  1. You think that is creepy, you should see me when WOS loses a football game..... ;D ;D ;D Lamar Consolidated has been watching a lot of competition the last week. I hope our coaches are as prepared. ??? ??? Guess that is the benefit of being the bye-team.
  2. See you there. I got the pleasure of whaching Bay City spank the LCM Bears tonight. What a treat. Lamar Consolidated coaches were at the LCM game too.
  3. Not sure what to say about this one other than LCM better have better pitching than showed tonight. LCM threw 3 or 4 pitchers and with the exception of the last pitcher, not much velocity or movement at all from any of them. The last pitcher had a little pop on the ball and did ok, but too little too late. OK defence, but mental mistakes were frequent. Poor outing for the Bears. Bay City played solid fundamental baseball. They bunted players over when needed, ran the bases well, played good defense, hit the ball when they needed too and took avantage of most their opportunities. The pitcher for Bay City was almost strictly a fast ball pitcher and threw for strikes. His velocity was likely 84-85 and he located the ball well. Both teams has 7 hits, and 1 error. Final Score 7 Bay City 3 LCM. After seeing the all mighty Bears, I will take Bay City in 2.
  4. woops, forgot about this one. Headed that way.... 8)
  5. ETBU don't forget us other "weak district" fans over here in BH. We will need those all important updates. I guess we could ask PNG and Vidor folks to go to both our games and send us updates....... ;D ;D ;D
  6. Eagle07, Any idea how to get to Manvel field? Last time I spent any significant time in Manvel there were only cows and crawdead holes.... ;D
  7. I live and was raised on Trinity Bay. PM me for info.
  8. The TC Assistant AD told ETBU and I they had one stud pitcher and a few others that were ok. With Huffman beating PNG (who used to be state ranked) someone figured they would take their shot with best against best. Personally I think all playoff games should be a 3 game series. Anything could happen in a single game and a team that makes it through a series should be the better team. Too much luck involved for a 1-gamer..... :-\
  9. Wow!!!! Went back and read my post and that must have been a quick message - puncuation sucked..... ;D ;D ;D Kind of like fishing here of late.
  10. Woo-hoo! BH get's a little scouting time in.....
  11. ;D ;D ;D ;D I love that segway..... ;D ;D ;D Personally I am hoping New Caney advances and represents our weak district......... ;D ;D ;D BH rooting for ya!!!!!
  12. Man, lots of good games at BH and the Houston area. Wed-Sun hopefully set on my schedule. :o Anyone know anything about Manvel high school field?
  13. LCM should win this one. I hope to eventually see a LCM/BH match up.
  14. How could I forget that.......your right!!!!
  15. I know this is not baseball, but it is very much worth listening too. Very funny [Hidden Content]
  16. Went outapper of Freeport two weeks ago and had 5 limits of very nice snapper (best about 15 lbs) average about 7 lbs. Fishing rock in 80-120 feet and a few rigs. Like others, no ling anywhere. We found a long cable going from a rig to a crew boat and thought we might move off the rig and find a ling or two, but no luck. Had about a 10 foot shark (think it was a spinner) maul a small released snapper right at the boat and just about caused a coronary.......no one saw him coming...... Damn fish came 3 foot out of the water with the fish in his mouth and soaked everyone....pretty cool afterwards, not worth an darn during....... ;D
  17. Oh, trust me, I was there taking an A$% wipping like everyone else. We had about 20 lbs, but that will get you a weight ticket and nothing else on that lake. The bigger fish we were on spawned and moved off beads just days before we fished this tourney. We had a boat load of 2-3 pounders, but nothing larger than 5lbs. The area the two biggest stingers came out of was very windy during pre-fish and we did not fish there but for just a few minutes. That's ok, week after next we are back at it again. May not get to pre-fish due to wife's issues with her pregnancy....may be in Herman for mother's day. If you look at the info on that tournament, you will see that guy weighed 5 fish and none of them were weighd for big bass. 5 big butt fish !!!!!!! I had a stringer like that about 1.5 months ago on the same lake. It's an awesome lake...no doubt.
  18. Former BH player, coach going into Hall By Doyle Barlow Baytown Sun Published May 4, 2007 Pennee Hall has accomplished a lot in her basketball career as a player and coach. Hall, who currently coaches at Livingston, can add another accolade to that list Saturday in Austin when she is inducted into the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. “I received a call in December and was told I was going to be inducted,†Hall said. “It was quite a shock.†It shouldn’t have been. Her numbers at Barbers Hill, first as a player then as a coach, are enough to merit her induction. As a player at Barbers Hill, she led the 1982 and 1983 teams to state championships and scored 3,587 career points. Hall then went on to play at Louisiana Tech for two years then three more at the University of Texas. Then in nine years as head coach at Barbers Hill, Hall guided the Lady Eagles to a 282-50 mark, which included the 1997 Class 3A state championship in addition to a 1993 semifinal appearance. Her teams also won nine consecutive unbeaten district titles and went 102-0 against district opponents. Hall left Barbers Hill to become an assistant at Stephen F. Austin. She departed the Nacogdoches school for Livingston in 2004. In her playing days, Hall was a point guard, a position that helped her transition to coaching. “When you’re a point guard, coaches call you their coach on the floor,†Hall said. “It’s just like football. You’re the quarterback. “But coaching and playing are totally different concepts. I was more in control as a player and as a coach, you just try to give direction. I have had a lot of fun doing both.†Hall said that winning the state championship as a coach at Barbers Hill is her career highlight — to this point. “When you can guide a team and do that it’s the ultimate achievement,†she said. “Only five teams in the state can do that each year.†Hall expects a contingent of around 60 people to be on hand for her induction. Many of those will be family members, but many will also be Mont Belvieu people who have watched her career her whole life. “I grew up there and was raised there and Barbers Hill really likes its sports,†Hall said. “It will always have a special place in my heart. A lot of those people saw me grow up and go through a lot of different things.†Those people can now add Saturday’s induction to that list.
  19. BH handles Vidor in 3 games to advance By Michael Pineda Baytown Sun Published May 6, 2007 Barbers Hill slammed the door on a potential Vidor rally with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the decisive third game of their Class 4A bi-district series, 11-3. The Pirates trailed 5-0 going into the top of the sixth but closed the gap to 5-3, only to see the Eagles score six runs on only one hit as the Vidor defense collapsed. Vidor had forced a third game by rallying from a 4-0 deficit to win 7-5 in the first contest of the day. “I knew we were going to win it,†BH senior catcher Cameron Campbell said. “It didn’t matter if it took one game or two.†Campbell led a revitalized Barbers Hill offense that scored 16 runs on the day. The senior was 4-6 with three home runs and five RBI’s in the two games played. “The bats came alive today and it was good to see,†BH head coach Gil Stalbaum said. “I king of expected it because traditionally we have hit well in the playoffs.†The difference in the third game was the pitching depth of the Eagles. In the final game Hunter Silva took the mound and went the distance, giving up three earned runs and eight hits while striking out five. Silva got torched for all three runs in the sixth inning on four hits but battled through it. Vidor was forced to use three pitchers in the game and all had their struggles. The Pirate defense had been outstanding for most of the series, but committed three errors in the sixth inning as the game slipped away. “This team has been a momentum team whether it be good or bad,†Vidor head coach Kyle Green said. “It’s been like a roller coaster, we go up and down, but that’s baseball.†The first game of the day was a roller coaster for the Pirates as Barbers Hill jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead. Tony Carmona led off with a walk and scored when Derek Hulsey unloaded a shot over the left field wall. With one out in the inning Campbell hit his first home run of the day to make the score 3-0, and a heads-up running play by courtesy runner Jay Burditt on an error made the score 4-0. The Pirates answered with a run in the top of the second off of Barbers Hill starter Kendall Thamm. Thamm had his struggles on the day and they began to show when Taylor Rochibau drew a walk and advanced to second on a single by Brad Croat. A wild pitch moved the runners up a base and a groundout by Jake Guidry scored a run. Thamm’s day came to an end in the fourth inning as the Vidor offense scored six runs. Thamm gave up a single and a double to start the inning. The double by Croat scored Rochibau. With no outs Thamm struck out Guidry on a ball that hit the ground. Rather than go to first with the ball, Campbell tried to pick off Croat who broke for third. Croat reached safely to give Vidor runners on first and second with no outs. “It was the wrong thing to do,†Campbell said. “I saw him going for third and I just thought that I had a chance to get him.†With one out Thamm walked Derik Kilmer in the nine hole, which resulted in Stalbaum bringing in reliever Johnathan Kelley. Kelley logged a strikeout but then allowed three runs on a single, wild pitch and a walk to give Vidor a 5-4 lead. A two –run single by Jay Nixon made the score 7-4. Vidor starter Rochibau settled down after the early Barbers Hill eruption and kept Vidor in the game. The only other blemish on his outing was a solo home run by Campbell in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 7-5. Rochibau went 6 1/3 innings before giving way to Nixon who logged two outs for the save. On the day Rochibau gave up five runs, four of which were earned. The junior gave up five hits and struck out six while walking three. “This team has showed a lot of character and a lot of heart this year,†Green said. “We haven’t lost a day game all year long and we did not lose two in a row.†With the season on the line, Stalbaum turned to Silva. Silva did not have a regular spot in the rotation once district play started but showed little rust. VJ Bunner led off with a single but was doubled up on a line drive by Robichau. Will Fontnow singled and Nixon reached on an error but Silva put the rally to rest with a strikeout. Over the course of the first five innings Silva would only give up one hit. “I was ready to pitch,†Silva said. “I just kept going. I had a defense that would back me up and I knew that.†The offense spotted with Silva with a lead in the bottom half of the inning when Campbell hit his third home run of the day, a two run shot off of Vidor starter Nixon. “After the second or third home run I knew it was going to be a good day,†Campbell said. Nixon would last until the third inning when the Eagles tightened the screws with their hitting. Hulsey and Colby Townley led the inning off with singles. With runners on first and third, Campbell hit a grounder through the gap for a 3-0 lead. A walk given up to Ross Hales ended the day for Nixon as Trae Hester came on in relief. Hester was unable to hold the Eagles off as two more runs scored on wild pitches. With the season on the line Vidor pulled it together and rallied for three runs in the sixth. Croat led off with a double to the gap. With one out in the inning Rochibau doubled Croat in and then came home moments later on a single by Fontnow. A single by Nixon advanced Fontnow to third from where he scored on a fielder’s choice. Silva struck out Hester to end the inning. “Hunter threw extremely well,†Stalbaum said. “He threw a lot of strikes and kept challenging them even when they had their big inning. They are everything we thought they were.†The sixth inning proved to be the high point and the low point of the game for Vidor as the defense and pitching fell apart. Carmona reached on a walk and advanced when Hester threw a Hulsey grounder into left field attempting to make a play on Carmona at second. Townley sacrificed Hulsey to second but an error on the play allowed Carmona to score. Vidor went to the bullpen and brought out Justin Rhodes who walked Campbell and then gave up an RBI double to Hales. Barbers Hill would go on to score three more runs without a hit thanks to two more errors and a walk. With the score 11-3, Silva closed the game out in the seventh by giving up a hit to Chad Kennon, who was stranded at second. “They (Barbers Hill) swing the bats real well, they’re a great team,†Green said. “You have to tip your hat to them. With the pitching they have, they will go far.â€
  20. I voted for LaGrange since there is little to know chance anyone from LaGrange will wonder in here and vote for them....... ;D ;D
  21. If we swing the bats we win in this series......becaue I said so..... ;D Seriously, pitching alone is better for BH and we seem to have the offensive advantage. The combination of Hales and Thamn will roll....... Of course there are those like Silva and others to pick up the slack, if needed. Let's hope for a wind blowing out for Cambell, Husley, and Townley to add to their HR stats.......oh Ponder too........
  22. Has anyone in SETX ever give Vidor credit. Take it as a compliment, they are jeleous. Keep winning and start sticking it in their #@&......GO VIDOR !!! Oh, and that "barking" comment was very funny and completely true...... What a bunch of idiots..........

  24. How do you think these teams match up? LC's record does not stand out (16-12)and their schedule is not all that impressive, but neither is BH's district schedule, with the exception of Huffman and New Caney. I'll have to go with BH on this one due to depth in the pitching rotation and an offense that can score if they get the momentum going their way. Not a lot of info out there about LC, so share if you know.
  25. If it's a 3 game series, it could be interesting to say the least. I know noting about TC, however Huffman is tough in a one gamer.
