Big win for the Bears. It was a hard fought close game that could have hinged on any pitch with the wind blowing out. Nice pitching performances by both teams with big plays that could have turned the game in either direction. Two of the biggest momentum plays were: 1. With LCM nursing a two run lead with 2 on and 1 out, tried a suicide squeeze that was popped up and Vidor doubled the runner off third to end the inning. 2. With the Pirates down by one in the 7th inning with runners on, the batter (?) hit a sharp shot to the gap in left center. LCM centerfielder Hunter Gonzales made an OUTSTANDING catch on what appeared to be a certain extra base hit. Stay tuned to ESPN for Hunter's catch to be on "Plays of the Week". ;D I didn't have a clue exactly how hard Waddell was throwing, but it was appearent that several fastballs were hot coming to the plate.

With only 6 sec left on the clock......WOW! :o The clock is gonna stop when i pick up the 1st. Now i have a little more time to figure out what to do on 1 and goal from the three with three sec. left. The defense better be ready cause we're coming again RUNNING straight at them.The reason I'm running is because my is running back is an the o-line are all seniors and weight 250-300 lbs,plus the QB doesn't read the d well, o yeah the back has 40 carries already one more for the WIN ain't gonna hurt. WOW...all that talent and you're still behind? ;D

I love basketball, but to say it rivals football in Texas is not even close...Football is still very much KING in Texas. Dickie V. wants to exclude in his numbers the band, cheerleaders, drill team...why? They are there BECAUSE of football. How many cheerleaders would tryout if they knew they wouldn't cheer at football games? Would the drill team put all of the effort into their routines if they knew they would only perform for 200-350 people at the basketball games? So what if some parents leave noncompetitive football games after their kids have performed at halftime. Most people have this grand idea that football brings in great volumes of revenue for their school. Dickie V is correct in saying that the majority of school districts actually operate their football programs "in the red". Why would almost all of the districts continue to lose money on their football programs? BECAUSE IT'S WORTH IT!

How many freshmen and sophomores are on varsity and who are they? How many freshmen and sophomores are starters? Last night Nederland started: sophmores; 3B Trevor Sonnier, 2B Stephen Schlett, RF Tyler Smith, C Anthony Babino I was impressed with the Nederland kid behind the plate...above he's identified as sophomore Anthony Babino. The first thing that grabs you when you see him is that he's small in stature, but he makes you forget about that in a hurry. He's a very active catcher, made some fantastic stops on tough pitches breaking in the dirt, and took charge in the game. He seemed to play with more experience than a sophomore. Congrats to A. Babino and the Dogs on a good game...hopefully we'll be ready when we come to your place.

How does that "little story" translate into "We're loaded" and "Should take it all"? I have 3 kids who attend LCM and subsequently that involves me with a multitude of other kids at the school that I care about. There is a nice feel of excitement around LCM's football program right now . Don't blow it for the kids by stirring the pot with things "your buddy at the school" said. If you care about the 5 kids that you go to church with quit digging them a hole. I too wish them ALL well.

Skipper, Please highlight a quote where ANY LCM fan has made the statement that ----LCM is loaded---no reason why we can't take it all! You are way misguided in what the expectations are. Get kids to the field and work hard on doing the things that turn the program around. "W's" & "L's" will take care of themselves.

Talked to him today. Good news for WOS. Spoke to Coach Dyer through email today as well. Very good news for WOS and a disappointment to the rebuilding process in Bear Country. Coach Dryer is a quality coach, man, and leader to these high school kids. I wish him continued success in his new position.

I've always had some doubts about spring practice, but can see some positives in it for a school that is bringing in a new Head Coach and staff like PNG and LCM. Gives kids a chance to see the new system AND for the coach to set the tone/expectations for his program.

So Silsbee's record should reflect... Wins....Loses....Ties......Moral victories? WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!! Lets wait until October, then one of us can reap what we sow...... Probably wont be complete until summer, coaches have contracts to fullfill. And yes you may ask. The shuffle will take place before the summer. ;D

Maybe now but back in the day when it was just TJ they fielded some pretty good teams. That is the saddest part about consolidating schools...history is lost at some point. Young people have absolutely no idea about the storied past of Port Authur football...TJ or Lincoln. Some of the greatest football players ever in southeast Texas came from PA schools.

Yes...I see why. Skipper is cool though...I just think he gets a little excited when he writes and tries to cram a bunch a thoughts in a short space. Nothing really wrong with that. Hopefully LCM will soon have a complete and solid coaching staff.
