* Jasper 3 BC 2 Final/Tuesday
bh89-2 replied to SETXsports Broadcaster's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Should be great competition in a weak, but balanced district..... ;D ;D Just Kidding Folks....... ;D -
Every game I have watched, even the PNG loss, BH substituted players and changed pitchers who were in no trouble at all. The fact it the entire line-up, including pitchers are tearing the cover off the ball. It is fun to watch as a fan of the winning team, but I do often feel sorry for the oposing team. I don't know what else BH Coaches could do other than allowing their team to make errors and take a 3 pitch out without swinging. That will be a cold day before that happens..... This so called "weak district" has a few REALLY GOOD pitchers in it, so there are still some close games to be had for BH. Huffman and Galena Park won't just lay down for BH, they know that all too well.

By the way, thanks for the link to the BH article, but geez $10.00 to read and article......nahhhhh. Just tell us about it for 0.50 cents..... ;D

WOW.....not so sure BC deserved that. A few weeks ago PNG was just an average team in many folk's eyes......not mine.

Sounds like a good game. Congrats Silsbee. BC is very good, maybe even a #2 or 3 in the imeediate area. ;) -

Good Lord man, don't say "Pro Team" on here. Tomorrow they will be describing Silsbee as a "pro Team" that barely scraped by Bridge City. ;D ;D -

*Barbers Hill 13 vs. CE King 3 Final/Friday
bh89-2 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The score may not indicate such, however CE King had a decent team. King had a pretty good offense and played well overall. BH's hitting was just too much for them to deal with. Cudos to Hulsey for another Grand Slam. I think Ponder also had a homer tonight. With the exception of one error, the base running was exceptional. BH rolls in another run-rule game. Can we say # 1 for week 6? Yeah right, not on here. -

bh89-2 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It was meant to indirectly imply the poll is biased towards Bridge City and West Brook. PNG has had to work their tails off to get a little respect and BH has dominated everyone and they still refuse to move them back to the #1 spot, where they deserve to be. Heck BH has rune rule almost everyone they have played and only allowed a few runs in a LOT of games. -
BH lifter qualifies for World Championships By Michael Pineda Baytown Sun Published March 22, 2007 In 2006, Barbers Hill senior Cameron Swart qualified for the Junior Pan Am Games but that proved to be only an appetizer for what 2007 has already offered. Last week Swart placed first overall in the men’s 105 kg and over class at the National Junior Weightlifting Championships in Merrillville, Ind. to earn a spot on the Junior World Team that will compete in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Swart lifted a total of 336 kgs, winning first in the snatch with a lift of 153 kgs and second in the clean and jerk with 183 kgs. “It’s quite an accomplishment,†Swart’s coach Tim Swords said. “He is one of the top four in the nation. You have to have good genes, a good work ethic, coaching and a plan. It just doesn’t happen overnight. I felt like he was going to make it this year.†Swart won his weight class last year at the Junior Nationals but did not crack the top lifters and competed in the Pan-Am games in Columbia. This year Swart will have the chance to compete against the top juniors in the world. “I’ve never been on that side of the world,†Swart said. “It’s real exciting. I’m glad I get to compete against the best in the world; I just don’t know what to expect. I do know there is going to be a lot of good athletes. “I am working on my Olympic weightlifting three times a week. My core and upper body training is two times a week. It has been really intense. I have been training harder than I ever have because this is now my focus.†Swart was all-district first team in football and competes in track and field for Barbers Hill. Next year Swart plans to attend Lee College while competing at the national and international level. “Now he is at the world level,†Swords said. “We are talking about Eastern Europe, China, Turkey and Egypt. To be honest I’m hoping that he will be invited to the Olympic Trials. I’m hoping that he will show continual improvement to the 2012 Olympics which is the goal.†Besides competing in the Junior World Championships, Swart also plans to compete in the American Open next December.

There is 18 inches of vacuum being pulled on Bridge City and West Brook, therefore Jasper is being pulled down a bit. It's a natural occurence that happens withing the Golden Triangle. ;D ;D -
See, explaining yourself wasn't so hard after all. ;D I think it is very easy to boster a team you know more about, which seems to be the case with BC. I am not knocking BC by any means and think this explination is better than arbitrarily ranking them #1 without explaining yourself(s). Yes, fostering conversation is fun and will certainly occurs when you consider the opinionated comments that have been printed. Looks like Jasper is the new team to ride you in Week 5...... ;D On behalf of Larry, Curley and Moe.....we thank you for taking time out from your lunch. ;D
-
Do they make sweet grapes ;D ;D I am not knocking BC or Dishon. Both are very good. In that district you should win 37 straight games. ;D ;D Yes on any givin night, however in a 3-game series BC would not win 2 of 3 against West Brook or BH. Both of whom are a lower ranked team according to SETXsports. Just an opinion....that's all....
-
AMEN.......glad to see someone agrees with me. Critter...I am actually very much a BC fan. They have a great team, but these ranking are more and more off-base each week....no punt intended.... Does not appear strength of schedule, runs for, runs against, pitching depth, defense, or standings have anything to do with them. One great pitcher or one great hitter does not make a team. If you don't have depth in pitching and offense, then your not a #1 - #5. JMHO

OK folks.....if you want a 10lb plus bass, now through late April is the time. Choke Canyon Report 3-15 to 3-18 Everyone in my party of 11 (3 boats and 4 kids) had limits, every day. Everyone caught at least 1 fish over 7 lbs (kid's zebco 33's got a work-out). My best 1-day 5 fish limit was 48 plus pounds (biggest personal limit). In 3 days I had 3 fish over 11lbs, 3 fish over 10 and 4 over 8. We had a lot of 5-7 lb fish...I mean a lot. Tons of 3-5 lb fish. Crazy fishing to say the least and we never fished past 12:30. NO, the fish are not on beds.....all BIG fish were in 12 to 20 feet of water (staging on drop-offs and creek channels). All but 1 BIG fish caught on watermelon-red senkos with a short carolina-rig. Fishing edge of grasslines and structure. Suggested Areas to Fish 1) 4-fingers rock ledge area 2) Island on left side of dam at mouth of creek. 3) Dam - left side bouy's 1-4 from dam. 2-4 always good for #'s and occasional big fish. Trick to Choke is make sure the South East wind is present and there is not a high pressure system over the lake. A North wind will shut-down the Florida Bass. If you want to drag a boat to one of the South Texas lakes and need some tips, just PM me. I'll be glad to look over a map with you or provide some info. Flacon and Amistad are also HOT right now.

Once again the Three Stooges together another biased top 10.........congrats...... ??? ??? Either Bridge City is the host server for SETX or Honey-Dishon writes this ever week. ;D ;D Orangefield almost beat them and they get 11 runs against, WOW...seems like a # 1 for me too. : Can't wait for week-5......just about time for WOS to be in the 1 spot.

BH and Forest Brook rained out.

**Week 3 SETXSPORTS.COM Top Ten**
bh89-2 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I agree Adminbabe, however your thought process does not consider they would hav to give additional credit to BH if they ranked PNG. See they are still recovering from the brutal effort it took to move them in 1st during Week 2. I also think BC is deserving as anyone, but a win over Silsbee is not much better than a win over PNG. Having said that, BC can score 20 on you in a hurry, much like BH. West Brook get's #2 for getting "hometowned" is just way far left for me..... I guess you can't expect much from a SETX board. -
*Post Barbers Hill Tourney Scores Here*
bh89-2 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
With the exception of a 1 run shot by Townley, the first 4 innings of this game were very ugly. Pitching had a lot of trouble in the first 1/2 of the game. Tons of walks and errors. Middle of the game and down by 3, BH changed pitchers and decided to start playing ball. HJ pitching staff must have been spent earlier in the tournament or wanted to save their staff for district play, as they all had trouble tonight finding an answer to the BH bats. Glad this one is over. BH wins their own tournament. District is finally here. -
I am hoping my frient Richard Hidalgo makes the roster. Lot's of comp out there in the right field spot. He fell into a slump a few years ago, but a lot of that had to do with off the field activities.
