1. You would think that after 20+ years Lamar would have by now stumbled blindly on a head coach that can win, but they can't even do that.
 2. I don't think going to the WAC is a no-brainer, there are risks involved.  In all probability Lamar will have the lowest budget in the WAC.  I think Simmons and Tidwell are hoping for an opening in the Sun Belt to open up so they can get back into that conference.  I bet Lamar is still trying to determine if it's worth jumping to the WAC.  I don't think it's a lock that Lamar will be going to the WAC but I hope they do.  I think it's a risk they have to take.

[Hidden Content]
After reading that article, Lamar is a LOCK.  Nobody else wants to join the WAC.  ;D
Irony...nobody WANTS to join the WAC, teams within the WAC are trying and have tried to get out (Utah State and San Jose State) and yet Lamar is a LOCK to get in?  What is that saying about the conference landscape and where Lamar stands?
The Cali schools don't have the money to join the WAC that's why some of them don't want to join the WAC.  Seattle U does want to join the WAC although they don't have football.  Schools that are already FBS don't want to join the WAC because they have no reason to.  And if you think the SLC is better than the WAC then you really do want Lamar to stay small and invisible in the college sports world.
 4.
Lazeek and Coach who would you like to see LU try to go after?? I would like to look at BCG, Gottfried, or Lil Knight..   I say dream BIG....
Who is Lil Knight?  I hope you don't mean Pat Knight over at Texas Tech!  He's not doing that well.
 5.
hey coach what is Rocs overall record if you subtract all the non d1 schools wins. cant be good i know he is 72-74 right now.
2007: 13-17 2008: 15-11 2009: 11-15 2010: 10-18 2011: 5-13 (so far) Not pretty.
 6. If you throw out the sub-D1 games Roc has scheduled, he's only had 1 winning season out of 5.  Throw in the fact that the SLC is one of the weakest conferences in the country then it's definitely time for him to go.
 7. A few weeks ago Tidwell said in his radio show that several conferences were interested in Lamar and that he expects a big shakeup of conferences in a few months.  I think they would prefer to go a the Sun Belt and may be waiting a little to see what happens on that front.  There's no rush for Lamar to announce a move to the WAC today as Benson indicated they'll be evaluating schools over the next few months, and as UNLV said, there's not any other football schools willing to jump to the WAC. Lamar's budget and facilities will need to be upgraded, but that can happen over time and isn't really an overnight thing.  They football stadium can be expanded in stages and doesn't need to be 30K+ next year.  Since Lamar can't rely on student fees like Texas State and UTSA to explode the budget it will take a little more time and planning but it can be done.  I still believe that Simmons and Tubbs have planned on Lamar going FBS since day one so we just have to show some patience.
 8.
I believe the BMT Enterprise addressed how many were on scholarship on the football team after the recent Feb signing period and stated a couple more could be added in a recent article. I just can't find it. I'm sure coachacola or one of those guys knows the correct answer or will be able to find the article.
Here's the article:
Lamar played last season, its first since 1989, with 56 players on either full or partial athletic scholarship. That number now stands at 68 when factoring in the addition of seven college transfers signed in December, the addition of six players signed today and the subtraction of one scholarship player lost to graduation.
[Hidden Content] Lamar never planned on playing a FBS team in their 2nd year.  TCU is desperate for an opponent so Lamar tried to work a deal but things didn't quite work out.  Not sure why everyone's making a big deal about this because it would have been a blowout.  In exchange for losing out on a few $100K they don't get embarrassed, that doesn't seem like a bad tradeoff.
 9. Why would an anonymous coach at Lamar call the WAC offices about this when Dr. Simmons would the person to talk to?  This sounds like a BS answer to help quell at the rumors.  I think Benson is waiting on Lamar to decide if and when they can join the WAC and then determine if Lamar is invited to join.  Like others have mentioned, it'll take a serious commitment if they join the WAC so LU better have their ducks in a row.
 10. I think Roc's fate is pretty much sealed now.  The SLC is extra terrible this year and Lamar may miss the SLC tourney for the third straight year.
 11.

I'm beginning to get worn down by all these rumors and "inside" sources.  One day it's a "definite yes" that Lamar will join the WAC, the next it's "no way!".  Then it's rumored the invite will be in April, no, next week, no wait, in 30 to 60 days.  I'm ready for Dr. Simmons to say yes or no already.
Relax, you will soon see Larry B. Scott photo on every sports web page soon.
I had to google Larry B. Scott to get it....his face has been popping up lately on a lot of message boards.  :D
 12. Looks like the NCAA nixed the LU-TCU game:
Thanks to Texas Tech backing out on a game at TCU for the second consecutive year, and the Mountain West Conference recently shifting TCU’s scheduled home game against Boise State to Boise, the Horned Frogs are in a near panic over trying to find two home games at a late date.  Lamar had high hopes of filling  one of the slots in what would have been  a “money game” for the Cardinals. The NCAA, however, delivered a puzzling ruling that Lamar didn’t have enough players on scholarship after two years to count as a legitimate game for TCU. What baffles LU coach Ray Woodard is that Georgia State had the same number of players on scholarship (57) after two years as Lamar and is being allowed to count on Houston’s 2011 schedule
[Hidden Content]

 14. The money game with TCU is out, so they'll pay South Dakota $100K to get out of that game for a 6th home game that will net Lamar a few extra $100K and an easy win?  Are the applying the "Roc" school of scheduling to football?  Home games are good in general, but if this is true it then it sounds like they are more concerned with the bottom line than putting together a competitive schedule. If that's true then they are conceding that they won't be playing for an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs.  But if Lamar accepts and invite to the WAC in the coming months then they'll be ineligible for the FCS playoffs anyways.
 15. New day, new rumor:  Someone on katfans.com says he has a buddy that works for the NCAA and was told that the WAC will officially announce two new teams on Monday. LAZEEK, you're the man with the inside info.  Any truth to this? Also, on another thread on katfans.com someone says that both Lamar and SHSU will be invited to join the WAC and both will accept.

One thing that concerns me is that if Lamar joins the WAC (I'm doubting that too since it seemed like Ford to LU was a done deal) then that will really cut down on the FBS transfers.  Can Woodard sign the 3-star HS and JUCO players every year?
Coach do you say that with sarcasm or do you have some info we don't know?
Sarcasm.  I'm still hopeful Lamar joins the WAC but I have my doubts.
 17.
The JUCO transfers will most likely stay.........if they leave they are DONE with basketball as they wont be able to transfer anywhere else except for a D2 School!!!!
I bet BCG could put together a good season next year with all these JUCO players.  It will also give him a year to recruit in own players for the big leap to the WAC.  (I also can't wait to see LeFrederick Ford in a LU uniform next year!  ;D)
 18. Is this WAC move a "sure thing" like LeFrederick Ford signing with Lamar?  :D

 20. Roc can only recruit JUCO talent.  If you count the 2 or 3 years he was recruiting for Tubbs before being named head coach, what HS talent has he brought in?  Roc needed to bring in Memphis level talent to overcome his coaching disability.  You bring in a bunch of JUCO players to win instantly and Roc can't even do that!
 21. He's 6-5, 345 lbs.  Originally signed with USC.  Played at Navarro and had given a verbal to UH.  3 star player, big pickup for Lamar! (tip of the hat to bigredinsider.com) [Hidden Content]
 22.
not DPG.   Transfer from a Big 12(one of the bad teams).
Like UT?  ;D
 23. I've been scanning some of the Texas A&M message boards and it seems as though all the FBS schools backed away from him.  It was even suggested that A&M was backing down from their offer.  But  I hope he does well at SFA.
 24. He's a tight end but not much info on him.  Was anybody else recruiting him? [Hidden Content]
