bh89-2  I remember him I think his name was Keneth Peoples  anyone know what happened to him  Dayton has had a pile of players, they never seam to pan out once they leave dayton though, not sure why. i work with several people from Dayton and they are all quality?
That kid was FAST!  I swear he could stand up and tell the defense, "I am going to run around the right" and you might as well just add 6.  You were not going to catch that kid, no matter what.
 2.
Leggett only pitched the last inning, he got brought in with runners in scoring postion and no outs.  He was able to record one out before Dayton won on a hit.  I think he should be fine to throw on Thursday, at a max he threw 25 pitches.    That was a big loss, BH must have had 17 hits.  Mitchell had 3, Bonnin had 4, Lyday had 2, Meyers 2, Thompson 2 and a few others had 1.   Still leaving too many runners on base.  Of course Dayton was hitting everything that was thrown in the 7th, hats off to them, they were pounding the ball.    Long not being able to go has hurt, hopefully he will recover and be able to go the 2nd half of district.    I believe we have out hit every team we have played, I know we only gave up 5 hits vs. GP and KWP may have had more hits than us, but that is it. We have to stop LOB.  I think this is going to be a tough game for both sides.
Too bad we can't borrow a few old bats/catchers (Cambell and McWilliams) for a few games.......LOL  Runners in position those were pretty sure bets.
 3.

Hey GCM Pats, what happened?  GCM have a bad game or is GP that much better?  I figured with Butler going it would be close game.
Maybe it was those 165 pitches he threw last game.  ??? ??? Just now saw the earlier post.;
Boy we at BH know all about throwing too much.  We watched Ross Hales throw his arm nearly off his senior year so scouts could see him.  By playoffs he had nothing to offer.  Not a good approach if your playing as a team.
 4.
i believe this thread has me completely confused.  ??? ???
Me too!  Loss is a loss, i guess.

 7.
Anthony Byerly of Newton and "Ironman" Mike Armstrong of Barbers Hill
That kid from Newton was good.  Dayton had a kid named "Peoples" (I think) that was fast.  Would have been the 80's If I recall correctly.  He was a TD waiting to happen every time he touched be ball.
 8. You have had a BH guy coaching football for 900 years, might as well go after a former BH guy for AD.  I hear Price is available.  ;)  Coop figure you would like that one.  ;D

(it's likely) How about beating dayton once a decade like crosby? It sounds like the guy will be able to install a good program, I'm curious to see how long he has before the complaints start rolling down the hill.
EXCELLENT QUESTION! With a good group of athletes currently in 9th grade next year looks to be the weakest Eagle team in the next three seasons (the over all talent level of the athletes in 7th, 8th and 9th or better than what they have in 10th and 11th). My guess.... The new coach better win a playoff game by the time the 9th graders graduate (I put the probability of that at over 50% ) or he will be shown the road.  Curious at what the Eagle football fans think of this.
What would make you think that he would have that long????? :-[ The GREAT NEWS is we have a secret weapon starting next season. Dayton fans will hate it but we had to get competitive. ;D ;D
There you go, splilling the beans.  Not everyone knows we now have a football coach......  ;D ;D

 14. YES, we finally have a bi-week at the end of the season.  Sure will be nice to have that week off should we be a little banged up after being shot at in Baytown 2 times.  ;D ;D
 15.
ok we have more coming back than you think. Forrest Tyler will probably play RB (he did his sophmore year) and we have a 6ft 5' WR coming back according to the Roster kid named Ashton Martin. WR's on Varsity who are returning Ashton Martin Forrest Tyler Jacoby Scott MJ MAthis We do have only 2 Varsity linemen coming back DEFENSE LOSES THESE PLAYERS All but 1 LB i believe OUR D Line rotations and 1 DB but we have alot of kids who are gonna be ready to play. If everyone remembers we weren't supposed to be great last year.
Crosby has one big and tall receiver this past year, but he was about as lazy as I have ever seen play.  Kids would not block or run a rout for anything.  When they did throw the ball to him, he normally dropped it.  Dang shame too, the kid looked like a stud receiver, until he actually left the line of scrimmage.

 17.
Jody, will BH handle Lee? :D
I don't think there is a team in this district that can say without a doubt they are the dominate team.  On any given Friday there are at least 5 teams who could win or lose against any of the other 4.  Dayton has respect for their past results, but they are not a dominate team in district and that was proven last year.  As you saw last year with Crosby beating Dayton and GCM winning against BH in the mud-bowl, it's anyone's district.  Lee is just another team we will have to deal with, but they are no better than anyone else.  This season will come down to who makes the most mistakes, not who is the most athletically able, that's a close enough match you can just flip a coin.  I do think because BH played a lot of yound kids the last year, we have a good core of experienced players returning this and next year.  We normally don't have the issues described by panameyer, so asyou know, consistency builds the team.  Add a new and proven head coach and you have the recipe for good things to come.  Now, keeping with tradition BH is gonna kick the every living s&*t out of Lee.  ;D ;D      Better?

Don't worry about the parent/ coach relationships. We have plenty of underclassmen with parents who feel like tey own the new guy. It will be fun to watch. I'm still a little worried about the defense as well. Hopefully BH will continue to play smash mouth and the DB's will be taught how to defend and look for the ball. Over the past 5 years I have seen a ton of completed passes that almost hit our DB's in the back of the head. ;D
Hey, Hey....... 19. This one of for you GCMPATS......  ;D ;D Lee coaches expect no easies in 4A By Nathan Hague The Baytown Sun Published February 5, 2010 Does dropping to Class 4A mean Lee High School will become a powerhouse again? While some of the school’s sports coaches say the competition may get a little easier than it’s been recently in 5A, but no one expects it to get a lot easier because there aren’t a lot of easies in District 19-4A. “There are some good teams in that district,” girls basketball coach Terry Gray said. “It’s going to be tough going to an eight-team district where we add four more district games. “Some people think moving to 4A will make it easier but I don’t think that’s a good way to look at it. Whether it’s 2A, 4A or 5A, everybody wants to win.” Gray said he looks forward to developing a new rivalry with Goose Creek Memorial. The Lady Ganders are already somewhat familiar with some of the teams in their new district. “Four of the teams are teams we’ve played against in tournaments,” Gray said. “We’ve got to work to get better at what we do.” Even though Lee High School will remain a 5A school for the remainder of this school year, coaches of spring sports are preparing their players for this year while looking down the road to next year as well. “We’re going to attend a meet at Barbers Hill to show the kids what it’s going to be like next year,” girls track coach Shalesha Lowe said. “We’re made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores right now so it should be a smooth process. It will be nice for them to get a good feel for what it’s going to be like. “The playing field should be evened out a lot more, so I think it will be good for us.” Boys track coach Charles Southall thinks it will be easier for his kids to compete. “There are so many kids in 5A,” he said. “It’s so hard to keep up when some schools outnumber you 3-1, and that’s just a benefit of being a big school. “This will help us to compete on our own level a little bit more.” Baseball coach David Hackney also welcomes the change to 4A. “Are you kidding me?” he said. “It will definitely be a lot less traveling. We’re talking about Barbers Hill, Crosby and C.E. King. Dayton is a good location too, and of course, we’ll play here in town against Goose Creek (Memorial). We love it.” Boys basketball coach Trent Manuel believes it will be a good change considering the enrollment numbers, but it will take time to adjust. “It will be tough no matter what,” Manuel said.“ We’ll have some real competitive games. It’ll be quite a different challenge.” Manuel said he has tried to prepare his team for the change this year by playing teams who will be in Lee’s district next year. “We played Barbers Hill, Goose Creek Memorial, Crosby and we went to the Barbers Hill tournament and saw C.E King,” he said. “We scheduled those games so that we could have an idea of what the teams are like.” Lee head football coach Marvin Sedberry welcomes the move to 4A. “Everybody is excited about us going down to 4A, but it’s still going to be a great challenge competing against schools who either just hired a big-name coach or have big traditions. I feel like our district is still going to be a good district with good competition. It’s going to be fun.” Lee high school will replace Kingwood Park in District 19-4A.

I was in one of our local restaurants, and over heard two guys talking about how great our offense was going to be next year. I'm glad everyone is pumped up, so am I, but I can't figure out how we are going to run the wishbone, when we don't have any real running backs? I just don't see any big, fast, powerful running backs to make the wishbone successful. Plus don't we need three or four of them? Then where do we get a option QB? Does anyone know any of these answers? I'm excited, but a little nervous also.
I have seen small backs, with small O-Lines run it effectively.  If you have good fundamentals and block well, the formation allows for the defense to have one guy or more out of place and creates a one-on-one in open space with the lead runner.  More than size, speed and athletic ability can help.  Not saying a Clay McWilliams blocking out of the backfrield would not be nice, but you can run it effectively without size.  Liberty Hill ran a version of it, they called it the "Wing-Tee" and they did very well.  They were not a big team at all, just ask Jasper who played them the year Jasper went to State.
Liberty Hill runs the Slot-T, not the Wing T. They are two different things, and both are far different from the Wishbone.
I have a 4-year old DVD that was filmed by the coaching staff and edited by the Team Mom's husband and the DVD is titled, Wing-T offense.  I realize it's not the wishbone, but the similarity I was trying to make is the 3 back set.  Nothing more than that.
