  1. No apologies necessary. Friends it is. Like a wise man once said "Sometimes things come across the wrong way when they are being typed and not spoken." It's easy to get emotional when your kids and community is involved.
  2. Sorry you took this post the way you did skipper. No real need to get defensive, I wasn't attacking you. "Get a clue" is a reference to the shot you took at the LCM school board members without really knowing what is happening. A "selection committee" has been formed and the head of that committee is receiving all of the applications at this point. Board members don't really even know who all those applicants are yet. (YET being the key word) The school board is doing their job just fine. "Buy a vowel" just refers to The Wheel of Fortune game show. Contestants sometimes buy a vowel when they're not real sure what the answer is yet. That reference had nothing to do with your spelling. This board is the best and cheapest entertainment around. Sorry if you think "I'm like that"
  3. LCM defeats Livingston 45-33! The Lady Bears put together 4 solid quarters and played great half court defense to defeat the Livingston Lions 45-33. The Lady Lions never seemed to find their rhythm all night with the biggest reason being the outstanding defensive effort turned in by LCM's Katie Harrell on Livingston's "go-to" girl. (sorry...don't have her name). The Lions were clearly frustrated by being taken out of their game. LCM guards Soileau, Harrell, Williams, Conn, and Harkness all made good decisions in shot selection and protected the ball well. Post players Tayler and Tiffani Thompson and Shelby Apperson did a very good job of limiting shots on the defensive end as well as attacking the goal on offense. This was a huge win for the Lady Bears and really throws a kink into the district standings as the first round of district finishes up Friday. Congratulations to Coach Ellerbee and the Lady Bears!
  4. I can add and subtract fairly well, but I also understand the concept of robbing Peter to pay Paul. Don't you think that the gate money is already appropriated to go somewhere? If I take part of my insurance premium money and pay my "NEW" annexation taxes don't you think td will miss that money? I'm sure the gate proceeds go to the athletic fund. So all of those "one dollar" subtractions are already in the athletic kitty. (Excluding the LCM game which splits the gate...you can take a dollar from the visitor side too if you think it will help.) I actually think the board may be right here, but that's just my opinion. My point is that you better have something more than just a distain for change if you want to get the school district to reconsider.
  5. Hillguy captured some good ones! How about: 1. Traveling, and arriving at your 8AM game to find out that your opponent "no-showed" 2. 21 yr olds playing in the 16U division. 3. Frost on the outfield grass!
  6. This is a great idea to gather the opinions of the community. It makes the community members stop and think about more that wins and losses too. This format serves as statements by the district administrators as much as it does questions to the community. And YES, you pushed the lever at elections for those people to make these decisions...and that's exactly what they're doing. They will use this "opinion poll" to help in their search and decision making. Don't be fooled into thinking that this survey holds any more value than what it is. It is not in any way taking away the decision making by the administration at LCM.
  7. Surely you don't REALLY think it's a matter of just "taking" a $1.00 at a time from some other place, event, of function?
  8. Smitty, If you can explain to the board how the buses save the district money you've got it licked!
  9. Unfortunately this is going to come down to affordability for the district. WOS has been struggling financially in the resent past and parent (or the WOS community) has to find a way to convey to the board and Superintendent that this is worth continuing and holds a value. I'm not sure of the tax base and financial status of the districts mentioned above, but it must be pretty good. Both of the above mentioned Houston areas ISD's have 4 large high schools apiece. Klein ISD 41,800 students! Alief ISD Klein High Alief Hastings Klein Collins Alief Elsiks Klein Forest Alief Kerr Klein Oak Alief Taylor Newton is "Newton"
  10. All of the these guys have good qualities and backgrounds, but it sounds like there are many more applicants out there to choose from as well. It doesn't look like this is a decision that will be made hastily and without a lot of scrutiny. All outward appearances show that the hiring process steps that LCM has laid out have things moving in the right direction.
  11. Doubt very seriously if a list will be put out for public knowledge, but it has grown to approximately 40. There is still speculation that there are some applicants waiting until the last minute to throw their names in the hat as well. Hopefully the list is packed with quality. The "approximately 40" (38) is accurate information. Jeff Harrell's name has been tossed around, but I'm not sure if he's actually applied or not. I certain hope he has! The experience and knowledge that he's gained in working on Barry Norton's Texas High staff has to add to Jeff's appeal as a top candidate.

  13. Yes. He actually is out of state. '6"6 235lbs. 4.5 forty, threw for 5,098 yards, rushed for 1,256 yards, scored 73 td's this past season. He is just a soph. and is also the top student in his class. How's that for a rumor? ;D "I heard"...He was going to Dayton, but changed his mind and will attend LCM or PNG depending on who gets the better coach. The Michigan school where he was enrolled is weak academically and did not offer AP classes. The Texas UIL has granted him another year of eligibility to catch up on his studies. He will actually still be a soph next season. ;D
  14. well known name has applied, but till it's officially announced by the school district to the media, everything else is just speculation. i would expect that's the way the concerned people of LCM would like it handled. Was it Moe, Larry, or Curly? ;D (Sorry) I'm sure even more applicants will apply as the deadline approaches. Some coaches don't want to get caught up in the rumor mill or the silly crap that is written on website pages. ;D
  15. I would say if any this is LCM's best chance to make the playoffs...Lumberton beating Nederland made it even easier for the Bears. I think it's a pretty sure bet that Central, Ozen, and Livingston are going to be in the playoffs. I'm not sure if Lumberton beating Nederland made it "easier" for the Bears, but it did open the door a little. You're right in the fact that Central, Ozen, and Livingston are the front runners and will probably take the first three playoff spots, but these teams will still be challenged by the rest of the district. There is still a lot of basketball to play and almost anything can happen, but the winner of tonights game between LCM & Nederland would inch one team a little closer to that final playoff spot.
  16. It's great to have all of those applicants to choose from and there are some impressive names on the list, but these list are also filled with names from people (not football coaches) from all across the nation looking for "A" job not in particular "THIS" job. The Central HC/AD is an attractive job and a school and team on the rise...it won't be difficult getting good coaches to apply.
  17. Central is certainly the cream of the crop in this district, but LCM showed a glimmer of their potential in the way they played in the first half. We still have to learn to finish games and make other teams play to us. Even though Central answered in the second half with more intensive pressure, we still have too many "unforced" turnovers that lose opportunities for us to score. The Bears have to learn to play 2 halves start to finish. Tomorrows LCM @ Nederland game is pivotal in the district race. LCM has to turn up the pressure some. Good luck Bears!
  18. I'm not positive that the OC put in for the LCM job, but it's no wonder that he would. It seems like there are more people interested in getting him out and replaced than there are people appreciating what he's done for wos. ???
  19. Is the OC quiting or retiring or something?
  20. This is all well and good, but I think you guys need to concentrate on putting a decent team on the field to go along with all these new bells and whistles. None of that really matters as long as you guys keep losing. Gotta love it when someone spins the topic and puts down a program...Good job!!! Do you feel better now? I am glad you love it. Oh, and I feel great! That was weak...nice try though : He is just mad because we beat them in the Astrodome a couple of years ago even though they were favored by 20 ;D Mad? That's funny. Never gave that game any consideration to my way of thinking. I just chalked that loss up to being one of those days. The better team lost that day. Still doesn't change the fact that you guys pale in comparison to our football program. I guess you can always say you have a nice stadium. : : If you build it...they will come. Good luck and congrats to Huffman.
