I'm not concerned as much about our defense, as I am our offense. I was in one of our local restaurants, and over heard two guys talking about how great our offense was going to be next year. I'm glad everyone is pumped up, so am I, but I can't figure out how we are going to run the wishbone, when we don't have any real running backs? I just don't see any big, fast, powerful running backs to make the wishbone successful. Plus don't we need three or four of them? Then where do we get a option QB? Does anyone know any of these answers? I'm excited, but a little nervous also.
I have seen small backs, with small O-Lines run it effectively. If you have good fundamentals and block well, the formation allows for the defense to have one guy or more out of place and creates a one-on-one in open space with the lead runner. More than size, speed and athletic ability can help. Not saying a Clay McWilliams blocking out of the backfrield would not be nice, but you can run it effectively without size. Liberty Hill ran a version of it, they called it the "Wing-Tee" and they did very well. They were not a big team at all, just ask Jasper who played them the year Jasper went to State. -
Any guesses as to what BH's record vs Dayton will be in the years to come? I will go ahead and predict BH will go 2 - 8 against Dayton for the next decade. I know, I'm baiting the hook here, but this lovefest makes me want to puke in my mouth.
First we have to see if they will even play each other. For conversation, let's say they do, in that case I say they split. Had BH not put their defensive head in their tail-end this year Dayton would have been beat by BH. Dayton's weakness this year was against the pass, so will be interesting to see how a mis-directed running attack might fair. Dayton always has speed. -

Very compelling man, Coach Gage. Congrats to Dr. Poole and the School Board for their efforts to bring a class act to BH. Can't wait to see our poor athletically limited football team kick some PNG and Dayton ARSE..... ;) Maybe we should extend the School Board Appreciation month to 6 months for restoring pride and respect to BH? -
Regardless of the reason why you apply, it's got to suck to have your name on that list............. Oh well, guess that comes with the job. By the way.......just so everyone knows - if the Houston Texans Cheerleader's photographer position opens I am applying. ;) ;)
I dont see why BH did not hire BHFAN, he is such the expert at football. What will be the determining factor in your opinion? You have been screaming for playoff success then contradict yourself with that last statement. You talk about Dayton and Crosby having no superstars, well neither does BH. But if you ask any coach in the area, they will tell you that Dayton and Crosby have better athletes. BH has overachieved in the past 10 years. They have beaten some teams with more talent because of hard work by the staff and kids.
Just let it go man........it's a new age at BH. Now if BHFAN does get hired, I want to be the mascot....please....LOL I predict a district championship in 2010, with or without your so called "superstars". -

A story I found on the internet about he and his family. Very sad story and one any parent hopes to not have happen to them. Wednesday, May. 20, 2009 A Good Family’s Waking Nightmare The Lonnquist Notes I teared up a couple of times as I began to write this piece. It’s not often in this business we come across genuinely good people. I mean, really good people. Former Northwest football coach and Lewisville football coach and district athletic director Ronnie Gage is one of those. Throughout the last 18 years, I valued the working relationship I have developed with Gage, also getting to know his wife, Stephanie. I first met Gage in 1991, when I was breaking into the industry and Gage was building the tradition at Lewisville. Today, the Gage family is dealing with a nightmare that will likely not end well. Daughter Jessica is battling an inoperable malignant brain tumor that developed last year. What I have learned is that there is not a lot that can be done for her. Ronnie, Stephanie and the family, and Jessica’s husband and his family have been by Jessica’s side in Dallas almost every day. When I first heard about their tragedy three months ago, I just shook my head. A Web site, www.jessicagage.com, updates how Jessica is holding up in her fight. The latest post was dated April 21, and it discussed how she was not responding to the latest round of chemotherapy that was causing bleeding in her brain. One of the worst experiences a parent can go through is watching a child suffer through a terrible affliction. This is not the natural order of things. I went through this experience two years ago when my neighbor’s 29-year-old daughter lost her battle with MRSA. I am a father of children and when you witness this, it scares you. Like any parent, we envision our children’s lives unfolding as they graduate from high school, attend college, marry and give you grandchildren to spoil. The Gages envisioned this, too. Jessica, who is one of three children, has given them so much. But this evil disease seems to rob you of things. It robs you of smiles, the sense of satisfaction and the sense of completeness. Your faith and your family are your greatest allies. Yet you don’t ever feel like it’s enough to combat it or feel consoled. The hurt is simply a constant. I don’t know Jessica, although I met her a couple of times. But I do remember her hugging her daddy shortly after the Fighting Farmers won the 1993 Class 5A state championship over Aldine MacArthur, 43-37 in one of the greatest state championship games in Texas High School Football History. For those of us who have not been in this position, we can never really know how the Gages are handling this. Ronnie, who is now the head football coach at Austin College in Sherman, and his family are held in such high regard in Texas football. The support they’re getting is extraordinary. There is a guest sign-in page on the Web site that is now in excess of 60 pages. On a whim last week, I called the Austin College athletics department to get word to Ronnie that if he was up to talking, then great. If not, then I would not push it. The day I left word, Ronnie called back and left a voice mail for me. We never talked, but that was fine. Part of me was surprised that Ronnie did call back, in spite of everything. Part of me was not, because that’s the kind of person Ronnie is. If there are five people that you come across in your lifetime that you hope leave a great impression on you, meet Ronnie Gage. You will meet a man who is passionate about football, but even more passionate about his family and his faith. Perhaps this time for the Gage family is a message for all of us to refocus on what counts. There is a metaphorical story about a professor who used rocks, pebbles and sand to illustrate to his class what is important in life. The rocks were the big things, including the family. A rock is a symbol of strength. That’s what the Ronnie Gage family is like. Still, I tear up for them. -
I just didn't want to let the cat out of the bag. The man still has a school he is employed by, but he has been waiting for the opportunity and I hope he gets it. He tried back before the DP era and we know what happened there and we missed out on Brock Fitzhenry who is in the top ten if not top five in Texas Rushing History and now playing for UT playing with the Pattons & Fisher...wonder what would have happened there. Now he has one of the most successfull programs in 3A in the last 5 years. He would be great for the school and he wants to come here not just for the money either. His father played with Dan Hooks way back when and he would love to be the one that takes the Hill to the next level and I believe he is capable of it. He knows BH football tradition wants to be a part of it! I have also heard that the AD and Head Coach are going to be two different positions.
That is not how the job was posted. There is no need for those two salaries in a single high school district.
I am just telling you what I heard you may have a better contact... than a school board member (HEE HEE) but who knows, we will see wont we.
I do not have a "contact". I have seen the job posting. It would make no sense for a small 4-A school district to have those two salaries on the books. It's just not good money management in my opinion. Sheldon ISD does it locally, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. But you are correct, we shall see.
Let me rephrase that statement they are considering making it 2 seperate positions... How's that?
Hence the waste of money. Administrator positions are not cheap. $60-80K at least. Would the high school then have a "Campus AD"? If not, what would the football coach do with all his free time? Teach? You only have 1-2 athletic periods. They are not going to pay him to do nothing.
We saved some money by buying some used computers from some Dayton kids last year, so the budget is good to go....... ;D ;D -
Very true on both parts on the run-thru and the smoke. Did anybody watch the the documentry "The U" very good. They talked about coming out of the smoke in their tunnel how it fired them up. But the point is you can have all the smoke and run throughs you want but when the smoke clears you better have the players to back it up and they did. Another point, as you can see there is people on here that are very passionate about BH and I'm glad to see that. I am very supportive of Coach Price. He coach one of my boys and did a very fine job as well as the assistants coaches. They taught him more than football. But you people need to realize that BH was here before he got here and it will be here long after we are gone. Don't get me wrong, I don't support what they (sup, board members and few select IDIOTS in the community - as they are refered to as "Stakeholders" - I'm still trying to figure that out) did to him but we will move on, I hope so, we had a good thing going with the athletic program. We've all heard the saying "If it aint broke, don't fix it." Am I saying the next guy will do as good as job as Coach Price? I don't know but time will tell, he's going to have to coach his butt off with the type of kids we have here. I've heard and read how we are loaded with athletes for the next couple of years. I'm wondering what games they have been watching or am I missing something. Every game I've been to I haven't seen a dominating player on the field from the 7th grade to the varsity. The next guy that comes in will have to thick skin to put up with the stuff that goes along with the job.
That's it! I am buying you a purple shirt with horse manuer on it and having your trailer towed 13 miles North........ ;D ;D ] -
