bh89-2 replied to alice's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
East Chambers is hosting their athletic banquet tonight to recognize the accomplishments of the past year. Major Applewhite is the guest speaker. It should make for a nice wrap up for the year.
Maybe Chris Sims will be there too. That poor guy got the shaft by Mac Brown and UT. That's from an ATM fan too! -
The Broncos roster from last year shows 14 juniors returning for their senior year. That's 5 less than the 19 in 2009 and 7 less than the 2008 team. The weight room has been impressive and electric the 5 times I witnessed thus far and w/regional qualify powerlifting and track atheletes of which the latter set the school record all-time in the 4 x100 and 4 x200 relay and exp.soph WR J.Fowler setting the all school record in recieving/tds/yds per catch for a soph. and a starting soph.QB A.Herrera throwing for 1,400 yds.& 60% in the games after the loss to Crosby and 9th grade kicking specialist w/100% accuracy and a longest 44 yd.field goal vs.El Campo & 84 points and a cpl.D1 linemen returning & given the Coaching and work ethic along w/14 straight playoff appearances the young speedy Broncos look to continue the tradition w/a combination of exp.skilled players w/deep playoff exp.+ underclassmen that were combined 17-3(JV/Fresh)last year.Certainly the 4 tuff pre-dist.sch.will get em ready for their turn @ Dayton. The Crosby/Dayton game will be 1 of the most anticipated games in the dist.Folks I know from Crosby are excited about their returning team as well so mark your calendars.
Not too shabby for a 3rd place team in 2010. ;) ;) Got to take Crosby out for 2nd.
If BH sophs are as good as some have said, they should be a force to wreckin with from either this season on (till they graduate) or the following season. Should be pretty interesting!!!!
I agree. This is the start of a good 3-4 years. Sure hope our stud freshman QB stays in town. There are some really god players the next several years (big and fast kids). Should be interesting.
Somebody said they're talking about making the water in the Trinity River Part Purple, black and gold, with a touch of green and yellow. Since we own 19-4A ;D
Just pulled my fancy BH color-wheel out and when you mix those colors you pretty much get poop-brown........ ;) ;) ;D Look at it this way, the natural flow will carry you to Anahuac when most of your colors will fit right in. ;D -

I'll let you be the judge.
It means next year 19-4A will be ahead in most all stats......... ;D ;D -
A Parent could have coached this team to 50/50 baseball. There is and has been alot of talented players in the Barbers Hill School District.I watched some of the games and did not see where we were over matched talent wise in any of those games.I did sense some games we were out coached .
How many years could we have said that! C'mon eagle 07 and bh88. You guys should have gone much further with some proper training. There is no fall program, well ok until next year maybe. OK The fact is we have never had one, so why would anyone think they even know how to run one. We need someone like J Krugg in here now!!!!! What are we gonna do, sit and wait another year till he retires so he can tell his classes that he really doesn't care. Come on Coach Gage over haul it all! We are cheating the upcoming players. We have some good kids that got some experience this year, now we need someone to show them how to win and win past regional. The talent is there if it will only be developed! Just imo over the past ten years.
Ok..first off I love your enthusiam. Fact: The '07 team made it to the Regional semis...beat by a very strong Montgomery team w/ 2 very good pitchers( one is in pro ball, the other @ SHSU ). Lost 2-0 and 4-2...that's baseball. The '08 team....w/ all 4 pitchers back plus jr.Jay Burditt who's pitching in college now( that's 5 future college pitchers) lost for reasons other than coaching...you can start w/ players not taking care of their grades and others not taking care of their arms. I'm not the biggest Gil Stabaum or Jackie Byrd fan by any stretch of the imagination........but to pin the '07 and '08 shortcomings (if you want to call it that...IMO '07 was not a shortcoming) on the coaches is...just incorrect. Now years other than '07 & '08 you are on your own. ;) As far as this year goes or went... very young team and again players or player not taking care of business. JMHO.
07 - Your right on here, plus these two comments:

The series against Montgomery we had a wind blowing in the park of about 20-25 mph. BH had a lot of long balls die at the fence in this series. No wind and we would have had a far different outcome. That is also baseball.

As for the arm, most people recall there being as many scouts as fans out to see R.H. pitch. Poor kid was run out there so many times for the scouts he had no arm by the time playoffs got here. Late in the season he pitched against Huffman and just did not have his good stuff. It was a shame for the team because he was VERY good as a # 1 and had two very good pitchers behind him (you may even know one of those...LOL).

Just wondering how is Huffman considered Setx and Crosby isn't ?
Your gonna learn....just hang around a bit. If your not from East of the Trinity you have to be in the top 1 or 2 spots and beat some of them to even be recognized. That's OK, after this weekend their list will dwindle to maybe 1 team and they will all be talking football anyways. -
