4.
Word of warning to bh89-2.... If you are enjoying a hot dog during the Eagles first district game (probably topped off with Grey Poupon) I hope you have a large amount of Pepcid AC, because I sense a serious dose of heart burn as reality once again hits the Hill. Need I remind you of Barbers Hill record against Dayton since moving up to 4A.... As for Crosby, when they play Dayton it will be a war.... Only time will tell who the winner of that game will be, if Dayton gets through their pre-district schedule healthy, it won't be good news for any team in 19-4A.
That hot dog, heart burn or not, is going to taste great knowing someone from Dayton had to buy it.   ;) ;) I swear, you Dayton folks are reminding me more and more of West Orange Stark.  All they got to talk about is historical issues.  What is most impressive is how everytime another team beats them they praise the other team as if they have accomplished something great and are a very tough team, al of a sudden. Until after Crosby spanked you, they sucked by most Dayton fans account.  Same way WOS bashed Kirbyville for so many years, until Kirbyville beat them.  BH should have spanked you, had it not been for very poor coaching.  When are you going to learn I am never wrong?  Bet your bank account or gamble your pig: Crosby BH Dayton GCM/Lee By the way, Barbers Hill has a new auction site where they sell outdated or surplus items.  Pass it along to your football team they can pick up a laptop for about $60 or so.  Hate for someone to get in trouble over laptops again.   ;D ;D   Got to love a little pre-season smack!

Running the option doesnt sound too appealing to me for a spread QB.
He's not going anywhere and is looking very good at the QB spot. Once he improves his foot work, he is going to be a very good QB.  He will likely be a Div-1 talent.  He has the size and arm, just needs to clean up in a few areas. BH has some size on the line this year and the whole run game is based on mis-direction.  Liberty Hill ran a similiar style offence very effectivly with smaller and slower talent.  If you don't turn the ball over and you run theball effectively, what does it matter if the other team runs the spread or not?  You must have possession of the ball to score, right?  As for Dayton winning District, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.  Crosby is the team to beat.
Crosby beats Dayton for the first time in a decade and all of the sudden they are the team to beat?  Give me a break.  There's a better chance that BH doesn't make the playoffs.  "BH has some size on the line this year and the whole run game is based on mis-direction"   - Well if you've got size AND you're using mis direction we shouldn't even show up.  I hope Coach Stewart has heard of this mis direction thing you speak of.  There's been a lot of teams that run an offense similar to BH's that have been sent home with stat lines that read 42 carries for 67 yards against Dayton.  " Liberty Hill ran a similiar style offence very effectivly with smaller and slower talent." - first of all offense is spelled with an s and not a c.  Secondly Liberty Hill did run a similar offense with "smaller and slower talent"  than BH. NEWSFLASH they were also playing smaller and slower talent.  That "offence" is going to get abused by a team like Dayton. "If you don't turn the ball over and you run the ball effectively"  -  Those are big ifs, but thanks for stating the obvious.  You should start a whole series of obvious observations.  Something like, the team that scores the most points wins.  But in relation to your statement, I could also say that if you turn the ball over or go 3 and out a time or two Dayton is up 28-0. Then you're playing come from behind with an offense that isn't designed to score quickly. "what does it matter if the other team runs the spread or not?" - It will matter because when you get behind a team like Dayton that can score in bunches, your ball control offense won't be able to bring you back, but maybe BH will be that one team that won't "turn the ball over and run the ball effectively" against Dayton.
So what your really saying is you are a Dayton fan......... ;D ;D  Man someone needs to get back down in the river bottom and run his throw-lines...... ;D ;D  Bet ya a hot dog Crosby beats Dayton and Dayton ends up in thrid place this year.

Newton's head coach Curtis Barbay not only competes with schools his size but competes with bigger schools every year. 3. PN-G's head coach Brandon Faircloth 10-0 regular season in his first year at head coach puts him in my top 3. 4. Jasper's head coach Mike Bickham beats Kirbyville, WO-S, and makes the playoffs with a team in a rebuilding stage in his first year at head coach in Jasper. 5. WO-S head coach Dan Hooks his numbers dont lie and every year his team is picked to win district.
That's a good list for me.  Can't believe Don Price is not on anyone's list?  ;D ;D

 12.
Mabe an "All State of Mind". BH Eagles show off new offense By Dave Rogers The Baytown Sun Published May 22, 2010 MONT BELVIEU – The Ronnie Gage era of Barbers Hill football kicked off with something old, something new, something borrowed and a lot of blue Friday night. And no one went home a loser as the first spring “game” in school history ended in a 7-7 tie between the Blue and White teams. The Eagles’ top players were divided fairly evenly into two teams and they scrimmaged for nearly an hour, running 45 plays combined. “I thought we did some good things and the kids enjoyed themselves,” said Gage, a two-time state championship coach who is returning to high school coaching after four years on the NCAA Division III level. “For the short period of time we had (practicing since April 30), the kids did a decent job. We got some things accomplished.” The night began with Preston Townley, a tall sophomore-to-be, hooking up with junior Wade Duke, a star on last year’s 5-6 team, for a 32-yard gain. Nothing new in a pass, but Townley definitely qualifies. He and Andrew McMillan, a sophomore who played running back until a midseason injury last year, started at quarterback for the Blue and White teams, respectively. “We’ve been working with (Townley) and Andrew all spring,” Gage said. “They both have strengths and weaknesses. We just have to keep working on it.” Townley completed 4 of 9 passes for 112 yards. McMillan passed just four times, completing two for seven yards. But he ran four times for 19 yards, a couple of times making an option flip. One of which was dropped by a running back, preventing what looked like a good gain. That’s something new at Barbers Hill, where Gage is bringing back option football via the Flexbone offense he used in leading Lewisville to state championships in 1993 and 1996. “It’s going to take some time to get the whole offense in,” the coach said of the offensive switch from the spread attack favored by his predecessor. While the Blue team gained just 27 rushing yards on 12 carries (and five first downs on its 139 total yards), the White team rushed 20 times for 88 yards (gaining six first downs and 95 total yards), with Clay McDonald bursting for a 35-yard draw play gain to finish with a game-high 47 yards on four totes. And the White team suffered a 10-yard loss on a high shotgun snap that ended with both McMillan and the new head coach getting knocked off their feet by a hard rushing Colton Hackfield. Stuart Hamlin of the Blue led both teams with two catches for 43 yards. The Blue team scored first, with Hank Dutton running in from five yards out one play after Townley hit Kody Thompson for a 37-yard gain on fourth-and-eight. Thompson added the PAT. The White team answered with a 12-play, 70-yard drive that included a fourth-and-three completion from McMillan to Richie Pearson and McDonald’s gut-busting draw. McMillan rolled right on a play-action pass and found Cole Sexton for a one-yard TD. McMillan then booted the extra-point. Gage was encouraged by what he saw from his linemen. “We’ve got some young guys that are going to be good,” he said, mentioning Reggie Rodriguez and Jeremy Neff, “once we get them all on the same side. “Our defensive line is still a work in progress. We have to find people to step up and play, but Hackfield and DeSean Carey and some of those guys looked pretty good.” Summer two-a-days for Barbers Hill begin Aug. 9. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All-State is All-State.....  ;D I say BH wins district 3 of the next 4 years.

In their capacity as AD, they have the ability to hire/fire other head coaches within their program. My questions are: To what extent do they hold themselves accountable as a head coach? Should the positions be seperate? (Not taking school finances into consideration)
So...are you saying RUPP is on the bubble there now finishing 4th versus 1st ALREADY in that new school???  I know he had plenty of high expectations.  Is Coach Boyd ready to exercise his freedom and right over there?
Not at all. Is this what your Baytown Buddies are telling you?
I have a few buddies from Baytown who work at our facility here, but they haven't thought about that one, even though it might be good talk.  Was hoping you were giving us a little something to talk about;0
Nope. The Athletics Department at GCM is in good standing after 2 years. Most of the teams, boys and girls, qualified for the playoffs. Basketball is one of the few that did not. They will be replacing Boys Basketball Head Coach Jeff Keener who left for Friendswood and Girls Soccer Head Coach Alyson Ankrom who is electing to stay home with her newborn son. My initial questions were aimed at the "reassigning" of the Barbers Hill Girls Head Basketball Coach. I understand there were other "issues" involved. I just wonder if in 3 years, if Coach Gage has been as successful as Coach Chancelor, if he would evaluate HIS performance based on the same criteria? I would bet that he would not.
I am not sure how this "issue" (whatever that is) has to do with the title of the thread.  What's your beef with the reassignment?  I assumed Coach Chancelor was doing well based on wins and beause of his family experience was most likely qualified.  I assume there are those trying to make the case a board member is trying to get Penny Hall back as head coach, not sure.  It is no secret her and Price did not see eye to eye, however I can't fault her for that.  ;)  There is also rumors of some wrong doing on her part, which may or may not be true.  Seems like a lot of speculation to me. I say look forward and do what's best for the kids.  I already hear a lot of positive things about Gage and what he is doing that the previous staff did not, all of which is geared towards helping the kids.

 16.
That Vidor game was an emotional roller coaster, no doubt...  But I have to agree with D3zii with those 'no quit Jags' vs a very good angleton team... Also, It was a cold day in 2002 when both Central and Ozen lost in the first round of the playoffs to those two Conroe Schools, Oakridge and Caney Creek.  Special memories were in 2003 Playing Pflugerville Conaly in the second round.  We were down the whole game.  Great defensive striggle...  Then we marched down the field about 80 yards on 3 pass plays for the game winning drive. Honorable mention: Vs. Dayton 2006 Blocked FG vs PN-G 2009 Blocked FG Vs. Memorial 2009 Red zone 4 down defensive stand vs. Vidor 2006 infamous phantom score board FINALLY, Ozen vs PN-G also known as 'the game with the FG' 2003 Put Central in the playoffs...
Central has a football team?  ;D ;D ;D  I have to say watching WOS get pounded by Wimberly in Katy.  Wimberly had a running back named Buse (something like that) who was a beast.  he also played middle linebacker and was equally as good there. BH beating West Columbia is another good one.  Mason Fischer caught a ball (not sure how to this day) in the endzone to win with time expiring.
 17. When you look at the college commits, sure seems like we are putting a 2nd tier group on the field.  I guess there is no advantage to getting hurt if you have commited to a larger school.  Not knocking the kids, but you have to figure a Blinn kid is not the same caliber as a UT, ATM, Oklahoma, etc..... One thing for sure, it's always a very competitive game.
 18. Well we had no takes on this trip, but I went three days in a row.  Great fishing.  Here is just a little teaser.  Better go next time! <a href="[Hidden Content]; target="_blank"><img src="[Hidden Content]; border="0" alt="Free image hosting powered by PostImage.org" /></a>

 24. He's been a BH a long time.  Coach Byrd has been coaching a long time, not just at BH.  Everyone should want to retire healthy.  Had a friend die two days ago before he got that chance.  BH has had success, nothing to hang your head over.  Congrats on retiring and good luck Coach Byrd. Go enjoy somehting like fishing.
