I know this is going to be a fire-starter but I think it needs to be said. This is what a good African-American coach can do for a program, especially in the south. Kevin Sumlin has now flipped Thomas Johnson, Seals-Jones, and just picked up Justin Manning who I think is the best d-tackle in the state. Before Sumlin got there TAMU was very unlikely to get the top players in the state, especially if they were African-American. Very hard for those kids to blend in College Station and feel like it's a second home unlike Austin or the DFW area. He has also gotten Kameron Miles to decommit from Tennessee. Eldridge Massington has not yet committed to TAMU but is looking like a likely target for Sumlin, Massington is a USC decommit. If A&M can continue to keep winning they're going to blow Texas out of the water in recruiting which has been the Horns lifeblood for a decade, it seems like unless you were an All-American in high school UT wouldn't offer you in the past. A&M is fitting right along in the SEC though, I believe UT didn't offer Manning yet because he was a non-qualifier last time I checked.
I think its more about Johnny Manziel and the SEC, but Sumlin was the right choice for A&M at this moment in History. The other coach recruited Johnny Football, Sumlin was smart to start him.
I agree, but Sumlin made Manziel. If he was this good he would have started over Tannehill last year. If Sherman was still there they would be 6-6 right now just like they were last year in the Big 12. There's a reason Manziel was playing receiver on the scout team last year, he barely won the job a few days before the season started. He was also the # 40 qb in his class and A&M was his best offer. When you start giving Sumlin guys near the top of their class like Mack Brown has been getting at Texas I think he's going to turn into Steve Spurrier.
If Texas is smart they need to fire Brown and get A&M offensive coordiantor Kliff Kingsbury before Texas Tech hires him. -
I don't see in the play by play where the "inadvertent whistle" kept the Horns from completing a touchdown run in the open field. Or where the Horns actually covered a fumble in the end zone, but had it called a Tiger touchdown. It was a game changing screw up by the officials in my opinion! The Horns came out and played a hard fought game. It is very disheartening to work so hard and have the officials make such a difference. Hang in there Horns!d
Yes, I agree with you. I was told it should have been 20 to 7 at the half hf leading. Heard the down marker officials told HF fans that it was a fumble at the goal line by Silsbee. and of coarse the inadvertent whistle that took away HF pick 6. Could have been a different game. Silsbee is good, but not as good as I thought, and definitely not as good as some of the predictions I saw. They should finish second. -

East Chambers at Kirbyville Game Thread/EC WINS 42-27!!!

Way to bounce back EC. Going to the playoffs as the second place team is still going to the playoffs. -

East Chambers 24 Kirbyville 20
You also said Newton would lose to EC... I don't think you really know these teams.
Are you saying that AggiesAreWe picked EC over Newton last week? Well, he only missed one game out of 25 in the PickEM for last week and EC / Newton game wasn't it. Further, his year to date correct choices percentage is 82.9% (That's 145 correct out of 175 picks.) Now, let's see your record. Oh, here it is. Took me awhile to locate it because I had to go to the bottom of the WHOLE listing. WOW! 48%. You tried it once, got 12 correct out of 25 for 48%, and didn't come back. Now, let me ask you a serious question, Back2swag. Do you really think that you're qualified to make the inane statement about AAW not really knowing the teams? I think NOT. Go hide somewhere and leave my man, AAW, alone. ::) 8)
Gig em!
The thing that has to be understood here is that there are certain times that NOT MAKING A CALL is not an option. If a pass is thrown and "presumably" intercepted than a call has to be made. They can't just blow the whistle and immediately huddle up, that would cause an even bigger stink. How would you feel if there was a close play at first base and after watching it the first base umpire makes no call and immediately jogs to home plate to talk it over? You would be infuriated. Umpires use EVERYTHING they see, including physical context clues, to make the best call they can. If one of their partners got a better look at it then he can help him out. We are all guilty of getting on officials about bad calls, myself included, but 99% of them are not out there in malice. And I agree with the Barbay quote, if the officials keep you from winning theres a pretty good chance you wouldn't have won anyway.
Are you sure about the Barbay quote, Remember the Packers vs. Seatle.

Rank #6 west orange stark vs orangefield bobcats
jenks replied to nasty661's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
#2 offense, #5 defense OF VS #1 defense , #5 offense WOS. WOS 42-OF 6 WOS to fast on defense. All that razzle dazzle OF does will not work well here. Would love to go to this game if it was at OF, Can't stand the fort knox feeling I get at WOS.
