  1. HUGE win for the Lady Bears! ;D Congrats to the players and coaches. Even though the effort and intensity were there, the Bears MUST shoot better from the stripe in order to stack up "W's" in this tough district. Katie Harrell sparked the Bears in the first half from the opening tip by pushing the ball and seemingly getting to every loose ball. I'm not sure of any exact stats, but my guess would be that Bear scoring was lead by Katie Harrell and Tayler Thompson who where both somewhere in the 12-16 point range. Shelly Conn contributed solid minutes off the bench hitting key free throws in the 4th quarter. This was an exciting game to watch...just ask the scorers table attendant who "accidently" forgot to start the clock 2 or 3 times down the stretch. : The last district win against Lumberton for the Bears was...?
  2. There's a lot of truth to this post. Now is a chance for LCM to move forward, but many people can't get over "personal issues" of the past and continue to turn these posts into a whiners board. The focus of the LCM community should remain on finding a quality coach.
  3. LOL I knew you wouldn't be happy! We got that great tournament coming up this weekend. This left OF with about 3 open dates, if not 4, on their schedule. I know the Lady Cats had a hard time finding teams willing to play them. What a reputation for OF! It is something to be proud of in a way yet kinda disappointing all at the same time. : ( Couldn't find the giant head so this small one will have to do)
  4. Congrats! Hit Away has played solid this season.
  5. I'm not sure how much you've traveled, but a lot of the umps that we have in this area are some of the best around. Even though you said "One ump I saw"...it's not real fair to call out a group. (and that seems to be where you're going) All umps are a little different and you might have to take a different approach to each of them to see what they're looking for in a strike zone. You can't lump them altogether. That's like saying all short, tobacco chewing, 3rd base coaches in green & orange caps make a lot of CE's! It could apply...might not. ;D I've certainly been a part of games when I thought the umpires weren't very consistent, but you still have to try to teach your girls to be disciplined and not to "chase" bad pitches.
  6. There is an order to politics...everything has to run it's course. Maybe they should use whatever order PNG used to get it done........now. They made their move in a hurry. ;D You are wise beyond your years. Maybe Matt Burnett is smarter than he is given credit for and took it upon himself to make the process go as smoothly as he could for the school that he cares about. He has certainly been a great coach at PNG and handled himself with class in his reassignment. Apparently that's not "in the order of politics" everywhere. : Yea right, I can see it now, the company you work for hires a young go getter that does your job better than you do and you go ahead and resign instead of letting the company run you off because you have loyalty for your employer. Get real Research it yourself, but that's fairly close to what happened except in this case the employer was loyal to the employee (in a way). Burnett went to school at PNG and played football at PNG during some of their glory days of the 70's. He went on to coach at PNG for 15 years and was successful for the majority of those years. Now the community wants a change and Matt Burnett stepped aside without a lot of commotion. The SCHOOL DISTRICT decided to give him the option of being reassigned (to pretty sweet postion if you ask me) or look for another coaching position. This situation has ABSOLUTLY ZERO parallels to the LCM situation! LCM needs a change no matter who's toes are stepped on to get there. My main point is that I just thought this was a very classy move by the PNG school district and the Port Neches - Groves communities.

  8. More like who is number 2 and 3? Not really a number one on that list. I predict disapointment for the Bears. There are a lot of quality pitchers on the '09 roster for the Bears...but,the question is "Did any of these pitchers make dramatic improvements during the off-season to seperate themselves from the pack and become "The" go-to-guy?"
  9. There is an order to politics...everything has to run it's course.
  10. Just use your one finger and hit Caps Lock. I know you can do it. If you really have dyslexia, hit the button that says "kcol spac" :D LMAO!!! ;D westend 0, This gets my vote for funniest post of the month!!!
  11. This was an awesome hit and changed the momentum of the game. Tivy took the ball in the second half and started this long drive and was making a statement that they were there to play. Tezeno's crushing hit in the backfield stopped the drive at the goal line and completely wilted the spirit of Tivy. From that moment on, EVERYBODY on both sides of the stadium knew who was going to win that ball game. This hit became more than just a hard hit in one ball game...this hit set the tone and attitude for the WO-S defense for seasons to come.
  12. Without really knowing the history or drive of wo-s football you can see where an outsider would find logic in these stats. I once heard someone say that "Statistics are like a hostage...you can twist them around and punish them into saying anything you want them to say". This should be a good game, but surely no one is taking wo-s lightly. Sometimes you TRY to make yourself feel better about the situation you're in. ;D
  13. I wish wo-s good luck this weekend in Lufkin, but what does "Show Your Pride" mean if you're not from this district? ???
  14. There you go with that "are" thing again. I think it's good for both of the communities. If I'm not mistaken, the money is a straight split and it doesn't matter who hosts the event. If wos was to drop LC-M it doesn't necessarily mean any of the previously named schools would agree to a series.
  15. Dang it and I was nice about his Triple Steal call at another game ! :P I saw the triple steal from the stands. I just thought it was a player trying to pad her steal stats. BHBlue, did a nice job of handling another confusing situation in his last game of the day as well. Everything was under control for the whole 1hr & 10mins...oh, I mean...1hr. & 20min. ;D For a minute I thought we might have to finish the game with one ump!
  16. Congrats to the Lady Bears on a good start to the season!
  17. It's hard to make a great impression when your team is 0-10, but Hunter Gonzales certainly needs to be considered for the award. A great athlete. If Newcomer of the Year is not in the cards for H. Gonzales then I vote him in as "Most Courageous Player in 20-4A". ;D The kid did everything, took a beating, and never missed a snap. Hunter is certainly the brightest spot in a tough season at Bear Country.
  18. Congrats to Dayton. LCM never seemed to get things going. The Bears had a fantastic season, but seemed flat for the first time in weeks. Dayton was not the least bit intimidated by having to face the heavily favored 20-4A district champs. Dayton answered every push made by the Lady Bears. Congrats to the Bears on great season and good luck the Broncos in the future.
  19. H-J is big inside and had outstanding guard play in their scrimmage with LCM. The first half was very close, but H-J blew it open down the stretch. The Hawks will punish many teams the season. LCM looked very much improved from the last few seasons. They matched up well with the Hawks and for a first outing showed promise in every phase of the game. They are loaded with seniors this season and hopefully can make a big push.
  20. Is there anybody that hasn't posted their opinions on this topic in one of the dozen or so times this thread has been started this season? : How about best dressed coach? Coach with the ugliest dog? Coaches with boxers VS briefs? ;D
  21. Central not making the list may be because they lost so many outstanding players from last year's team. They will still be strong and fast, but younger than they have been in the past. Ozen is BIG and athletic. 20-4A will be much more competitive from top to bottom this year...I doubt if anybody runs the table.
