As long as WOS is in 3A they will never win a state title. They are a better than average team, but will always over-rated. 2008 will be no different, except within the next 2 years they will lose district to Jasper.
-
This looks pretty good to me. Having said that, the UIL could never do something this logical.
-
Huffman going to 3-A and Baytown Lee will likely stay 5-A. Dick Olin (Lee) is trying hard to stay 5-A and he usually gets what he wants. I say Dayton is back to old district.

They were Friday..... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Listen to this very carefully: Traffic on HWY 290 and on Barker Cypress SUCKS on Friday. Take Beltway 8 around to 290 and stay away from 610. Even at that, plan on an extra hour more than what you think you need. We spent 45 minutes from 290 and Barker Cypress to the football field (about 4-5 miles). Also, park in the first entrance before the football field. It is a good walk, but when you leave it is easier to get out. Most people will leave early if the game is not close due to the traffic mess in that area. As for the football field, bring your camera. I have NEVER seen anything like it in any high school and not even most college campuses. VERY VERY nice!!!!!

You can avoid Baytown all together if you want and take the first exit after crossing the Trinity River/Olr River. Here is how: Take first exit off bridge and turn left. Go about 4-5 miles tunr left at 4-way stop (there will be a BBQ stand at the intersection) Go about 6-7 miles and turn Right on Hwy 99 (Mary Dunn Realty will be on left at this turn) Follow Hwy 99 until you dead end onto Old Hwy 146 (about 6-7 miles) Turn left on Hwy 99 and you will follow it over the Fred Hartman Bridge (Ship Channel) Turn Right on Hwy 225 and exit Center Street (about 4 miles) Turn left on Center street Turn right on San Augustine Football parking down on left (park by a side road, man it's hard getting out of that parking lot).

This is a terrible venue. Not nearly enough room and the turf is nothing like Lumberton has played on yet. If the wind is blowing get ready, the darn place is like a wind tunnel. IMOP

LaPort would not hold the Lumberton fans and there is not enough parking. You DON NOT want to go there.

Cars lined up from I-10 and every school parking lot was full except the new high school. Incredible!!!! PN-G fans better watch out if you keep bringing it like that. Good luck this week. -
ETBU, which side you going to be sitting on? BHFAn and I will be there, might even bail early and head for Dickinson.

Dickinson vs. Lamar Consolidated Predictions
bh89-2 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If you can stop LC's running back Jaquizz, you can beat LC. They have a good passing game, but a lot of their game is based on the RB setting up and participating in the pass. Having watched BH be on the south end of LC's beat down before, I am hoping the Gators pull it out. Dickinson spanked LaMarque and was only beat by 3 points against Texas City. Dickinson has one heck of a defense, only allowing 14.2 points per game against a VERY good list of teams (Texas City, Friendswood, Brazosport, LaMarque & Crosby). GO GATORS!!!!!!! Former Home of Heisman Trophy Winner Andre Ware: Upon leaving Dickinson High School, Andre Ware played at the University of Houston, where he was the first black quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy in 1989, along with the Davey O'Brien Award, the latter award given to the most outstanding college quarterback of the year. That year, his junior year, he threw for 4,699 yards, 46 touchdowns, and set 26 NCAA records. Many of the records were thanks to the innovative use of the Run & Shoot offense, which his successor at quarterback, David Klingler also used to great effect. The Cougars ended the season ranked the #14 team in nation by the AP. He then declared for the NFL Draft, foregoing his senior year. -
Texas City by a lot. Bay City is not that good. WOS just have trouble with them because they both try to air things out.
-
I agree. Crosby has some decent talent but not the speed Dayton will bring. I would not be suprised to see a shut-out.

Dickinson vs. Lamar Consolidated Predictions

Three years ago we played Dickinson and as always we beat them. Back then their QB and RB were a freshman and a softmore. I was impressed and said they would do well in a year or two. This is their year and I think they pull one out in a close game. Just a note: Keep an eye out for Brazosport. They snuck in under everyone's radar and kicked some butt. -

Is Dayton capable of winning the State Championship?
bh89-2 replied to bronco4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
One other thing, Dayton has got to control their emotions and not get dumb penalties. Texas City will try to start trouble and Dayton is way too quick to jump right in that boat. Play your game and leave it on the field. -
Is Dayton capable of winning the State Championship?

That # 1 and # 2 team is a beast. If Dayton can beat one of those, my hats off. Being "West of the Trinity", they may have a shot.
