1.
Does anyone know if they are still practicing in the evenings? Went earlier and no one there. What time do they practice in the evenings if they do? Thanks.
I heard that they are practicing earlier in the morning then midday.
 2. The thing I like the most about this season is no one knows what to expect (other than some good football). We have seen some play makers the past few years and you always knew pretty much what you were going to get going into a game. I am looking forward to seeing how this young team comes together. There were people who doubted that this team could step up when Muskgrove, Hazzelwood, Jackson, Ja Micheal and others left and the Cats found a way to man up make it back to the big dance and then a third good run at it. When you have the kind of talent this team has been blessed with someone is always waiting for thier time to shine.
 3. Will Tyler will be in the backfield too. That ought to open up a few holes. Nothing softens up a d line like a few cracked helmets!
 4. Page 1297, Paragraph 9, line 4 clearly states: All sleds, and pads, srews nuts or bolts to before mention sleds and or any miselaneous parts thereof shall be completely removed from the district from which further use shall be made so that no cry baby of the first part shall offend pot stirrers of the second part in any way shape, form or fashion. Hey! The sleds are off the practice field and are untouched. The closest anyone has come to them has been someone looking for shade under the same tree they are under. Not being used, not on the field. May be Coach can start a new strength and conditioning camp for people that want to jump to conclusions, stretch the truth and pull their panties out of a wad.
 5. I run an air conditioning and electrical business and we have to be up in attics in this heat. It is common for it to be 140 degrees up there and more than a few people are out in the heat working hard right now,  some in FRCs that make you even hotter. You would be suprised what you can get use to as long as you pay attention to how your body is doing, take breaks and drink plenty of water. At least the coaches are more educated about things now. We would never have asked for a water breack back in the day. All it would have got you was a speach on weakness and a few air raids. They hate it now but they will remember making it through for the rest of their lives.
 6. Hey Kats, I know people love to hate on Kville but they ussually let us suit up before they start mess. We havent even had a chance to whup up on somebody yet! BTW I think we should start calling WT "chevy" instead of Lil Will. I am looking forward to seeing a big block chevy could do in the place of a Ford.
 7. I dont know how an "outsider" would know what has or not happened at practice. I have been at both and I can tell you they have not been hitting the sled. The only time they have been near them is when there is peice of shade over that way.
 8.
I was at wildcats practice yesterday and jacko was there and they said burman was planning on comming back so the wildcats are in good shape!!
I hope your right. That being said I think they will be fine either way.
 9.
where did Burman go?
Nac
 10. I understand that Jacko is gone along with Burman. I went to watch practice yesterday and although its tough to recognize who is who but they do still have a lot of speed.
 11. Two a days start Monday and football season starts rolling. I know that there are a lot of questions hanging over this years team but I for one am looking forward to it. Kirbyville fans have heard the negative spin before. The Cats eat haters for breakfast. Honestly though we have very little idea who will be playing what or where. A new coach (kinda) who has the reigns now and can play it his way. Some of this teams young men have been in the shadow of truely talented players and are ready for their time to shine. SOMEONE will step up but who will it be? The teams the past few years have been great, solid teams. I expect this year will be no different.  ;D
 12.

It should and usually is the player standing directly under or directly behind the center.
:D  :D very funny. What i meant by the question is which one do yall think he should start. On one hand he's got the not so experienced short qb who is fast and has been in the same position since he started playing. On the other hand he's got a senior who's got experience in the qb position from earlier years but not recent but also has an arm and experience on varsity. I was just asking for yall's opinion.
Oh, it is clear what you are asking.  And healthy debate which sets out the strengths of the two competing quarterbacks is a good thing. However, when you interject the "who should get it, and who shouldn't get it," that seems to turn the topic heading toward a vehicle to create, what I feel anyway, is undue criticism of Coach Mathews and whatever quarterback you do not support in this race.
I know. I didn't mean to make it seem that way.
I am going to try to be real careful how I word this as not to be misunderstood. I like highschool football. More than pro, more than college, it has roots in the community and the rivalries are great. I like this forum. There are so many people on here with a lot of insight and knowledge. I just do not understand why any comment other than "Yeah team" is quickly deemed negative. I dont think there was any talk of "who should be quarterback? and should the other kid be allowed to live or not?" A simple debate on which player might best fit the program in someones "opinion" does not mean a thing in the real world it's just for fun. If any coach relies on the opinions of the Saturday morning coaches on sites like this to make his desision he has problems. My point is as long as no one gets personal and it is just a matter of " Player A is taller and can chunk the ball a mile but player  B is a year older,  has quick feet and played TB last year so he knows the offense" why is that made out to be bashing and disrespecting a coaches authority. He who has not questioned a coaches sanity shall cast the first stone!
 13. Lil' Will has told me he has dropped close to 20 lbs and has hit the weights hard. He will be stronger and faster this year, shame on anyone who touches the ball!
 14.
I hope he is.....he runs with conviction 8)
He will put his shoulder down and put a lick on someone to get his yards so I hope he does make it back. I guess we'll know one way or the other soon.
 15. I spent some time talking football with Will Tyler this weekend. Now I am ready for some football. It looks like Burman will not be in Kirbyville this year. I think Brooks looked good in the backfield everytime we saw him. Plenty of talent in Jacko and others. I am looking forward to seeing what they can put together.
 16. They lost. Better luck in their home opener.
 17. I went and watched them practice. Jerome Tyler (Lil Will's big bro) is playing but has a seperated shoulder and will miss the first game. I met the owner and head coach. They are very hopeful that the lure of a little more football will put some fans in the stands. Players from Kville, Newton, Nac center and Lufkin. Some of these guys can get a second shot at doing well and some will just get to live in their glory days a while longer. Either way it should be fun to watch.
 18. I know this is a high school thread but if anyone gets interested in the new Minor leauge football it will be High School fans.  What is the interest out there in this team. They are having practice saturday at 2:00 if anyone wants to check it out.

Retired from the education system and recieving a pension. 2. Working for the same education system and recieving a paycheck. They and many others are double dipping the system. It should not be possible. If they want to come out of retirement and coach or teach because they are good at it, they enjoy it and are needed that would be fantastic. It is nothing personal with these two fine coaches it just does not make good financial sense.
This is BS ! Teachers and Coaches are some of the lowest paid people in the State, and they are the ones teaching our Children ! They deserve allot more than what they are getting. This is just one way that they can get the money they should have been getting all along. Coaches spend countless hours at the school for next to nothing !
Just because these are "good men" and are well liked does not mean they or anyone else should be able to quit their job so that they can then get rehired in order to get a 75% raise. No one can argue that teachers do not make enough money. But no one goes into teaching to make big bucks.  No one tricked them into thinking they were ever going to make any more than they do. Teaching is a calling and most make huge sacrafices. Sucsessfull coaches do very well moving up to bigger schools with bigger expectations an bigger checks. I respect any coach who stays with a small school KNOWING thet they will hit that glass ceiling. Its an admirable choice and one that they should be proud of. The fact is the districts can not afford this practice.

 21.
Ford signs with SFA
Did he say anything about his reasoning in picking SFA? Just wondering what put them on top.
 22.

Any word on this job?
I would say Coach Neese. He have been our offensive coordinator for years. Hopefully Coach Vanya doesnt leave...he's just of a good Defensive coordinator as Coach Johnston who is now a head coach in Newton. I just think we need a couple more quality coaches to help assist with our program.
I believe Vanya is already gone. Going with Jack.
 23. Unless I am mistaken Lamar only scored one rushing touchdown all season and that was from three yards out. It's not hard to make the arguement that they need a good back. If Lamar's football program is going to make it they will have to recruit local talent to bring in the fans until they can build their own fan base. I would love to see Ford make it in a D1 program. I would also like to see him make a difference at Lamar. I guess it all depends on how he sees his future football carreer going. If he plans on just playing college ball and then hanging it up, why not go to Lamar and try to make a name for himself. If he wants to try to make it to the next level LU might not be a good choice but that's JMO. Ford is the only one that has to live with the choice so best of luck to him and I hope he makes up his mind based on what makes him happy and gets himself a good education to boot.
 24. Burman has it posted on Facebook that he will not be at Kirbyville next year. Haywood will be in the backfield IMO.
