  1. I don't believe that anybody can go in and ask to see a teacher's emails, gradebooks or lesson plans. That is simply not true. I hate to take the Young Coach's side here because he seems a little brash and immature, but we sign a release at our school that says that administrators may check to see what websites our computers visit. Our email activity is reviewable, as well, and will be saved for FIVE YEARS. So there you go, ya liar! ;D Businesses (and school districts) own the computers and systems that you log onto. You sign the release acknowledging the fact that you understand their rights as the "owners" of that equipment to monitor it's use. They have the right to do the checks and monitor the system, but the public has absolutely no rights to any information...emails, gradebooks, lesson plans or whatever.
  2. The Leader does a good job of trying to cover all area sports. It's a great thrill for young athletes to see their efforts and accomplishments getting press. "Thanks" Gabe and Orange Leader for making the effort to cover events.
  3. ;D ;D This makes about as much sense and is easier to beleive than some of the other things posted. : Will the Ping Pong coach be the AD too?
  4. The job is posted and LCM is accepting applications until January 19th. There will be no "real" news until a few weeks after that date. Feel free to continue making up your own news and speculations until that time. ;D
  5. I know they're still playing...I was just stirring the pot! ;D I was just making light of the fact that some can't even enjoy a season and reflect without trying to analyze things a whole year away that may not even come to pass then.
  6. I heard wos dropped Nederland from their schedule in '09.
  7. The PNG/Nederland rivalry is of great interest if you are from one of those two communities. Outside of that area it's really nothing more than another Friday night game...there is no statewide interest and certainly nothing that would warrent a TV audience.
  8. Is this bus issue actually on the agenda for the next school board meeting or was the DS's statement of "it's still up for discussion" just a way to calm the waters for a little while until this blows over? Change of any kind is usually hard, especially after 20-30 years. I'm not sure that I agree with the buses running...but obviously it's a huge issue to the citizens of the WOS district. Good luck in your appeal and in your fight for what you feel is the right thing to do for your kids.
  9. Based on your post, it appears the "WOS haters" you refer to is anyone who made a comment that did not support the "Taxi Program". Now, not putting all WOS people in one bucket, it seems someone always brings up how great the football team is and how we (we = anyone else) are secretly trying to do things to sabotage the football program everytime we disagrees with anything that is not pro WOS football. (sorry, run on sentence!!) Trust me, most NORMAL people don't sit up at night and plan ways to make sure your "program will fall apart". The fact is, it was WOS board members that voted down the bus program. It was not people from outside your town. So, why did you think your own people did this? Should not this be the question you ask? My son plays football for Lumberton peewee. Lumberton has a reputation for "having money". We also have a very successful football program. Have you seen the condition of our stadium? You should see out Little League baseball field. Our high School scoreboard was not 100% functional all year. Its all about money. We live with what we have. And for your last comment, instead of telling us (WOS haters) to "just get better and work harder", maybe you guys should get with your parents and "work harder" getting your kids to practice like everyone else does. My son plays 3 sports and it can be a pain in the "" to get him to practice, but he has never missed!! Lastly, I hope you guys resolve the problem and the buses keep running. If it keeps kids in school I do agree with it. I just hope education is somewhere in your list of priorities......... Where are all the SETXsports administrators!!! This post should be deleted at once!! It makes WAY too much sense! ;D Thanks hippy boy!
  10. We actually are a tax rich district. We have to give money away (robinhood) every year. The money comes from industry though. Thank you td for being accurate about the tax base...I was trying to stay out of this since I don't live in the district. One possible solution would be for the community of WO-S to find this issue SO important that they would be willing to vote for a tax hike to fund the buses. ??? One of the really bad things about the weak economy and the hurricane damage to the plants is that it won't be long before the plants start asking for tax cuts and lower the value of their property. That will add up to more tough decisions.
  11. Prayers of strength and healing. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I hope all goes well with your wife's treatments.
  12. This one gets my vote for most ridiculous post of the week.
  13. Explain to me how WOS is so different than Silsbee, Newton and other school districts in regards to this problem. These other school districts have single parent homes. These other school districts are experiencing tough times through the bad economy. How is this apples and oranges? I agree. ALL school districts have students that range from those who seem to have every advantage to kids who seem to have every dis-advantage.
  14. Although I agree it is way down on the list. It is miserable on that side when we (WOS) have to be over there. It is way too small when we play at yalls place. Again, I agree it's way down on the list because that may be the only game that it's that way. Let's get yall a new coach. Get you winning and then worry about the smaller issues. Good luck in your search. Sorry td...homefield advantage! ;D It's been kind of miserable sitting on the home side lately too! LOL Maybe the game could be played every year at WOS...of course we would need ALL of the gate since we are giving up home field. ;D Hasn't been too much of an advantage lately. I think we split the gate regardless of where the game is played. More to split at our place......same results. ;D LOL...I guess I was just searching for anything that remotely looks like it might be to our advantage, but you're right. You're right again in the fact that the gate is split right down the middle for that game...and that was my point...we can make the WOS fans comfortable in their nice big stands each season if you'll give up your half of the gate? Fair trade? ;D I'm not so sure that would be such a fair trade. I'm still wondering how we have to give up so much tax money each and every year but never have enough for ourselves. Maybe we are still running a 5A school with a 3A enrollment. I'm not sure but I don't want to be on the school board either. td, I've wondered about WOS's tax money in the past as well. I'm not sure exactly how the Texas State "Robinhood Act" works exactly, but I thought the basis for it was that the richer tax based schools had to share unused or unappropriated money. In basic terms, I thought it was either use it of lose it. I assumed that's how some of the elaborate high school stadiums were built. Closer to home you can look at Evadale's new gym and school computer classes. Does anybody really know how this works?
  15. SWEET! ;D Why didn't I think of that?
  16. You think exactly like my wife...she thinks as long as there are still a lot checks in the checkbook there must be a bunch of money! ;D Even if the money became available it wouldn't be used for stadium stands. ( Did I mention what a stupid thread topic this is?)
  17. Yes "relly". Did you catch Scott's interview on KOGT at halftime of the WOS - Gilmer game?

  19. I'm sure LC-M is way more interested in Scott Surrate than Surrate is interested in LC-M.
  20. Well yes they have a pitiful visitor side. But WOS is spoiled to one of if not the best stadiums in the area for all classifications. Arguably the best 3A stadium as far as size in the state. How many of the WOS fans actually have kids still in the school. Most of the fans that go to those games don't have a dog in the hunt. Not saying that is a bad thing. But how has a school gone from a 5A squad to a 3A squad. You can't expect other 3A programs with far less enrollment and a smaller tax base to improve there structures. It is not their fault that WOS as dropped in enrollment. As far as LCM, lets start beating the WOS teams first and make it even more uncomfortable for their fans on the visitor side before we think about making changes to the facilities. WOS has plenty of room in the stands and is a nice stadium, but it's a far cry from being "the best stadium in the area for all classifications". Again...this is a ridiculous thread. It may be a small visitors side, but don't look for any changes there for a long time. I would probably attach a timeline for that to happen somewhere right after the new high school AND junior high are completed. :

  22. Ridiculous post! The Bears needs to be concerned with becoming a respectable program not "Big Time". The visitors stands are not very big, but that has to be WAY down on the priority list to spend district money.
  23. It's still WAY more important to find the "right guy" for LCM than it is to hurry up and fill the opening. By your statement of "get the good one" I take it that you already have someone out there in mind. ALMOST any coach that actually had a choice between PNG and LCM would choose to wear purple & white. Not even a realistic comparison. This board has been packed with opinions of who the best area coaches are that might be interested in the job and some of these guys are good...but they still may not be a good fit at LCM. IMO, it's still best to gather a selection committee, set application dates, and consider all applications and then you just have to make the best decision on what you have.
  24. District 20-4A Champions? That may be a big stretch, but it's not out of the question for the Lady Bears to become a playoff team this year. Central, Ozen, & Livingston are certainly the district front runners and with good reason, (no one in their right mind would dispute that),but with 4 playoff spots in 4A this year LCM should contend. This team IS good enough to capture that 4th spot if they continue to work and grow. LCM understands that this is just one game...but they also understand it was a big one. Again, Congrats to Coach E and the Lady Bears.
