RB and a couple of O-linemen. Defense, they can't stop the run. 3 of the 4 teams we have played had a RB go well over 100 yards rushing for the game. I don't know if it is coaching or the guys just can't tackle. They seem to hit the runner and just bounce off. Our defense doesn't produce any TO's and SHSU had the ball over 40 minutes of the game to LU's 20 minutes. There is so much more to say but I'm at work now so have to cut it short. Still bleed red and white but hate losing. I'll be there for HC at Provost Umphrey with a few family members.
I hope Coach Woodard recuits a QB, RB and a couple of O-linemen. unless they quit, i think we have  6 qbs.
 4. -re:defense...this might be the slowest defense in organized sports (or maybe they just quickly run to the wrong spot) also, extremely poor tackling..and covererage??????? -re:hussey...fumble, here's the pine -re bevil---delivery makes tebow look like marino..time it with an hour glass need a qb with just a hint, a smidgen of running threat re: fans...there are 4 quarters, beautiful night..stay for the game.. SOS to ray alborn for offensive help
SHSU has a good QB! anyone know what grade he is in? & I would like to see another QB get a chance, not saying Bevil isn't the best QB on the team but when your down and out give another guy a chance to see what he can do..I'd also like to see the O-line block better, the Defense hit somebody with intensity and Billy Chavis used more.
true freshman,   rb is red shirt freshman

 11.
There's also the fact that schools that participate in the FCS playoffs lose money.  Most FCS schools average less than 10K per game so it's not a money maker.  So for schools like UTSA and Texas State, if they have the money they'll make the jump to FBS.  There's a lot of FCS schools out there talking about going FBS.  I would not be surprised one bit if the NCAA gets rid of the FCS/FBS divisions.  What other D1 sport has divisions like that?
so, swtsu is going to magically, suddenly get fan support?  30k per game...playing utsa?...utah st?

And lets not forget about the huge budget cuts that will hit NWst, SEla, Nicholls, and Mcneese in 2011. I wouldn't be surprised if football was dropped or downgrade to DIII in 3 of the 4 schools. Replacement for them may have to be non football schools like Houston Baptist and Pan Am.
I think you've been smoking some of that funny stuff with coachacola.  You honestly believe that between McNeese NW State SeLa and Nicholls, 3 of them will be Division III or not have football at all??!!  Please!
State higher education officials presented doom-and-gloom budget scenarios Tuesday to a state Senate committee showing what could happen when the federal stimulus money runs dry next summer. One such possibility included the closure of eight of the state’s 14 public universities as a means to reduce state funding of college costs by 30 percent, or about $300 million. That scenario would involve shuttering Nicholls State University, McNeese State University, Southern University at New Orleans, LSU at Alexandria, LSU at Shreveport, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Grambling State University and Northwestern State University. [Hidden Content]
i could see em shuttering Nichols, the LSUs@--,..think Southern and Grambling are untouchable, NW and Mc would be safe, i think.....as for ULM..never could figure out why the need for two state schools  30 min apart

He played it in high school and can throw it decently if needed to. But let's hope Douglas can teach us how to Dougie!!! :D
Hopefully it will be Prewitt and they will let him throw it.  Jackson is almost worthless if he won't throw.  If they have to go with Prewitt I hope they aren't overly conservative like they were with him in Huntsville.  heck, he can't turn the ball over too many more times than Bevil does.
I think he will surprise a lot of people tomorrow. The guy played great at Kelly, and his height was the only knock on him coming out of high school. Sam Houston looked at him at QB as did some DII schools, but he came to Lamar to be a preferred walk-on WR. However, when Smith went down, they needed another QB and he passed up Tatum on the depth chart. The guy has worked his butt off to be where he is now. Best of luck to Doug, tomorrow.
he'll be ok
I'm trying to figure out what is so impressive about UTSA and Texas State.  Sam, SFA, and McNeese all have much better athletics than they do.
