Maybe he talked with MC Elite coach. ;D ;D ;D That is the first thing I thought of too. Maybe this should be a topic for a new post, but I'll ask it here anyway...Are there different levels of cheating or is breaking the rules breaking the rules?

Congrats to the girls of Crush (Cole) on a great weekend! I wasn't aware of the "controversy" during the tournament, but I just went to eteamz and saw what was posted. I really don't see what all of the fuss is over by the disqualified team...follow the rules and you don't have to worry about it.

Stars Over Texas College Exposure Tournament Results

OMG! That cart was horrible! All of the other carts were having a hard time working their way through the crowd, but the people parted like Moses and the Red Sea when they smelled that cart coming by the end of the weekend. -

I second that. Those guys worked their butts off getting the fields ready. One of them even worked a couple of toe nails off! They even set up a maintenance office in a black truck in the parking lot and had a crew member out there while the work was taking place on the fields. There were several guys that were there to run the tour. that had rakes in their hands also lots of thanks for their help too. As for the toes OMG that hurt.Slam was able to work all weekend with out once messing his hair up.That is talent. OMG! Here we go again! And from MY OWN team! I guess from now on I'll have to stand with my back to the wall when I enter a room to keep from getting stabbed in the back. On the weekend OC (Thompson) went 3 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. We may have actually played our best softball in the loss and tie. A very well run tournament in spite of the rain. At one point I think I actually saw a couple of ducks land in the 3rd base coaches box on field 4. "Thank you" to Ronnie and Nara Cole and the Stars Over Texas crew. -
This is summer league, and I understand that not every foul is going to get called, but I've been very surprised at how well some of these games have been called. The referees must have stepped up their game too. (Did I say that out loud?) Heck...some of these have even turned into basketball games! I hope this trend continues and carries over into the season. "Thank you" zebras.

Orange Crush 14u (Thompson) USFA STATE CHAMPS AGAIN!!!!!
Slam14 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats to the Texas Hold'em for a solid tournament and outstanding play. You guys played hard in some tough games in the heat after getting in the losers bracket. I caught the tail end of one of your games where you were down by two in progressive ITB and ended the game with a come from behind 3 run in-the-park home run...I think everybody in the park heard that play. -
Orange Crush 14u (Thompson) USFA STATE CHAMPS AGAIN!!!!!

Congratulations to the girls of the Orange CRUSH (Thompson)...2008 USFA State Champions! What a great weekend of softball in Conroe! There are many cliche' phrases that I could use to describe this weekend, but none are more appropriate than to say that this was a total team effort. Great pitching, hitting, and virtually error-free defense combined for a championship weekend. Pitchers Shannon Sain, Rayleigh Templet, and Emilee Reed kept hitters off balance all weekend. Shannon got things rolling by pitching a no hitter for a 1-0 win against a very strong Texas Eclipse team. Only two eclipse players reached base. The first was promptly gunned down by catcher Madison Cole trying to steal second, and the second runner made the same mistake and was out by three steps, but managed to knock the ball free going into the bag. She rested on second as Shannon fanned the batter at the plate to retire the side. Rayleigh Templet got the nod in the championship game winning 6-2 against the Texas Heat throwing to an umpire with a strike zone the size of a buffalo nickle. The zone was the same for both teams and turned into a game of each pitcher having to challenge batters with pitches right down the gut. Rayleigh was up to the task with the help of some great defense. Almost flawless defense by infielders Tiffani Thompson, Baleigh Bussell, Shannon Sain, Rayleigh Templet, and Emilee Reed combined with the good decision making of catchers Madison Cole and Emily Nolan and great wide open hustle by the outfielding corp of Gabby Miller, Kylin Carpenter, Michele Rigsby made for some great softball. Throw in one armed pinch runner Jacquelyn Brown...shake it up, and pour it out and you have yourself one great bunch of young ladies. "Thank You" to the players, coaches, and parents for making this a very memorable weekend. 2008 USFA Texas State Champions! Tiffani Thompson (LCM) Kylin Carpenter (LCM) Madison Cole (LCM) Michele Rigsby (LCM) Shannon Sain (H-F) Rayleigh Templet (DeQuincey, LA) Emilee Reed (BC) Emily Nolan (Nederland) Baleigh Bussell (Starks, LA) Gabby Miller (Starks, LA) Jacquelyn Brown (Vidor) -
I too was surprised to see the door charge and thought it was another good thing gone bad. The team fees should cover all of that. This is a fun league and great way for the girls to play, have fun, and enjoy their friends in a "non-pressure" environment. It's just one more headache when parents and friends have to shell out money "just because". > >

Two of the finest young ladies and best young players around did suffer significant injuries Sunday. Shannon received a blow to her left eye when a throw down to 2nd deflected off another players glove. A scary accident that hopefully won't have any long lasting effect. After a 10 minute delay, Shannon couldn't understand why I wouldn't let her play with one eye! Jacquelyn Brown also suffered a fracture of her left forearm after getting hit by a pitch at the plate and will miss several weeks of action. At first glance it was thought to be a deep bruise and she demanded to be left in to run bases. Her comments were "I got on...I'm running". It wasn't long before it was apparent that it may be more than bruised. 3rd baseman Kylin Carpenter also was hit by a pitch on her right hand earlier in the day severely bruising her index finger. Field "J" stands for "jacked up" in my opinion and we hope to stay clear of that field for a while! Other than losing players, the weekend was filled with great softball and some of the most talented underclassmen you will see anywhere. There were great plays and hits at every field in the complex. Thanks to the GT Shockers, Texas Hawks, Texas Peppers, and MC Magic for an extremely competitive weekend.

I think NEWS is using a jet engine to stir this one, paddles just not big to tackle this thread. This does have potential to get interesting. Get your popcorn ready!!!! 8) OK I am not much on grammar but I think it should read THEIR age group.... ;D Thanks for the English lesson JA I went to LCM ;D Apparently not long enough! ;D ;D

Yikes well I think we know now who THE BOSS is at CCs House...lol Was that ever even in question?? ;D ;D It might change...CC has a new whistle!

This should be a great day of softball! I hope people take the time to come by and watch some of these great underclassmen go at it. "Thanks you's" to Tigers12 for putting together such a quality field and event.

Somehow you've still missed the point of the whole thing...you've got to WANT to learn and do what's right for all the girls safety and the good of the game. I don't remember saying that we don't WANT to learn or we don't WANT to do whats right for the girls safety or the good of the game. I was trying to say that those of us that are less superior as you don't know all the rules of the game yet. Like I said, we are still learning. BINGO! finally. You didn't say it, but you left it up in the air. We too, and certainly I, still have a ton to learn about this game. I learn and see something new every tournament. But my point was that in two consecutive innings this rule and concern was discussed between the opposing (Crush) coaches and the umpiring crew. They were not arguing any points, just trying to draw the whole group into discussing what the situation was. To my knowledge you never got involved.

MB, it's usually not a good idea to start a post with "I wasn't around on Sunday, but...". I WAS there and understand all that took place. Most of the issues revolved around the obstruction rule and there were several issues with this in one particular game. The umpire crew expressed their interpretation of the obstruction rule and coaches expressed in turn why they didn't exactly see eye to eye with what was happening. The umpiring crew did a great job of communicating and no one started kicking dirt, spitting, or cursing. A season or so ago we had a player miss several months with an injury that to this day that I still feel was deliberately delivered and that is one reason this rule and it's enforcement is such a big deal to us. I want ALL the girls to be protected and safe. Sometimes in the heat of the moment fans and parents say things they wish they hadn't. Our parent told me that he had apologized for the comment and there was certainly no malicious intent toward any of the girls. The CRUSH 14 team involved in this game's roster has been basically the same for the past few seasons with only a few changes. That doesn't happen without a great group of parents. The parents of this team are very good, caring people who are extremely knowledgable about softball. I am glad to be associated with this group of parents, players, and the Orange CRUSH organization. Softball can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it and the more/longer you are involved in it the more you will understand that statement. A lot of people watch TV...but few really understand how a television works. ?? ;D ;D

The girls of the CRUSH 12U (Collins) were very impressive this weekend. This first year 12U team is very small in stature, but never backed away from the older and much bigger girls they faced this weekend. They played sound defense, put the ball in play, and even though the coaches said they were nervous, they didn't really show it on the field. This is a well coached group. Congrats to the girls of the CRUSH 12's!
-
You're supposed to throw water on that fire...NOT gas! There were a few controversial "events" and calls, but the umpiring crews did a good job of handling the situations. Heck, some of the umps even doubled and hair stylists between innings!!!!!

"Thank You" to the coaches and parents of the CRUSH 10U for a well run tournament at CRUSH Park in their inaugural event and for providing a great weekend of softball. Homer and crew did a good job of staying on top of everything. Thanks again. Sunday was the first real taste of summer...man was it hot!!

He traded in his "Crack-Zipper" shorts for a pair of Plaid pajama shorts !!! Needless to say Mrs. "Crack-Zipper" is still embarrassed !! ;D ;D It looks like they woke JC up just in time to take the picture! I saw those plaid crack zipper shorts being modeled the other night at the playoff game. I can't tell from this picture, but does he have on his matching "coaching crocs"? :o -
Congrats to all...I'm not sure if those hours are tougher on the kids or parents. Even though the weather didn't come as expected you have to respect the tournament directors efforts to get the games in. It sounds like it was a great "morning" of softball.

Great post! If you know the Sain family, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that's more committed to family. This trip was planned well in advance with all concerned parties knowing about it for a long time. Almost every man on this forum got into softball to spend time with their daughters doing something they both love...softball. Family vacations fall into that same category...time spent together. It's a lucky man that can look back on his life WITHOUT saying "I wish I had spent more time with my family instead of...". Mike Sain is one step closer than a lot of men to taking that phrase out of his vocabulary. Good luck to H-F! I've become a big fan of this program. -
Will Nederland make the playoffs in the next few years?
Slam14 replied to HoOpStAr's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You're right...maybe "dark horse" is not an accurate term. LCM girls basketball does have a storied past, but has been quite for the past several years. Hopefully this next season is the year they get back on track. They had a great second half in district and will graduate only one senior from this years team. If Coach Ellerbee pushes the Lady Bears to prepare in the off season the "W" column could escalate nicely next season. -

Nederland's JV was sound, but there has to be ONE class that breaks through to create enough community interest in girls basketball so that younger girls flock to a little dribblers program. If you're waiting on fundementals from a little dribblers program outside of Orangefield or Lumberton then you're still "several" years away from seeing results. I see a dark horse on the rise, but I'm not convinced it's Nederland.
