21 4A v. 22 4A Playoff Matchups

I watched Nederland in that game and quite frankly I thought much more of them after that game than before. Nederland's defense did well against LaMarque, however other than a 900lb average accross the line Lamarque did not have much offensively. LaMarque'ss QB in this game was VERY bad. I don't think LaMarque is as good as their ranking. Nederland just needs to step it up on defense. If they play as hard as they did against LaMarque they should do fine against most anyone in the area. Mosley is a dominant player and with some balance they could be dangerous. The Galena Park and Nederland possibility will be interesting. Both teams defenses are having questionable years and both offenses can score quickly against a weaker defense. Having said all that I agree it is a combination of weaker teams and stronger teams. Just my opinion.

Cougarpride I sure hate that it appears you draw Dayton round 1. I think you all are good enough to beat one of the other district teams, but Dayton is a tough draw. Central is no cake walk, but better than Dayton. Too bad we both can't take turns spanking Nederland. -

District 22-4A Playoff Scenarios... *Updated 11/3**

Whoever makes the playoffs, I hope their not looking past 21-4A. Dayton is almost a sure 1st round win, but I am not so sure about the rest. Crosby is much improved since playing PNG and BH will compete with most anyone in 22-4A. If Nedeland makes it, then yes they should face Galene Park as the Div-1 reps. GP does not have a stellar defense, however they can outscore you in a hurry. Nederland and GP are much in the same boat defensively. Might be a scoring war. BH and Central or BH and Dayton will be tough games for all involved. Div-2 is always much harder it seems. Good luck to all. -

I'll give C.E. King their props. I watched them against Forest Brook and they are MUCH better now. They would be a 3rd place team in the golden triangle. If they could throw the ball they would be tough to beat. What can you say about the defense, but wow. They pull us out of tight spots week after week. Joe Sexton is on a terror and that kid's range on the field just amazes me. He makes opposite field plays on a routine basis and I just can't imagine how he gets there. I also agree with those pass play calls. Downfield, please! Tighten up this week, as we are not done yet and have a very talented GP to face. -
HAHAHA....guess those send's were working after alll........LOL The UIL braket is where I saw it.......go figure..... Maybe they will just pencil us in for the State Championship and we can avoid all that extra work.

Who are some of the best linebackers in the area?

Don't want to sound like a homer, but: Here is another vote for Joe Sexton. His name is called on almost every play. How about him getting to run the ball the other night out of the backfield. -
I read somewhere PNG beat Friendswood. I guess that was wrong. Good luck BH. This will be a tough match here.

You want laughter, look at the entire district Central is in. Other than Dayton everyone else is not very good. I did not predict BH to beat Central, I said it would be a good game. Since you brought it up......... Let's look at Central a little closer. They have lost 3 games. They are allowing 21.6 points per game against. They have been beatin by Houston Sterling 40 to 34. Houston Streling has been beatin by every decent team they have played, inlcuding losing to Silsbee 54 to 32 and Dickinson 34 to 30. Central just barely beat a less than average Lumberton team 22 to 14 and was almost beatin by Vidor 38 to 34. Neither will make the playoffs. New Caney, who BH beat 42 to 14 almost beat Lumberton, who as you recall from above, hung in very close with Central. They had one good game against Dayton, who must have been a little off, now Central is "Very Good".  BH has beat Dickinson every year (pretty bad) and Silsbee every year for the past few years we have played. BH has beat Vidor in every game we have played, most by a large margin. BH has also beat Lumberton in every game we have plaed, most by a large margin. BH is allowing an average of 10 points per game. Most of which came late in the 4th with the dogs sitting on the bench. BH has only been scored on 1 time in the fist half and that was by a state ranked Bellville team who is also in the top 10 scoring offenses. BH is scoring an average of 31.7 points per game and have averaged 45.3 in the last 3 games. I was trying to be politically correct however the way I see it Dayton had a poor outing and Central does not have a very good defense. Laugh if you will, but on paper it's not as laughable as you may find it. -
Didn't they play last night? Who won?

21-4A vs 22-4A First Round Of playoffs
bh89-2 replied to ballcoach's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have not seen Central play this year, so I can't say one way or another how they comppare to BH. I have seen Dayton play and I think BH and Dayton are VERY similiar in many ways. Both defenses are very tough and very fast. Dayton has the edge over BH on the running game (obviously wit Dugat) but I think BH has a slightly better passing game. Not taking anything away from Dayton's passing game and A.J. Dugat. In that same breath I will say BH has not played a secondary as good as Dayton, so BH passing might not be as productive. Dayton has had issues with turnovers this year and with BH's startes in the game, those have been few and far between. Special teams are pretty even, both have a kicking game and both have been good at not allowing big plays. Both have also blocked kicks. Central has lost a game they should have won and they have held a very good Dayton team to a 1-point loss. BH and Central are likely to face each other, unless something crazy occurs and Nederland loses thier last 2 games and PNG can't squeeze in. I think BH and Central will be a close game either way. Fewest mistakes wins, in my opinion. -
C.E. King at Barbers Hill Predictions
bh89-2 replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have watched CE King play a strugling Forest Brook team and they did not have much. C.E. King has a quick QB and a decent running back. They almost exclusively depend on running the ball. They have NO passing game to speak of. I don't see them penetrating BH's defense as often as they did against other teams. If they throw the ball they are in serious trouble. BH will be too much for CE King. No doubt :!: BH 35 King 12 (late points) -
