will it make a diffrence at west orange -stark
Slam14 replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Sorry,,, just had to give you a hard time on your first post. Hooks always finds a way to reload with players and coaches. I'm sure there's a lot of good coaches standing in line to be a part of that program. Its somewhat true for the students too. Yall are assuming those positions will be filled. I wouldn't count my chickens. I thought that at first...but now WOS might HAVE to before the dust settles. ??? So your expecting Board and Administrative support? ??? I'm saying the dust hasn't settled yet. I think the board and Admin will support Hooks in whatever he needs/wants for assistant coaches. -

LC-M vs. BH Updates....BH Wins!!!!!!
Slam14 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congratulations to the Barbers Hill Eagles! BH is a complete team. Quick, smart, and can adjust to different situations and plays very well together, especially considering how young this team is. BH is loaded with contributing FR and Sophs. BH has a great program and classy following from fans and parents. In the first half they constantly kept the Bears on their heels by using their speed to take the ball right to the front of the rim. LCM started slow and was kind of "wide-eyed" since most of these girls were in the 4th grade the last time the girls program had a game of this magnitude. I was extremely proud of the fight the LCM girls put up in the second half. LCM graduates a team that is loaded with seniors who made a huge impact on the girls basketball program at LCM. I'm not even sure that these girls realize the interest that they've sparked in the younger girls in the district, but they have. Congrats to a great group of Seniors at LCM and I wish you much success in your future! On a personal note, on 1-20-09 against Lumberton, Tayler Thompson suffered a heartbreaking injury when she tore the PCL in her left knee while driving for a layup. I would like for all of the LCM players and their parents to know how much I appreciate their constant concerns, prayers and well wishes for Tayler. With rehab through LCM trainer Sherry Hoffpauir, Tayler was able to get strong enough with the aide of a brace to get on the floor for a few minutes on Senior night just a few weeks later and make it to the floor last night. I am an EXTREMLY proud of her determination and character. "Thanks you" to all those who made that possible for her. And most of all, thank you to Coach Amanda Ellerbee for being more than just a basketball coach to this group of young ladies. -
;D BH is very solid and well coached, but the Bears are not entering in with a defeated attitude. The "fairtale" dream was to work hard enough to qualify, and make the playoffs and then play as hard as they possibly can after an 8 year drought from the playoffs. They don't seem to be satisfied with just getting there. LCM hopes to show BH why they deserve to be there. Sorry that your anger in other threads bleeds over here. ;D future_ditch digger maybe you better stay in school a little longer and learn how to spell before you take up coaching. I'm sure the Hill is expected by most to win but I can guarantee you the Lady Bears will not lay down and give it to them. They have worked very hard to get where they are this year and they will show up to compete. Good Luck to both Barbers Hill and LCM tonight ! Hopefully its a good game with no injuries ! ;D ;D Ditto! I understand that most major Universities now offer double majors in ditch digging/coaching. ;D

The WOS faithful had Toby Foreman penciled in to take over the offensive coordinators position since Coach Crouch's departure to LCM. If Coach Foreman is offered the Jasper job, who is the most likely to step in?

Hillguy, Your daughter played very well this past weekend in the 19-4A showdown...congratulations on a couple of big wins. I am worried though that after those two tough games that she may be a little worn down. I'd like to offer about a half dozen chili cheese dogs this evening before the game to help her get her strength back! LOL ;D I'll try to have those for her about 6:30. Good luck and hopefully we'll see a very competitive, injury free game. Go Bears!

17 point play? If they made 17 of 18 free throws then maybe they DO deserve to win! ;D

Sounds like those wounds are still wide open in most cases.

Coop, (or anybody) I missed the Sports Xtra interview...can anybody give me the highlights of what the Coaches thoughts were? -
Barbers Hill looked very strong and poised this afternoon in taking the #1 seed in 19-4A. They have some great kids who are obviously well coached. LCM will have to be on top of their game to take down the Eagles. Film is nice, but it was good for the Bears to make the trip and have a chance to see BH again in live action. It was also nice to see and talk for a few minutes with some familiar faces decked out in blue. BH packs the house. PNG has a very nice gym and a much closer home advantage for LCM. Even though that's a small advantage the Bears were pushing for a Monday night game because there are many other school activities Tuesday that will keep some of our crowd away. Hopefully we'll be ready with plenty of green and gold support in the stands.

WHO WILL REPLACE COACH CROUCH AT WOS??
Slam14 replied to speveto's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
: AggiesAreWe...where are you? -
If you were disappointed with LCM's gym, then you're in for a big shock in Lumberton. If you aren't reading this from your laptop sitting in the gym right now...you probably won't get a seat. ;D

Crouch Making Changes..Crouch Working Them Hard!!!
Slam14 replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Will Coach Crouch change HIS style? I hope he won't change his style. I'm sure that probably wasn't one of his comments during the interview process. I can hear it now...Yes, Mrs. Hargrove, these are all my accomplishments over my athletic career...but don't pay much attention to that because if given the chance, I'd like to totally change my style. ??? If you're talking about the kids, then I hope he's not closed-minded and I hope he doesn't stereo-type the kids at LCM as some seem to have. LCM has the athletes to compete, but the first order of duty is to get them inspired to come out for the team. They have a young, gifted quarterback in Hunter Gonzales who can pretty much do it all. I'm sure whatever offensive scheme is drawn up at LCM it will revolve around him. I hope he chooses to spread it out. When you think of teams in the area with speed...Nederland is not the first team that pops into your head, but they have done well spreading the ball around. That's the style of play and direction I hope to see the Bears heading. Speaking of Hunter, I had a good long talk with him and his dad last night. ;D J/K ;D ;D Not a real concern. ;D I was just about to walk over and make sure the thermostat was set comfortably in his dad's control room and offer up some overtime later in the week if he's interested. ;D ;D Rocky's response is "Hunter is born and raised to wear green and gold". -

Why weren't you there skipper? There were alot of well wishers including a couple of Mustangs. The school is busy this morning trying to figure out how these guys got past security! ;D Not true!! LCM welcomes most potential converts. ;D We are all "potential" convrts but I don't look for it to happen any time soon. Uuhhh...what you are hinting at is NOT the way we are wanting to "attract" converts. : I know that those schools who have good AD's will not understand this next statement and will not think it's a big deal, BUT...after what had to be a tiring first day at his new school, Coach Crouch showed up (wearing green, td) AND STAYED through the girls JV and Varsity basketball games. (I think that EQUALS Moody's totals during his tenure.) -

The school is busy this morning trying to figure out how these guys got past security! ;D That doesn't say much for your security since I walked in wearing my WOS Mustang gear. I had a word with security...they said they let you through because they thought you were just bringing some old things to the bonfire! ;D ( I did enjoy getting a chance to talk to you for a while, even though I didn't want to get too close with you dressed like that.) I too was a little disappointed that the turn out was not any larger that it was, but it was not a widely publicized event and I'm sure a bigger stage will be set in the near future. The board did have a nice set up for the occasion and gave those who took the time to attend the opportunity to welcome the new coach. -
Now what would make you think that about Livingston? : : OMG!!! I agree that this is the way it SHOULD go, but I'm still a little on edge. Livingston has a ton of talent and has proven that they can beat anybody in the district, but also doesn't play real smart at times. If Nederland finds a spark early, they might have a shot. I'm sure my "LCM green" will turn to "Livingston green" later tonight!

I think a Livingston win would possibly give them a shot at the #2 spot if Ozen falls to Central again. Hopefully Livingston comes with something to play for too.

:o I wasn't aware that a leopard could change his spots SO quickly! For WEEKS this board has been FULL of posts saying LCM needs to hire a coach that will do this...LCM needs to hire a coach that will do that... The absolute most mentioned phrase was "A my way or the highway" coach. Coach Crouch hasn't even officially taken the job and people are worried about what might "make the kids mad" or what will "make someone unhappy"...for crying out loud you can't have it both ways! Lead, follow, or get out of the way!
-
Sorry Skipper, I just don't see this happening. LCM does have some very good young coaches and some of those will be asked to stay, but look for Coach Crouch to add (or bring) others with him. This whole ordeal is about changing the way things have been done at Bear Country. If the administration had enough confidence in Crouch to make him "The Man"...then they need to respect how and who he needs to bring on board to get the job done. I hope he has some answers about his staff at the board meeting Monday.
