The Houston Christian Tournament is loaded with VERY good teams. I wished I could see all the games in this tournament, however some of us have to work. I have no idea who wins this one, but Barbe has got to be one of the favorites. A friend os mine is a private pitching coach for a number of the Flour Mound kids and they can flat throw the rock. West Brook has a very good offense. BH has great pitching depth. That's just a few of the good teams in this one. If you win 1/2 your games in this one you have done something.

Going to be a good year for BH. Once the offense catches up to the pitching, look out. Golden Triangle better not lose site of Bay City. They will be in the mix once playoffs get here, especially if it is a 1-gamer. -

Well seems as with College Ball, Dicky-V can't call these games either.... ;D ;D Way to go BH. Again, did Central ever have a lead in this one? -

Deer Park has a good team this year and WB, as always, was over-rated. -

No doubt, what a great pitching effort. There were more scouts there than Bay City fans. Great job Eagles. -

Dayton vs. Crosby Playoff Predictions?

Nah, just trying to jinx Crosby after they kicked out tails in football. I'll be jinxing Dayton after they whip out tails come next year. -
Dayton vs. Crosby Playoff Predictions?
bh89-2 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Crosby will dominate Dayton. Won't even be close. -
The worse deer sausage I have ever had made was in Mid-County (Nederland I think). Don't recall the name but it was a meat market just down the street from Diver's Den Dive Shop. 2nd worse was last week at Jackson's Deer Proccesing in Crosby,Texas. Best was in Moulton and 2nd best was in El Campo.

Surface temp yesterday was 64F in my privatate lake at work. Caught 6 fish in about an hour and lost 3, one of them a big fish. Found a few very new beds being made and had one about 5lbs that was red on the tail. All fish were over 3 lbs. Rayburn and Toledo should be close to the early spawners. I would expect if the temp stays in the 70's during the day they will move to beds by end of month and into March. Falcon Lake has already started seeing spawning bass. Temp down there last week were 98F for 2 days.

Aggies Win National Championship In Bass Fishing

Thanks for posting this. We sponsored their team this year. Great job!!!!! -
UT is over-rated. They shot 38% or soemthing like that. It's not like they played Memphis.
-
If UT can't shoot any better than they did against IS, ATM wins this one big. UT is one of the most over-rated teams in the country.

HF vs. Barbers Hill Scrimmage Thread
bh89-2 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Since us BH fans don't get to see a lot of the Golden Triangle teams, how do you HF fans, who went to the scrimmage, think BH looked comparitively? I saw LCM play last year at UH, but that is about it after we went to 4A. Bridge City always had a good club when we played them. -
post here please.

HF vs. Barbers Hill Scrimmage Thread

I left top of the 7th and BH was up 13 to 0. The horns had an off night tonight with a lot of dropped balls and the pitching really struggled. BH pitching was very good tonight. A few Pro-Scouts in the stands watching the game. Ross Hales was again lights out, as was Kendall Thamn and Johnathan Kelly. Sorry I missed everyone else. Nice to see some hitting tonight and especially the power shots. #44 took one deep from the right side of the plate that was 360 plus and Jake Ponder spanked one over the right field fence. Next at bat #44 crushes one through the gap from the left side (switch hitter). Good luck Horns this year. Nice to meet you Adminbabe. -

Nederland vs Hamshire Fannett scrimmage
bh89-2 replied to NeDeRlAnD b-DoG fAn's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
At least HF has the tough one out of the way in their scrimmages. Looking at the opponents next in line for scrimmages are Feb. 8 (Barbers Hill) (Away) 5:00 PM Feb. 12 (Port Neches Groves) (Home) 4:00 PM Feb. 16 (Little Cypress Mauriceville) (Away) 12:00 PM Might be a fight at the Bat Rack for these pansies Yes, that is one very weak schedule...... :o They should get all the quality pitching they need tonight. -
Because this is a home game for A&M I had to go with my Aggies. Not to mention A&M has owned UT is football and basketball the last few years. I know, they tend to split the basketball season, but since it was a home game, i had to go with the ags, and they didn't let me down.

Last night was the first match-up for barbers Hill and Bay City. BH wins 7-5. Both teams looked good. The format for BH was a 30 pitch count for all the pitchers they could get in. Two MLB scouts on hand to see the first 4 BH pitchers. Seemed to be a lot of interest in Thamn and Hales. Bay City looked very good and improved over last year. As always they have one speed demon on the team and he can be a difference in the game. BH pithing looked strong and their were some bright spots in the Sophmore ranks. Pitching Kendall Thamn threw 2 and a 3rd innings and only allowed one infield blooper hit. Looked very good and has picked up a little on the fast ball. Off-spead stuff looked good as well. Fast ball running 87-89. Off-speed aout 73-74. Kendall crushed a few pitches as well, so hope we see more of that this year. Hunter Silva up next for BH and threw a few more than 30 pitches. Hunter had great speed on his fast ball (89-90), but seemed to rely on it a bit much. Fast ball seemed to hang a bit over the plate and he allowed a few hits and runs. If he mixes his pitches and keeps the fastball low, he is going to be hard to hit. Off spead pitches were good when he threw them. Hunter has and will be effective in 08. Johnathan Kelley was next up for BH and after about an inning he setteled in nicely. Johnathan's fast ball was 85-87 and had pretty good off speed stuff. Johnathan located his pitches well and pitched out of trouble a few times. Ross Hales. Well, what do you say other than he can flat pitch. Ross worked fast and located all his pitches very well. Ross seems to have improved his off speed stuff and threw a nasty curve ball, much like that of former Huffma's Listi, except better. Ross fast ball was clocking between 89 and 90 consistently and very seldome was it not down in the zone. The rain started getting heavy at this point so we left early and did not see the last pitcher. Offense Offensively for BH it was easy to see this was the first game. The team scored when needed, but timing and bat speed for some of the proven power hiters was a little off tonight. There were a few sophmores in the line-up that did very weel and hit the ball. One sophmore #44 (sorry don't know name) is a beast. The kid is a switch hitter and has to be 6-4 and 250. They say he can crush a ball and I beleive it. Looking forward to watching him this year. Defense The team overall looked like they have not missed a beat. I can only remember one or two errors of the night and a lot of great plays. Not too bad considering the field was a little rough. The short stop turned a double play with a guy on 3rd to end the inning, which was nice to see. A few really good catches in the outfield too.
